Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review. Every project is very much a team effort, so your kind words go to the team as a whole. It was a pleasure to work on the restoration of your home. I know, being the home G grew up in, there were significant emotional ties to the way things had always been. Some hard choices for change were made, and you and he both created a great synergy of past and present in the final outcome! Again, thank you for taking the time to write the review. I’ve gone over your critique of the effort we put into developing your project, and I appreciate both your point of view and the time you took to put it into words. In a continued effort at reconciliation, I’d like to know if there is a way we can bring your experience with Red House to a more satisfying result?
As our other reviews highlight, client satisfaction is a cornerstone of our company culture. After more thought about the process—as you describe it—, we are taking steps to rectify the methods and procedures that led to your poor experience so others don’t go through the same experience. I appreciate the fact you are letting us know you are not happy with the result of the contract we signed. You had a very cool project. I’m glad you found a contractor that to work with, and I wish you a pleasant experience with that contractor.
At Red House, we put a lot of work into the estimating and project development process, and, depending on the project, Red House does charge for design and proposals. According to contract, we did work with you and the plans you provided to help assemble the proposal for a very interesting and valuable change to your historic home. That effort at project development carries a high value for most of our clients. Even with plans, most clients still need help to make important decisions about the project. These can include: assessing the value and experience of heated floors, looking at different options for glass at the shower, designing different alcove cabinet options, deciding on lighting plans and selections, value engineering, and evaluating the costs of custom moldings versus stock. All of this requires an amazing amount of time.
As promised in the contract, we supplied a lengthy report giving you a line by line breakdown of the parts of the project we developed. Unfortunately, my initial cost estimates were not attainable for the project as designed. I try to be as honest and upfront with clients as I can be. Unfortunately, I can be wrong, but I will let you know as soon in the process as possible if I am.
Because we try not to pass the costs of this process to existing or future projects, and because we—fortunately—have amazing clients who continue to ask for proposals and designs, we feel it is most fair to everyone to charge for the time we put into these estimates and project development.
