RESIDENTIAL DESIGN STUDIO

We hired Richard based on the recommendation of neighbors who had used him for their home addition, and we have been so pleased that we chose to hire him to design our upstairs addition. He was very thorough and showed great attention to detail. He was easy to communicate with and listened to everything that we wanted before drawing up our plans. When we hit a little snag due to some unexpected subfloor beams, he was incredibly responsive. He came over to see what was going on, met with our builder, and created a solution! Our builder was definitely impressed with the thoroughness of his plans. We highly recommend him for any of your architect needs!

We worked with Richard to design and prepare plans for a 2-story detached garage with living space on the top on a small city lot behind our 1930's tudor-ish house. I contacted a handful of designers and he was by far the most responsive and instilled confidence in me that he was listening and that he understood what I was talking about, even if my terminology was not in his industry language. Richard was the most highly recommended on my contractor's list as well after working with Richard for many years. We wanted a style that was different from our house, but not glaringly competing, with some tricky things such as the widest garage door humanly possible (required some special structural stuff), some super energy efficient things that required all sorts of special planning, something about the # of windows and wind sheering, and had a variance with the city and some other challenges due to our old neighborhood and city rules. I had no idea there were so many drawings and plans and sets of plans needed to do a project perfectly. Richard was patient, optimistic and had a great attitude through the whole thing and kept in touch with our contractor to stay updated on our project. He had great ideas and took all my dreaming into consideration. I'd 100% call him next time I need a design!

Richard is so talented, creative, kind and collaborative. It was a joy to work with him on a very large and complicated new-build in Shell Beach. We worked very closely, along with the clients, builder Kevin Hamer and a huge number of subcontractors to complete this fabulous home. I designed and provided all of the cabinets for the home and felt supported by Richard every step of the way. I highly recommend him for any high-end new-build or remodel. He is a thoughtful person who gives his all to each project that he undertakes.

My Wife and I have been extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to work with Richard and Residential Design Studio. On our move to Texas, we searched for three solid days with our Realtor and while driving to another listing we saw a home under construction from RDS and had him pull over to look. The first thing we noticed was the incredible attention to detail the exterior presented. Upon walking into the home, we were taken aback by the interior. Simply exquisite. The home was still under construction but you could see from the cabinetry to the stone work on the fireplace that this was really special. We had our Realtor call Richard to meet with him to hear about how he planned to finish out the residence. Meeting Richard was all we needed to secure the home! His knowledge, personality and depth of expertise is far superior than most architect/builders that I have met in over 30 years of civil engineering.
