We had a great experience remodeling our kitchen and master bath. The team is very knowledgeable and experts in their craft. They seem to work well together as a team and did a great job communicating updates, changes, and daily schedules to us. The only reason we did not give them 5 stars is due to scheduling delays, which in most cases was not their fault.

I did a total house renovation and an addition on a 1960's ranch that had about 500 sq ft of just unused space and a kitchen the size of a closet. My taste was open concept and functional use of all space in a minimalist shaker style all natural wood style. The design was outstanding and perfect and exceeded my expectations. The tradesmen were great. All issues that came up and they always will regardless of who you use were handled, fixed and the resolutions met expectations.

We hired SJ Janis to work on a major remodeling project for our master bedroom and in Fall 2022. I'll start out by saying that I would highly recommend them for any remodeling project that you might have. They did a spectacular job in the final results exceeded my expectations!! The project started in January 2023 and we were not home for most of it. They use an app called Builder Trend where they posted pictures on a regular basis which helped me to feel very connected despite the fact that I wasn't living in the house during the project. We also had regular project updates by phone or video. I'm a perfectionist and looked at all of the details. They were able to stay on top of everything and had a high level of quality that met or exceeded my expectations which is saying a lot! There were a few moments during the project where I added to the scope and at times it was not a problem to make the change without added costs and other additions required more time and work and expense. The change order process was very transparent and fair in my opinion. We had some structural issues in the house that were uncovered during the project and I feel very confident about the work that was done to remedy the problems that they found with rotted wood, etc. In the end, the project finished about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. How often can you say that about a remodeling project??!! I've posted before and after pictures so that you can see the incredible difference and how great it looks. Again, I would highly recommend SJ Janis. In particular, I worked with Casey Carney and Guy. Both were SO easy to work with and so accommodating. Casey went above and beyond throughout the entire project and I'm so grateful for all that he did to make the finished product look so beautiful!

Our house is a 1927 Historical Registered Tudor in Waukesha. The renovations included virtually all of the first floor making this an extensive renovation with a lot of demolition as well as construction. All of the early demolition was done in a way to minimize the dust and debris (we have plaster and lathe construction). The detail in design work was excellent and the finish product exceeded our expectations. Nick Sannes, Jayme Lippe, Joe Klein and, especially, Alton Oakes were excellent and easy to work with. Alton, our Lead Carpenter and Project Manager, went out of his way to make sure my wife and I were happy with his results. He exceeded that in almost all cases as we were generally thrilled with his work. Due to the size of the project with all of its interlocking pieces, the supply issues of 2022 were apparent. The job took two months longer to complete than initially planned but communication was always excellent and we never felt that we were being neglected. We would HIGHLY recommend S.J. Janis for major remodels!

We did a full basement remodel with SJ Janis Company. They were excellent from start to finish. Their whole staff was helpful and professional from start to finish. We met with Jim for the sales consultation and he really took time to understand our needs, and give a truthful and honest consultation about cost. He took time to help us think things through, and we never felt pressured or rushed. The design process was extra awesome because Joe was able to do some 3D architectural drawings which really made the project come to life. We had some tricky elements we wanted to work in, and some soundproofing requirements and they really did their research and took time to bring those things to life for us. Sarah was a super skillful in choosing design selections. She took time to really understand our style as family, and pulled things together within our budget quickly and efficiently. The project manager and lead carpenter Guy was amazing from start to finish. He was professional, personable, and an excellent communicator. Most importantly, his work is impecable. His skill and attention to detail for every single part of the project really is I think what made this project shine. For a project of this size we planned for disruption and snags, and to be honest there really weren't any. It was really smooth sailing thanks to Guy, and the team worked hard to make sure anything that came up was addressed transparently and swiftly. Thanks to SJ janis we have a beautiful basement, and we could not be happier.

We chose them because we had worked with the people when they were in previous employment. We are very happy with the work performed and the followup details that have been handled. We would recommend them for any remodeling task.

Redid shower and jacuzzi surround in master bath. Installed new toilet. Closed off back door of garage. Also many miscellaneous items. Made sure roof not leaking into kitchen and repaired ceiling. Went above and beyond when they found basement flooding while we were on vacation - cleaned it up.

SJ Janis completely transformed our 40 year old kitchen into a contemporary vision. They had the engineering expertise to take down a load bearing wall and re-route existing plumbing, electrical and HVAC into beautiful, custom crafted columns in our island. Their design was elegant, but warm and they made the entire space way more functional and open for our family's needs. I highly recommend them to anyone.

SJ Janis is detail oriented from start to finish. The company provides extensive upfront construction plans to ensure customer design expectations will be met. Every cost item is laid out all the way down to individual pieces of cabinet hardware. Continual day to day communication during the construction process ensures customer satisfaction. Road bumps are resolved immediately. Employees are professional and enjoyable to work with. At the beginning, the company walks into your house as an unknown. At the end, the company leaves as a large number of professional friends. Highly recommended.

We've used S.J Janis twice. 5 years ago they added a back extension to our house creating a larger living room, new master bath and walk-in closet. We liked it so much this past summer they redid our kitchen and guest bath. Their workmanship, quality and design exceeded our expectations. The budget and the timeline were met both times. Communication was so good I still consider them friends. We highly recommend them.

I hired S.J. Janis to do a complete remodel of the kitchen in my mid-century modern home and am extremely pleased with the end results. The kitchen was for the most part an original, galley style kitchen seriously in need of updating. Nathan and Joe at S. J. Janis worked closely with me to develop several plans that opened up the kitchen into the dining room and living room. I was very impressed with the level of knowledge and professionalism that everyone on their staff displayed. Once the project was underway I met weekly with the project manager to get updates on the progress and discuss any questions or concerns I might have. The few surprises during the construction were handled quickly, and without any fanfare. The quality of the work was top notch, and any flaws I noticed (and I went over everything with a fine tooth comb!) were fixed with no questions asked. The project stayed on budget, with a slight delay of a week in completion. Overall, I was thrilled with the end results, and love cooking in my new kitchen while being able to look out over the view of the river in my back yard. I wouldn't hesitate to hire S. J. Janis again for other remodeling projects.

We worked with SJ Janis on a residential remodel project in Wisconsin. We interviewed half a dozen design-build contractors for this project because the design was unique. It was clear early on that SJ Janis would be the best choice, as we were very impressed with Nathan’s background in and appreciation for architectural design, and his keen attention to detail. SJ Janis was able to complete the construction documents phase for us and get the bidding done in an extremely timely and professional manner. Once the construction started, the quality of materials and workmanship was evident. Our architectural firm and the clients could not be happier with the finished results.
