Jay Cohen took advantage of my wife and I and ultimately took us for as much as he could, $27,000, for nothing in return. We hired Jay in January of 2024 to help us remodel our back addition. We discussed with Jay our goals and budget and he said before he could estimate the job we would need to hire and pay him. We reluctantly agreed because Jay seemed passionate and honest and cut him an initial $3,000 payment. What then transpired is that he withheld information from us for over 3 months before finally giving us an all-in estimate and only after we had already paid out a total of $27,000. The total estimate he finally shared came in at well over 2X our top budget and all that time we thought he was still working within the constraints of the the project but we later learned he threw that all out the window and basically turned this into his own passion project instead of listening to what our wants and needs were. Over those 3 months, Jay gradually increased the scope of the project saying we needed to tear down half our house and rebuild it and then followed up with replacing items in our house that weren't part of the addition or original scope. What ever happened to fiduciary responsibility and serving your clients in their best interests? He also shared our credit card information that we gave to him with a third party who then charged us $10,000 without authorization and we received no service or receipt in return nor did we ever agree to any terms with said third party. Jay took advantage of my family, independently communicated with both of us with inconsistent comments to keep us in confusion, and we even had to backfill a hole left in our backyard and repair our sprinkler system which Jay's team destroyed. We can no longer afford to do our home renovation and are trying to save money again for a second attempt sometime in the future. We've learned an expensive lesson to always get multiple quotes, don't blindly trust everything your architect says, validate ALL the work being done and always get everything in writing. This has caused so much stress and issues between my wife and I for the better part of 6 months, we just desire to get back to a positive and happy place in life and to no longer feel like a victim.

Jay Cohen and his team are the best. I couldn't be happier with the outcome of the bathroom and bedroom they built. My house is a historic property built in 1891. The upstairs had no storage space nor a bathroom when I bought it. Jay's design was by far the best, incorporating extensive storage space like a walk-in closet and custom built built-in dressers. But by far the most impressive part of the outcome here is the bathroom. Jay turned a finished attic into a spa in my house. The shower is large, modern, and beyond comfortable. Jay also cleverly designed a bathtub nook in an area that previously had no purpose, fully realizing the potential of the space. Additionally, Jay's crew is great to work with. I recently had a kitchen, mudroom, and laundry renovation completed. Jay is incredibly creative and was able to design the space in a new and much more useful and aesthetically beautiful way. The process started with a complete set of architectural drawings including several renderings of what my project would look like upon completion. I really liked the "one-stop shopping" in that JC Designers does everything from design and ordering to building. Being a cook, there are several appointments that are unique to my needs which I love-two dishwashers, 4 ovens, utensil drawers within the cabinetry, additional outlets, and a very cool knife holder. Jay's wonderful crew were on the job every day including weekends. My project was seamless and finished in record time compared to prior renovations I've done. I highly recommend JC Designers.

We used JC Designers for a full kitchen remodel, family room face lift, powder room remodel and hardwood floors throughout the house. Jay is a true professional and a solid partner for remodels. He is honest and upfront through the process and he will fix and address even the smallest detail to make sure you are 100% happy with the project. Would definitely recommend!

We used Floorscapers LTD for all the carpet and laminate in our home and couldn't be happier. The quality of the products was great as was the installation. The carpet installation was seamless, with their ability to move some furniture around while installing the flooring. While the carpet was being installed we learned that Jay also did design/carpentry/remodel work as well (JC Designers LLC). That led to them Designing and Finishing our basement. We were nervous at first because we had heard horror stories about contractors in the area not getting the jobs done and taking way longer to complete jobs than what was initially estimated. We even heard of many people having to find new contractors just to finish jobs. Thankfully, we had the total opposite experience and everything that Jay told us was true. They designed the basement to our needs, had people here every day to get work completed, finished the work on time and finished on budget! We now have an amazing space to entertain, extra bedrooms and additional bathroom. The additional space helped significantly through COVID to spread us all out for work and school needs. The whole process was about as seamless as it could have been for a basement build-out. Jay came to the table with great ideas for both adult and kid uses that were extremely helpful. I can't say enough good things about the work that was done for us and how beautiful it all turned out! We really liked working with Jay and the entire team of people that were here working. From roughin, drywall, insulation, plumbing, electrical, painting and finish work we had a great team of people to have at our home working on this project! The best part was just not having any bad surprises, just good ones!

Jay and his team completed a fantastic renovation of our 1960s kitchen. We had a very specific design in mind that Jay helped us see to fruition. The job involved some structural work to open up the kitchen to the dining room and there was some exterior work to reconfigure a patio door. Jay was there to help us through every decision and made sure the job was done well, timely, and to our liking. The crew would always show up when expected and the workmanship was beautiful. From helping select cabinet pulls that seamlessly matched the kitchen aesthetic to suggesting design details, like tile work to the ceiling, Jay ensured that our kitchen had top notch finishes and a cohesive design. I’m so pleased we trusted our kitchen remodel to Jay and will always go to him for future projects.

We had flooring replaced in the entire house from the basement to the 2nd floor...combination Luxury Laminate (which is not only waterproof but has been fabulous for both of our dogs) and Carpet. So beautiful and the crew was OUTSTANDING! We also had both the guest bathroom and Master Bathroom completely remodeled...all I can say is WOW-such a great transformation and so beautiful! My husband and I love our “new” home (this was like getting a new home without moving). Jay and his crew are AMAZING!

JC Designers did a bathroom remodel on my home, we also updated the kitchen counters and added a backsplash. I had the flooring through out replaced as well. JC Designers were great from the flooring team to the contractor crew.

Jay remodeled my basement into a separate apartment and did an amazing job with it, incorporating old paneling into new design to create a unique home. He immersed himself in the work and spent a lot of time researching and discussing different options and alternatives with me. I was a pretty demanding customer but he never tired of endless phone calls and discussions of details, taking into account my wishes but insisting on quality he could approve. I appreciated his availability, responsiveness and devotion to his work. Jay gets my highest recommendation.

Jay is the ONLY contractor I will EVER use, here’s why… My family of four relocated from TN and within a month, purchased our first CO home. While in temporary housing we started re-modeling the main floor in our new home. We hired a contractor who – long story short – subcontracted the work to laborers who destroyed our home and, instead of fixing the issues, the contractor ran off with our money (about $85% of the total cost of remodel). My family was devastated. The house was completely torn apart – we had NO kitchen (no sink, no cabinets, no refrigerator…because they broke it, no working electrical), NO kitchen, our electrical was live, exposed (and later we found out, not up to code and dangerous), the walls were only half painted, access holes in walls never patched, the list goes on…$50,000 worth. We only had one week left in temporary housing, one income, and had spent ALL of our disposable income. Our realtor called in a favor and sent Jay to our home the week before we had to move in. He assessed the situation and immediately took control – which is exactly what I needed! He got me out of panic mode and into solution mode. I could write a dissertation on all the wonderful things Jay did to help my family but (for your sake) here are the highlights… From day one, Jay always did what he said he would do. Because of the situation we were in and the discovery process we had to go through to identify all the issues the subcontractors created – there were ample opportunities for Jay to take advantage of us or gouge us on repair cost. But he NEVER once did. In fact, Jay never charged us one penny for his time. He knew the situation we were in and made the compassionate decision to help us (us - who he had never met before), instead of marking up the repairs and profiting from the work he was arranging and supervising, he simply pass on the repair bills directly from his incredible crews. So that I am clear, this wasn’t a three-day job, the kitchen alone took MONTHS and Jay was at my house EVERY night (yes, I said night because he and his crew were there after hours – some until 9 or 10 PM). He never once complained, never made me feel like I was less important than other clients, and honestly, treated us like family. Jay will forever be our family hero, trusted advisor, and friend. He is an incredible person with the highest level of integrity and – oh yeah – his work product is THE BEST! Literally – the work is incredible. Though the work that Jay did on our home is incredible, it was his decision to BE an incredible person and help a stranger in need that has changed our hearts and lives. He chose to be honest, hardworking, compassionate, and treat us like family without any personal gain (I am crying just recalling how wonderful he was and how well he took care of us). My words will never do Jay justice, but hopefully he knows just how grateful we are and will always be. And that is why we will NEVER use another contractor

We are very happy with the transformation of the flooring in our home on the main level by Floorscapers. JC Designers was the only bidding contractor that said to take the floors lighter instead of darker and so glad we took Jay's advice. He has 2 great hardwood floor installers, Gary & Jake, that used a new wire brush technique to give the hardwood an entirely new look. Additionally, we added hardwood to our living room, dining room and laundry room as well as modernized the appearance of our stair case. Last, we love the carpet selection he helped us pick out the for some of the remaining rooms in the house.

Jay is very knowledgeable and his team is AMAZING! They did all my floors, floorboards as well as tear out and clean up everything in 1 and a half days!

Hard to believe in the home-improvement business our problem was solved within two days of our phone call. Our home has beautiful luxury vinyl plank floors that are water proof and having a padding that's so quite our guest in the basement bedroom can not hear any foot steps or noise. We are ecstatic, Jay's crew cleaned everything and took the trash away, and Jay spent most of the day at our home very impressive. We have hired JC Designers twice previously and are going back to Jay for our kitchen floor tile installation as well. JC Designers installed a floating engineered flooring in our office basement, and removed the old flooring throughout our home to install new hardwood. We are thoroughly satisfied with the work performed, and highly recommend Jay. His hands-on approach to our projects allowed us to (1) explore and select the right materials for our home, (2) manage project scope to remain within our desired budget, (3) arrange prompt and accommodating scheduling of installations, and (4) successfully manage the project in real-time. We have hired numerous contractors over the years for projects from full home renovations to minor repairs (though 3 different homes), and had issues with those that charge excessive margins, are only present to sign the deal, and collect your money, while sub-contracting the work to the cheapest bidder. This was not the case with Jay. He made numerous trips to showrooms with me and provided great advice in selecting materials that complement our mountain home. For the installation work, Jay's team was comprised of experienced professionals, who were detail-oriented, efficient, and friendly. He was on-site most everyday ensuring quality work, timeliness, and cleanliness. Additionally, Jay's team tackled minor scope changes for us without any hassle. For example, at the end of our last project, we had some additional flooring (due to his team's efficiency) and so his team installed it for us in our pantry, which had not been part of the project. I was astounded to see a house I sold to an investment group transformed into a mini mansion by Jay Cohen and his company the JC Design Group. I had recommended Floorscapers, Jay’s flooring company in the past when I sold a home for new hardwoods and carpet with raves from my clients, but I had no idea his design background and company craftsman’s produce such a remarkable job renovation in such a short time. It started with a complete makeover of the exterior landscape adding a walkway, waterfall and several specimen trees, adding lighting which at night gives the house beauty and presence. The first level foyer was moved back and a corridor hallway was removed giving expanded site lines to the new dining room and luxury kitchen. The kitchen featuring beautiful quartz tops, glass tiles, the latest appliances, kitchen doors and doors that open and close with a touch like no other cabinets I have used in my many investment homes. Lighting, audio & video, new in every room controlled by remote and or a mobile phone wow! Beautiful soft grey hardwoods throughout the home including all the stairs with a combination of black iron and matching wood railings to the floor color were exquisite. The family room fireplace was rebuilt using grey stone and glass mosaics and even the speakers were built right into the stone wall. The master suite was such a drastic change, I couldn’t believe in this small space Jay was able to add his and her closets with built-ins and a bathroom that once had a closet, tub, shower combination and a pedestal sink into a 6’x 6’ walk-in shower with steam and two complete shower setups, two fogless mirrors for shaving at different heights, a heated floor and towel rack, a two sink vanity with drawers. his and hers medicine cabinets and a full-length mirror that had speakers, and a clock. The water closet had a seat that opened automatically, offered a bidet feature and of course a heated seat. The final feature that Jay’s attention to detail was off the charts featured a free-standing bathtub with whirlpool jets and a pulsating air system, a heated back, speakers built into the walls and a heater to keep you in the water at your desecration. The other three bathrooms in the house had state of the art fixtures, tiles, lighting and items I would view in a copy of Architectural digest. I have been involved in over 40 house flips in the past few years and the attention to detail that Jay and his company of expert craftsman completed in only 4 months, sets him far apart from the contractors and designers I have used in the past. Jay the entire JC Designers Group were fantastic to work with. My husband and I bought a house that needed a lot of work; we were overwhelmed with all of the design possibilities, the decisions that needed to be made, and the potential of managing a large construction project while both working full time. Jay offered us peace of mind.
