I recently hired Dale Staten of THUNDERhead Design to remodel my bathroom. I couldn't be happier with the results. Dale is a hands on designer. He shows up every day with a smile on his face, ready to work. He's very detailed oriented, willing to listen to your concerns, and tries to make the whole process as painless as possible. Dale may not be the lowest bid on your project but in my opinion you'll get more than your monies worth!

I called on Dale for a small Deck repair. He was very quick to respond and ended up doing a phenomenal job. A lot of builders would pass up a small job like this, but I felt Dale was very in tune to details and cared for the job as if it was a large one. Very professional and will definitely be calling him for future work.

Provided concept, design and building of contemporary modern home with a goal of making minimal-to-no maintenance for 30-50 years. Also shepherded the process through the city approval process which was complex.

I have worked on multiple projects with Dale. He is always incredibly professional with a fine attention to detail. All his projects always turn out beautifully and well constructed with wonderful build quality. I always look forward to working with him on future projects.

Honest,reliable, fair dealings with excellent design taste...real quality work and advice! Thoughtful listening and responses- which is much more than I could say for most contractors or designers. Everyone I know who has hired Thunderhead has used them on repeat when projects arise. What speaks more than that.? This proves to me that value was delivered in lieu of lowest perceived cost based on bid or fee%.

I really can't say enough great things about the team at Thunderhead. Dale & his staff are the best in the business. They bought a house that was vacant for over a decade and transformed it into the perfect home for me. The house is 109 years old and was in bad shape when the got ahold of it. They brought the house back to life. What I appreciate most after living in it for a year, is that they kept as much of the beautiful old detail as they could, like the beautiful pine floors, leaded glass windows, the moldings, the banister, etc. while updating the house to modern convenience HVAC & Electrical & beyond. It's modern yet has the character of old. It's honestly perfect. I walked in and bought it immediately. I have grown to appreciate how many considerations and details where reviewed in this homes transformation. I'll never get rid of this property. We may outgrow it, but this house will always be in my family. We love it and everyone who comes over finds it to be the most beautiful little home.

My project was a renovation of a 1910 home that had not ever been updated. It was a MAJOR renovation that included replacing knob & tube electricity, new plumbing, building/removing walls and more. This was a 7 month process that would have caused major anxiety and stress to most people. THUNDERhead made the process stress free and fun! Their attention to detail and customer service were top notch. My goal was to update the house and make the flow meet my needs while still respecting the age and character of the home. Major score! Adding before and after pics below. They re-purposed wood from walls for my "earthy" bathroom wall (see photo below), painted and reused the original light fixtures (including one that has a gas or electric option!!), reconfigured the kitchen and dining room for better entertaining and designed a master suite upstairs that is coveted by all who see it. :) I even had a personal shopper for furniture and decor to complete the picture! WOW!They worked well at accommodating my wish lists while guiding me to making good choices. They presented design choices and color themes with a "story" in the presentation to help me visualize. I always felt like MY project was their top priority. Every day the job site was clean "as a whistle" as they say. I'd often bring friends over to see the progress and they almost always exclaimed they had never seen a work site so tidy. (Did I mention the special care they took in making sure the original woodwork/floors were not damaged during the renovation??)I've done a major renovation in the past that was truly the typical ulcer inducing, stressful experience. This was the complete opposite. On top of all that, they moved me and decorated the house incorporating personal items, family heirlooms and mementos mixed in with fun new items. I came home and felt like I was on the HGTV channel with the crowd screaming, "Move the bus!!"

Our family was interested in a property, but it was already too small for our family, and it was in an area where there was not a whole lot of options as far as city codes and what not. We had Dale design a couple different options for the property seeing if we were able to transform an 800 square foot two bedroom one bathroom home into a 4 bedroom 2 and a half bath home, basically redesigning the entire home to suit our needs. Although in the end, we decided not to move forward with buying the home due to the project just being completely out of our scope and with the codes of the city, we were only able to come up with a three bedroom home. We had our own ideas in how the design should go, and he was extremely patient with us in finding ways to meet our needs in the close to six months he worked with us, with just creating different layouts of the home. We are definitely reaching out to Dale anytime we have a house renovation project to utilize his expertise in design for our home. He demonstrated knowledge and had the patience with us wanting something that just was not plausible.
