Total Remodel By Chase

We hired Chase in June 2022. We were very excited to finally get our house redone including the floors refinished, painting, new ice maker, wine fridge, a pocket door, converting the area under the stairs into a pool bath. Our project started in early June. We fired them mid November for breach of contract, failure to complete our project to our specifications. At the time of termination, our wood floors were not completed, some painting still left to be completed and our new bathroom still isn’t completed. Here are a list of (some) items they did shoddy work on or didn’t complete (it’s Mid November). 1) We went from dark to light wood and the floor refinishing crew didn’t sand close enough to the walls- they put the first coat of sealer on before we noticed the floors bled into the walls. In addition, they didn’t push the old dark nail heads in and use lighter wood fill. They didn’t remove the dark old wood fill in the large cracks. We demanded they come out to fix it and they did a very poor job once again- sealer was accumulating into dark areas around the edges and some dropped off the stairs to the floor below staining it. We had them back out and the floor refinishing guy said “he fixed it” yet simply lightened the stains, didn’t do the remaining nail heads, and still didn’t address the bleeding look into the walls. 2:) The painter charged us for 53 gallons of primer and we live in a 3600 square foot house and not every room was painted. We tried getting our money back once we noticed this gross misuse of materials. In addition, the painter still had lots of touch ups to complete. 3) chase tried charging us 7800 dollars for a pocket door when the cost was really 780. The carpenters misjudged the height and there was an 1.5 inch gap from the floor to the new door. We had to hire our own carpenter who charged us 1k to remove and redo. 4:). We were charged 10k for a project manager on a 70k project We managed the project after we realized nothing was getting completed on time or correctly. We left our house for what was suppose to be a week at 250 dollars a night yet two weeks later, the floors are still to be completed, and we now need to hire a new floor crew to come fix it bc they refuse to address the areas of concern My advice to anyone, do not pay a 20% premium to hire sub par contractors. You could easily do the project yourself and get quality results in a more timely manner. If anyone has questions before hiring him, please email me at gregphansen@me.com. FYI: At one point, I did a small test area along the walls with my own hand sander to see if the issue was inadequate sanding close to the baseboards (chase had the painter come out to paint the baseboards BEFORE the floors). The flooring guy tried to blame ME event though my test area proved my point.

We worked with Chase and his team and were extremely happy with the communication, thoroughness, and end result of our pantry project. Our PM, Matt DeFilippis was so great to work with. Matt was always so pleasant and happy to chat with us anytime we had any questions or concerns. We’ll be doing additional projects with the Total Remodel by Chase team in the future.

We selected Total Remodel by Chase to do a full master bath remodel. Working with Scooter and having his knowledge and expertise made a difficult project run smoothly. From the beginning of the job Scooter makes sure you know what is happening on a daily basis, who is going to be in your home and what they would be doing. The crew's arrive on time, they are very polite and do great work and clean up after themselves. The work that they all did was beyond expectations, if there was something that didn't meet your expectations they would correct it until you were satisfied. The job finished on time and in budget. I would highly recommend them for any remodel project, and I will use them again.

I contracted with Chase, for a remodel of 3 bathrooms, sun room, utility room, and a large kitchen. The job included lots of floor tiling in all these room, removal of wallpapering and repainting with textured surface, removing 'popcorn' ceilings and replacing with textured finish, new bathroom fixtures and commodes, new shower in master bath, and other small work. His quote was competitive, and change orders were fairly priced. He started on time as promised, and finished at his projected time. He or his project manager were always available, and kept me up-to-date with subcontractor activities on a daily basis, so I knew who was coming, how long they would be there, what they would be doing. Very important to us was the integrity and politeness of his workers and subs. They were very well-mannered and professional, as well as skilled. The quality of their work was excellent, and Chase would do anything for us to make sure we would be pleased. He aggressively pursued the highest quality while the work was being done, making many visits to our home to inspect the work and get corrections on things I didn't even notice. My overall summary, the quality of the work was perfect, the pricing was within my expectations and budget, and, did I mention? The quality of his work was excellent. Yes, I would use him again, and I would recommend him.
