We couldn't be happier with the experience we had with Cam and the team at YBB for our whole-home remodel. A project of this scale is a massive undertaking, and while there are always going to be a few hiccups along the way, Cam’s planning and execution were top-tier. The biggest thing that sets them apart is the **quality of the work**. The attention to detail in our house is honestly outstanding, and the finished product feels incredibly high-end. You can really see the pride they take in every square inch of the build. Two other things that really surprised us (in the best way possible) were the timing and the budget: * **Reliable timing:** Cam estimated our move-in date accurately to within about a week. Given how often construction projects drag on, we were incredibly impressed by that. * **Budget accuracy:** Our final costs were within roughly **5% of the original estimate**. It’s rare to find a contractor who stays that close to the initial numbers. Part of what made this work was the **detailed Gantt chart** they provided. It made the entire process feel completely transparent; we always knew exactly where we stood on a weekly basis and had a clear view of what was planned for the weeks ahead. It really took the guesswork out of the project and kept us extremely well-informed throughout. YBB definitely isn’t the cheapest option out there, but in our opinion, they are absolutely worth the money for the peace of mind, the accurate scheduling, and the superior results. All of their subcontractors were fantastic to work with as well. In terms of advice for future clients, just be ready to make a ton of decisions! Cam and Sam were incredibly helpful in navigating all the choices we had to make, and we found that being ready to make a call on things fairly quickly was a big part of what kept the project on track. Also, while we could always get things done over email and text, jumping on a quick call or meeting in person was usually the best way to dive into the finer details. If you’re looking for a team that delivers high-quality work and actually hits their deadlines, we highly recommend Cam and YBB.

When the plumbing in both of our upstairs bathrooms failed, we opted to expand the space and redesign the layout, which required also making adjustments to the front of our home. Thank goodness we opted to work with YBB on the project. We cannot recommend them highly enough. From the very start, the YBB team demonstrated an exceptional level of professionalism and expertise. They took the entire project down to the studs, completely reimagined the layout, and delivered a finished result that exceeded every expectation. What truly set them apart was their ability to manage every moving part seamlessly, from navigating the permitting process with the City of San Ramon with ease, to coordinating an outstanding architect, to keeping the daily schedule running like clockwork. One of the things we appreciated most was being able to see real, visible progress every single day. It gave us tremendous confidence that the project was in the right hands. We contracted with Cam and YBB to remodel our kitchen, build a new pantry, and remodel 2 bathrooms and the laundry room. Our kitchen remodel involved knocking down a wall between our kitchen and formal dining room to create more of an open space. We also ended up contracting with them on a separate project to fix a serious home exterior issue with damaged stucco and leakage due to defects when our home was built. Friends who had worked with Cam/YBB on their extensive home remodel referred us. The YBB team did an incredible job with our friends’ home - the work was super high-quality and our friends assured us that the YBB team was professional and terrific at project management. We had a very positive experience with Cam and YBB. They connected us to the right vendors, hired high quality subs, and I truly appreciated their ability to manage a complex project and keep everything running on time. Most importantly, we had the utmost trust in Cam and his team. They never let us down. We are so happy with the results from the remodel. We even hired YBB to fix a serious home exterior issue unrelated to our remodel. We are so thankful for the peace we now have knowing our house is shored up during the rains we’ve been having. We highly recommend Cam and YBB for their trustworthiness, professionalism, experience and network (vendors and subs), and high-quality results.

In hindsight, it should have been a red flag that Cam was complaining about how picky his current clients were being. He was wrapping up a large remodel and was terribly annoyed by all of the “nitpicking” his clients were doing. Well, one year later, it was me that he found annoying and thought was nitpicking. I added 1000 sq feet to my home in Alamo, remodeled most of my existing house and I built an ADU in my backyard. Younger brothers builders consisted of owner Cam, admin Sam and Foreman Julian. They were the 2nd most expensive bid I received, but I wanted great quality and was willing to pay for it. I won’t list all of the cons, just the major ones. In general, the customer service was not good and there was a general “don’t bother me” attitude. Even when the HVAC guys forgot to reconnect the heater over Thanksgiving week. Cam wouldn’t come reconnect it until Monday morning. He lived 15 minutes away. The calendar / schedule rarely reflected what was actually happening. Level 4 drywall had many blebs and most frustrating- many nail heads were showing through the drywall, which Cam said was normal and he’d only fix for additional cost. Paint - I’ll just summarize by saying it was very sloppy. The junctions between tile and paint were not clear, there was overspray on many windows and skylights, there was paint / overspray on my new floors and along the baseboard, there was tape sticking out from underneath the baseboards. Stucco - my house was old and the stucco had many crack lines and was generally dingy looking, so I decided that I wanted to re-stucco the entire house rather than just the addition. I was given options on colors, but I said I just wanted something close to what I had already in texture and color. I didn’t even realize when the stucco was finished. I thought it was a base layer because it was so smooth. It started cracking and chunks were falling off the corners and bottom edges almost immediately. I was so upset. The reason I decided to stucco the entire house was to make it uniform and to fill in the cracks that I had in my existing stucco. The weather was very mild at the time, and Cam told that there was nothing they could do… It was just the soil in Alamo. He agreed to have the stucco guy come back once (and was clear it would be only once) for touch up, but he was clearly annoyed with my request and Cam at this point was acting like every request I had was annoying him. He had moved on to other projects months before and I was now that client who was “too picky and annoying”… just like the one he complained to me about. Well, the stucco repairs were done poorly. The color was too light and it was piled on too thick. The sub, “Paddy” said he hand mixes the color and he can’t be sure that when it dries, it

This review is extremely tardy, but we want to give five stars to Cam and his crew. We bought a 3,000 square foot house in Walnut Creek in March 2021 and hired a local residential designer to redesign the entire interior as well as update the exterior façade. We were referred to Cam Younger by this designer. Cam has a low-key approach and is a very likable guy. His bid was very detailed and he provided us with timeline of the project. Cam said that he grew up in a family of farmers in New Zealand and a timeline is the life blood of a farmer. Later on during the project, one of the subs told me that Cam is the only GC that they work with that uses such a detailed timeline for subs. It really helps the sub be able to know when they are needed and the timeline makes everyone more efficient. Cam estimated our project to be about eight months. Even during COVID and supply issues, Cam's timeline was pretty darn close and our project was completed in nine months start to finish. Cam's right-hand man is Julian. Julian is an artist and a true craftsman. We gave Julian a number of challenges during our project and Julian exceeded our expectations on all of them. Julian's attention to detail was A+. Cam uses specific subs for tile, hardwood, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, painting, concrete and dry wall. Every single sub that Cam works with is a true professional. And every single sub was a great person to get to know. We spent a lot of time with all of these crews and we are grateful that they were always there to make us happy. Another key attribute of Cam was his pro-active and upfront dialogue when they ran into cost overruns. Our house was built in 1974 and once the demo occurred, Cam was faced with some large obstacles. However, in the end, we know that Cam saved us money. And those areas that we decided to spend more based on Cam's suggestions, we are really happy now that we've lived in the house for over a year. Thank you Cam, Julian and Sam! We love our home on the hill!

We love our new home! Our remodel included the addition of a master bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room, as well as moving the kitchen and raising the family room floor and roof. Nothing but respect and gratitude to Team YBB (Younger Brothers Builders) ...Cam, Julian, and Sam for making it happen. We’ve all heard the contractor horror stories: cost overruns, schedule delays, and ‘you’ll be sick of your contractor by the time the project is over.’ None of that came pass in our experience with YBB. If anything, we finish our remodel having even more respect for Team YBB than when we started. We lived in a couple of bedrooms during the project, and Cam understood our needs before we did, making adjustments such as temporary winter lighting in the construction areas to keep everything as livable and comfortable as possible. Julian is a craftsman, attending to all the details that make for a spectacular finished project – We love the family room built-in he designed. Sam kept us making the decisions we needed to make in time to keep the project moving – She also has a nice eye for style, offering detail insights that helped with some of the decisions. We were so impressed with all the crews YBB brought in, demolition, foundation, framing, plumbing, electrical etc.. When it comes to construction all were first rate, personable, communicative, and frankly, quite fun to be around. We learned a lot. The quality of the finished project speaks for itself. When it comes to construction, there are no good surprises, and we ran into a few. But when we did, we agreed that we had encountered the unexpected, and Cam worked with us to find practical and equitable solutions. And in the end, it didn’t impact the schedule much. Cam and team were also good about offering suggestions that we ultimately really loved. For example, when the kitchen cabinet design called for four drawers, Cam suggested we might find three deeper drawers more useful, and we are so glad he did. We have dozens more examples just like this. We can’t deny that re-models are stressful, especially when living in the house, and decision fatigue is real, but Team YBB made our experience so much better than it could have been. We were new to home renovation and bought a house that required some substantial known issues, 'as is.' The team at Younger Brothers Builders provided an accurate estimate and allowed for installment payments, which was helpful. We completed a half-bathroom complete renovation and a full bathroom complete renovation, along with some scattered electrical work, plumbing work and other small 'projects' that emerged along the way (e.g. removing a weird closet/wall from a bedroom and relocating that closet back to it's likely original spot, fixing up a closet space under the stairs). They helped us understand where the previous owners' DIY work was not up to code and helped us remedy those situations. The team got the appropriate permits from our town and helped us understand what we needed to order and provided guidance on where to purchase. The team was very thorough and found a number of unforeseen issues that had been missed in the inspection, but pivoted with us as the scope and breadth of the project changed. The team was mindful of protecting our new floors and were very tidy at the end of each day (which was great, since we were occupying the house for a good portion of the renovation work). By the end, we've been extremely pleased with both the bathrooms and the other miscellaneous work that has been completed. The attention to detail and craftsmanship has been excellent. Their communication with us was attentive along the way. We have a few more stages of work to get to in our new home, and plan to work with Younger Brothers Builders again when we're ready.

YBB was an extreme joy to work with. We bought our house site unseen and between Sam, Cam and Julian we couldn't have been in better hands. The scope of work included the gutting and updating of 2.5 bathrooms, retexturing all existing "cave like" walls, floor replacement, lighting/electrical and pretty much removing all traces of an older style. The overall feel of the project was an almost whole house upgrade/renovation. Sam's patience and attention to your design style was warming and thoughtful (very much appreciated). Cam's practical approach to where to put your money and improve the home was amazing and refreshing (which always was accompanied by some kind of joke). Julian's eye for detail and precision did not go unnoticed. My family and I keep hunting for projects to call them back to do but unfortunately they left us a beautiful and warm home that for the first time we can really say feels like us. For that we will always be thankful to YBB.

We were looking for a general contractor to execute our architect's plans for a whole home remodel. We met with several contractors before YBB but couldn't find the right fit in terms of style/approach, budget, and pricing structure (fixed price vs. T&M). When we met with Cam (the owner), he was professional but laid back, honest and upfront about what was realistic in terms of timeline and budget for our project, and asked questions about what were the most important elements so we could think through areas to prioritize to meet our budget. We ultimately decided on completing the project in two phases. Phase 1 included demolition (including new foundation) and remodel of the front half of our home, including kitchen remodel, living room, guest bathroom, adding a bedroom for our daughter, mudroom, and new garage. Cam and his team continued to work with us during the pre-contract phase to keep us updated on their project calendar and when might be a good time to start the work. We couldn't have been happier with the entire YBB team during the construction phase – overall they are all very available and responsive via text and email, kept all the subs on track and informed of project details, and pushed where needed without creating additional stress and burden on us. The YBB crew was respectful of our home and space and we always felt like we were in good hands and well-cared for. Specifically: - Sam (office manager) coordinated the project via email and text like a master conductor or JFK air traffic controller. She kept us up to date on the various workstreams. She also has quite an eye for design and we appreciated her input on the project. - Julian (Foreman) is kind, trustworthy, and patient. He was a calming presence directing the crew on site and is a skilled craftsman in his own right, installing custom pantry shelves, wainscoting, and general woodworking. - Cam (owner) was the perfect combination of professionalism, candor, and personality. He was calm in every situation and we were never worried about the status of our project. He took ultimate ownership, was very realistic about budget and timeline, and when we had questions, he always made sure to respond directly via phone or email the same day or directed us to appropriate members of his team and made sure they addressed our concerns. One of Cam’s best qualities is his ability to connect on a personal level and not take himself too seriously, imparting a sense of calm and levity during what is typically described by people as a stressful time in their lives. The YBB team delivered the project on schedule and on budget, despite dealing with covid restrictions and working on multiple clients' projects concurrently with ours. They were a true pleasure to work with. We will definitely be working with them when we are ready for phase 2 of our remodel.

We highly recommend Cam and his staff at YBB. They did a substantial remodel for us (kitchen, dining, family room, laundry room, mudroom, kids bedroom and bathroom) and we could not be happier with the outcome. Cam is wonderful to work with, very responsive and has great relationships with his sub contractors (all of whom are excellent as well). We appreciated his honesty when things came up, he always had practical solutions that you can tell come from his years of experience. We will 100% be going with YBB when we remodel the upstairs next.

We own a 2000 square foot condo in Danville- love the location but the closed-in floor plan made the place dark. We wanted to open it up and do whatever we could to bring in more natural light. It's an interior unit (shared walls with neighbors on either side) so adding windows wasn't really an option. In addition to making the place feel more spacious and open, we wanted to enlarge the downstairs bathroom and connect it to the downstairs bedroom. We wanted this bathroom to be ADA accessible. We also wanted to significantly change the Master Bathroom- enlarge the closet area, have a separate toilet space, and have a larger shower. We hired Younger Brothers Builders because he had done a huge remodel for our son and daughter-in-law and their experience had been very positive. He came highly recommended and we had seen firsthand the quality of the work that YBB does. Having had previous experiences with building custom homes, the top priority was the integrity and honesty of the contractor. Again, Cam had an excellent reputation and we had complete trust in both his ability and his business practices. Our trust has been very well placed. We've had a very positive experience working with YBB. Cam collaborated with the architect we'd hired to do the design. This went smoothly and worked very well. One key to the success of our project is that Cam communicates very well. Any e-mail / text/ or call is answered promptly and very efficiently. His office assistant, Samantha Thoma is absolutely outstanding. She's really on top of every detail and very helpful and pleasant. We've also had a great deal of contact with Cam's foreman, Julian Chairez, who is absolutely wonderful. He's a true craftsman, a perfectionist and a gentleman. Cam deals with sub-contractors who are first-rate. This is something to really pay attention to!! I speak from experience here. One thing that made this project so enjoyable for me is that YBB referred me to people who were great to work with-- cabinet company, tile and flooring, appliances, plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, home theater, etc. The fact that I was able to meet safely with all of these different companies, in the middle of the pandemic, and receive excellent service from them, contributed greatly to the success of the finished project. Everything we hoped to achieve when we embarked on this complete remodel has been done. My husband and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND Cam Younger and Younger Brothers Builders. I know that many people think that building or remodeling is destined to be a miserable experience and very stressful and I understand that because that was our experience one time many years ago. But it can also be very positive. Cam is everything that you could want in a contractor- he's honest, capable, a problem-solver, efficient, and a genuinely nice person. We would recommend him without reservation to any friend, family member, or acquaintance.
