Without any hesitation, we hired Zander homes when we purchased a home that needed renovations and specific projects to complete an unfinished home. We were looking for a company that would turn our house into a home... and that is what Zander did! We originally met with Alex to learn about the building process, as we were looking for a home that might need renovations or an area to build a new home. From the beginning, Alex was always honest and a partner. He encouraged us to reach out if we had any questions and was very genuine. The thing that stuck with us the most, was Alex's commitment to helping us when looking at homes. We needed someone who would be honest with us and let us know if things were in our budget. No matter what the question was or what kind of guidance we needed, he was always there. He truly partnered with us. When we purchased our new house, and knew we would need to hire a company for the projects that we were looking to complete, we immediately went with Zander Homes. After the continued support and advice that Alex would give us and his true desire to help us in such an honest way, we felt we did not need to look anywhere else. During the various projects and renovations, Zander homes would bring professionals who were kind and hard working. Our Project Manager, DJ, always made sure things were done correctly and there was never a question that he did not take the time to answer and help us with. DJ's kindness and professionalism created a great partnership and trust throughout the entire process. We had/have complete trust in DJ and appreciate all that he has done for us. We met the Trakhtman’s when we were looking to relocate to Baltimore County from Howard County. Because we needed to settle in time for school starting and the inventory was light, we purchased a home and decided to renovate it to our taste. After working with Regina as our realtor, it was clear that Zander Homes was the perfect choice of contractor to help us achieve our vision. Alex is extremely customer-focused and passionate about custom construction. Zander partners with the best specialists in cabinetry, countertops, plumbing/ HVAC, painting, flooring/ tile, and electrical. His team works to bring it all together and they specialize in high-end trim and wood-working with attention to detail that leads to exquisite results. When inevitable challenges arose that go along with these projects, Alex was always there to make it right and see things through to resolution. Zander took our vision and made it a reality. Our home is updated and feels like a high-end custom build. Our kitchen is functional and beautiful- a perfect chef’s kitchen. Alex’s team built custom closet systems in the pantry, hall and bedroom closets to make space more usable and tidy. Our dining room is decked out with gorgeous trim, making it an elegant entertaining space. But, mostly, Alex made this OUR home. And we love it.

I reached out to Zander Homes and hired them to collaborate on a Design-Build project in Baltimore. In spite of great references, myself and my client proceeded to endure a nightmare of a project. The project manager was nothing more than a salesman who “subbed out” the renovation to incompetent sub-contractors who did not show up. When they did, the quality of work was sub-standard. Our carefully-made Interior Design selections were ignored and substitution after substitution installed. I could never go back to this company or recommend them after this ordeal. Even after 20 years in the business, I learned many lessons here. That said, we called on them after the 3rd floor bathroom began leaking into the 2nd floor several months later (did I say sub-standard work?). They send REAL subs to fix and clean up the mess. Fingers crossed nothing else falls apart.

"Excellent" is the only way one can describe our experience of custom home building with Zander Homes. When we decided to build a house in Guilford (a very prestigious historical community in Baltimore City), we knew it will be challenging as there were lot of requirements (such as copper gutters, real wood windows, architectural details etc.) from the architectural committee at Guilford that we had to comply with. We were glad that we chose Alex as we believe that no other builder would be able to accomplish what Alex did in terms of meeting all those requirements and be able to build our dream house per our liking, within our budget. After meeting a couple of other builders, when we met Alex, we knew right away that he is the right choice. He spend time listening to our expectations and gave very valuable feedback throughout the construction phase which helped us make the right decisions while making selections. Alex was with us when we made selection for the interior tiles, counter tops, kitchen cabinets, lighting, appliances etc and his feedback was very valuable. Alex pays attention to details and his craftsmanship is superior. His crew is also very pleasant to work with and listens to you. We were impressed by the work culture at Zander homes where emphasis is laid on client satisfaction and Alex went extra lengths to fulfill our expectations. We spent a long time looking for a home. We never even considered a custom build until we drove by a Zander Homes sign near Old Bosley one day. We had already started a project with a big box builder nearby, but that project was not fulfilling our vision. We contacted Alex. He was so friendly and open about what his team can do. We sat down outlined what we were looking for. He brought plans at our price point which we were able to review and modify to our specifics. The construction process is an amazing one, especially when you witness the passion and expertise of each craftsman who works for Zander homes. During construction and after moving in there were some glitches, but Alex brings a Zen-like aura of calm and understanding. His team is always ready and able to correct any missteps. “My pleasure” We have been in our new home since October. Zander Homes has taken care every detail inside and out. They have checked on us often and have made every effort to ensure that have settled into our “dream home”. After meeting with several contractors, we hired Zander Homes to remodel our basement. We worked directly with Alex, the owner of the company. Alex was a pleasure to work with from start to finish! He definitely takes great pride in his craft, and has a passion for remodeling and construction. Alex worked very closely with us to make sure our goals were met and that we were happy through every step of the process. We found him to be incredibly responsive and available, which we truly appreciated. Alex was especially great at getting a feel for our overall vision, and finding a way to make it happen. He was able to give us soaring basement ceilings by relocating our HVAC into bulkheads, and add a stunning wood plank inlay to make it all look seamless and beautiful. He had great supplier options for custom features, like our cast stone fireplace surround and iron stair railings. He also completely understood our vision for a marble bar with wood planked shelving, and effortlessly made it happen. We were excited to show our families at Thanksgiving, who were incredibly impressed with the massive transformation. Overall, we are thrilled with the outcome, and especially the quality of the craftsmanship, which feels very high-end and well-executed. We would recommend (and have recommended!) Zander Homes to anyone who is looking to remodel or build a home.

Alex was an amazing resource in our home build! We reached out to Zander Homes for a consultation in support of the home design, costing/estimation, and to learn more about the general build process. We met with Alex who was extremely clear and informative about the home build process. He walked us through the entire process and answered all of our questions. We had Zander homes to do our custom home about a year ago, now the home is completed, and we are very satisfied. Not only Alex is dedicated to our floor plan to its full customization, but also he provided useful recommendations, tips, latest information on building a new home. We had a wonderful experience with Zander Homes! Alex from the beginning was with us each step of the way. We saw many of his properties and he answered all our questions! we showed him where we were thinking of building and with his honest answers we felt secure in moving forward with the designs. Meeting about budget and what we expected in the house was easy and he really worked with us to make our dream house possible! Once the building started Alex kept us informed with weekly updates of what was happening that week and made sure we know when the cement was going to be poured because he know we wanted to put our hand prints in it! a small detail like that may seem small but his attention to detail enabled us to have everything we wanted (even our hand prints in the foundation of our house). Walking through and seeing things in person enables you to see what spaces are going to be and see any changes to be made. It was so wonderful with Alex. "Sure, no problem" for everything from making my daughters closet bigger, creating a book nook in my other daughters room to moving the pantry door down to fit a cabinet for my cake baking supplies. Whether it was difficult or not we never knew and Alex just handled it for us to truly create our custom home for us! Alex was with us for picking the interior tile, counter tops and floors. His vendors were wonderful to work with! No matter how many times I went (and it was a lot) they were happy to help me look again and again with paint swatches or anything I needed. Creating a custom home is a lot of work and details!! You pick each and every single thing from floors to counter tops to designing closet and picking grout colors and Zander Homes is with you every part of the way. I designed a special project space for our kids playroom and Alex said "absolutely" when I asked if he could build it for me! This was something that was over and beyond and really shows how wonderful Zander Homes is to work with! They did everything to create a beautiful custom house for us but all the attention to detail and how they really put us and our specific wishes for our family first helped make our house our Home!
