    “Steve was a great partner to work with on our recent net zero Design/Build collaboration! Steve was able to take our detailed list of design requirements and create an incredibly functional home plan that ultimately satisfied all of our needs and desires. Highlights of our project included: - The final home plan was the product of a highly collaborative and iterative design process that relied upon 3D renderings and walkthroughs to test and review the plan at each stage of design. This allowed us to validate the plan and, where necessary, make adjustments before construction actually started. We can honestly say that there is nothing material we would change about the design. - Steve’s extensive background in modular and net zero construction ensured an extremely energy-efficient home (HERS score of 11) - Our building envelope presented some interesting positional challenges that Steve was able to solve elegantly and efficiently. - Steve not only accommodated our desire to do the interior finishing work (i.e., cabinetry, tiling, flooring, painting, etc.) ourselves, but in fact actively facilitated our ability to do so by adjusting his build plan to complete our workshop well before the rest of the house was completed.     “I contacted Evan Dyer initially to look at building a Post and Beam home in Camden, Me. After looking at the entire project, I decided to purchase and existing home. I asked Evan if he would look at an existing Post and Beam house and review the renovations I wanted. He met me at the house and walked me through the areas of concern and things to consider in renovating a Post and Beam home. (Trust me there are major differences.) Based on working with Evan I felt I could purchase the home and do the renovations within my budget. I contracted with Evan to manage the renovations. He was responsive, had good ideas and was able to provide an insight that is unique to Post and Beam construction. I would definitely higher him to renovate or build a Post and Beam home in the future.”

    “Materials and workmanship were excellent. Fit and finish looked great. Peter Rice and crew listened very well and undertook modifications to the plans as we wished or as conditions such as terrain or prevailing winds or sun direction required. After 10 percent of the way through the construction project, I had complete confidence in Peter Rice to the point i didn't need to visit the site too frequently.”

    “We have hired LakeHouse Design Build for several major projects at our lakeside cabin in Belgrade, Maine, and have been thrilled with the work done. Projects included a complete rebuild of portions of the main floor, including a new entrance porch, redesigned kitchen, bathroom, interior stairways, shelving, wiring updates, exterior patio, exterior stairways, and others. The work done was based on our wishes and requirements, but the design and details primarily reflected Mr. Bill Hudson's unique skills as a builder and designer. He was able to identify options that did not occur to us, and came up with designs that preserved the old camp character of the building while incorporating the modernization and comfort we sought. He was very skilled at managing modifications to cope with engineering and other challenges discovered in dealing with an 80+ year old cabin. Mr. Hudson's work reflects a remarkable attention to detail and quality. He is meticulous, careful, and will not accept poor quality work or materials. He does virtually all the work himself or with some assistance, and does not leave things to subcontractors in his absence. He communicated with us frequently and in detail, including regular photo project reports. He promptly involved us in any decisions, changes, or other planning information as the project progressed. His results have been wonderful for us - and are the source of constant favorable comments from neighbors, visitors, and others. We initially learned of his work from several neighbors whose projects reflected similar quality work from him. After researching area contractors before engaging this work, I had no doubt he was the best choice for our projects. We would hire him again for additional work without hesitation, and I have no reservations in recommending him to others.”

What I didn’t know back then was that he was a brilliant designer with a vast knowledge of construction and a true gift for building exceptionally crafted bespoke homes, while still watching out for your bottom line. Marc built and designed my dream house with me. “With" being the operative word, because Marc and his team of designers and builders did for me what I couldn’t find in other builders and designers: a true willingness to listen and collaborate with you, incorporating your ideas along with insights that Marc gleans from getting to know you and your lifestyle. In the end, he puts all of this together into one cohesive design that works for you, your budget, and your design aesthetic, creating a beautifully designed and built home. Marc’s team also worked tirelessly to come up with innovative ways to save money, thereby allowing me to splurge on other areas of the house during the building process. Plus, Marc’s leadership and expertise in green building practices continues to save me money every year—I have yet to turn on my air conditioning in the summer and my heating bill in the winter dwarfs those of my friends and their new houses.     “We gutted & re-configured our kitchen and our contractor/builder of choice was Blue Spruce Joinery. Our overall experience was wonderful. Not only was the work of the highest quality but Tom Higbee's assistance with the design was extremely helpful. He was able to make our ideas a reality but at the same time point out what ideas wouldn't work. When that was the case, the alternatives he provided were in line with our vision of our dream kitchen. Tom and his crew were at our house when they committed to be, stayed within the budget we set, finished the project in a timely manner and left our new kitchen clean. My husband and I love to cook and after three years are still in love with the kitchen Blue Spruce Joinery created for us.”

    “I hired K Construction to remodel a bathroom in my vacation rental property. I live out of state, so communication was mostly through e-mail. Due to no fault of their own there were scheduling delays which would have caused rental problems for me, but rather than allow that to happen, they somehow finished on time! The end project is beautiful and professional. Throughout the process, the project manager was quick to respond to questions and offered ideas when I got stuck on design and finish choices. They never left a mess, but always left behind an immaculate home. I would hire them again in an instant and highly recommend this company!! -Liz”
