Freedom Iron Doors

We were looking for sometime for a new front door for our home and decided in Freedom Iron Doors for feel and quality of door we seen at a a local home show. Scheduled an appointment and at that time we started the design and order process for our new door. Build process took 8+ months but we were told that upfront. Installation date finally arrived and that’s when the issues started. Install took one day unfortunately my wife was only able to be home for install, installer did not center door in opening and left door with little to no revile on one side and exposed foam installation on the other. Our home has Hardi cement siding and trim but Freedom Iron Doors used a wood trim in place of the Hardi product. Inside door trim was 1/2”+ away from base board trim, they said the painters would fill and paint to fix! After many phone calls and emails I was told they would fix installation issues and replace my trim with correct materials. When second installation was scheduled three gentlemen showed up, one was driving a truck within Garage Door Company Independent contractor on door we were assured all workers were employees not subcontractors. GDC man said he does garage doors on the side but when I asked Freedom Iron doors they stated the truck was new and he haven’t removed lettering. Two different stories. Paint and touch up day. Two gentlemen showed up to repaint my trim and fix all the blemishes with door with NO PAINT! They stated they paint all trim black it makes the door look bigger they said. We were asked what color we wanted and black was suggested but we preferred it be white like the original and to match the home. During the conversation with the two painters I told them to do everything but paint and I would have it painted by our painter if they don’t paint other than black. They must have called Freedom Iron Door office for I got a call not longer after the conversation with them and was told I wanted them off my property, NOT TRUE. I wanted them to do everything up to dipping a paint brush and I would have it painted. The person who called me was out at our home and I know we talked about paint color and replacing materials with same or like product not low grade material. Our take on Freedom Iron Doors is very unorganized and rushed to complete jobs with out making sure job is done right. I sent emails and text messages to all contacts I had and the ones who responded all gave me different responses back to my concerns with installation who is in charge? Door was reinstalled correctly on 10/14/22 and painters were out on 10/21/22. I was contacted 10 minutes after painters left for final payment. Just a rushed company, I never said I would not pay the final 10% of $710.00 I think rushing like that was unprofessional. We LOVE the door itself we just have a bad feeling about the service received by Freedom Iron Doors, had we known the issues ahead of time with them we may have continued looking for a door company.

Unfortunately at this time I'm not able to recommend Freedom Iron Doors. They do not have a good working relationship with their supplier and when a problem arose with our order, Freedom Iron Door were non responsive to our inquiries and pushed blame onto others. They alleged that they had not been notified by their supplier that our door, which we were told was to be on a container from China had been arbitrarily bumped by the supplier and would be delayed further until the next ship sets sail. 3 weeks after our door was to have sailed, and after repeated attempts to inquire about its status, we still hadn't heard it was on its way (or in our case, wasn't). We were in the area where their store is located and stopped in to inquire in person and were told - "Oh, we just heard now that your door was bumped from the container and didn't sail", with a follow on comment of "sorry, it's out of our control". Furthermore, we were given a production lead time of 12 weeks, which Freedom Iron Door missed by more than 6 weeks, and we were never told that the lead time doesn't include 30 days for shipment from China to the US, followed by 2 weeks of clearing customs and transit to Texas, followed by wait list for the door to be installed. What on the surface was communicated as 12 weeks production lead time, was really closer to 20 to 22 weeks for our door to be installed. Had we known this up front we would have gone with a different supplier. Freedom Iron Doors was very deceptive. Should things change between now and when we receive our door, I'll update this review.

We decided to use Freedom Iron Doors after seeing the quality of the product at a home show. We were able to select the door that was perfect for our home and the finish work was unbelievable!
