Milan Iron Door

Absolutely one of the worst companies out there!! BEWARE!! I ordered a large sliding door from them over 1 year ago including installation. They sent a couple of installers who had absolutely no clue or idea what they were doing. One guy seemed too well dressed to be an “installer” and was wearing loafers, and the other was just a kid who seemed definitely underage. After spending all day trying to install this door, they finally realized that they had the wrong door. I ordered a right opening door from the outside, but they showed up with a left opening door. I thought ok, things happen, so the next day, they show up with the right doors and proceeded to “install” it. Well they did, and did not even bother to waterproof the opening or level the metal frame properly. The frame was so out of plumb that the door jammed midway when opening it because the frame was bowed. They used expanding foam to seal the gaps between the frame and studs which is an acceptable industry standard, EXCEPT they used the WRONG TYPE of expanding foam! This caused the door to bind and scratched the lower frame heavily when opening and closing. Not only that, the workers made a mess, didn’t clean after themselves and left a mountain of cigarettes buds all over my back and front lawn. Unfortunately I trusted them to install it while I could not be present. After noting various problems with the installation, I immediately called Milano Iron door and spoke to Andy, who seemed very helpful and reassuring. The following day, Jim who I assume is the owner showed up and looked at the door and said that I was being picky. Nonetheless he reluctantly agreed to replace the frame and reinstall the door because the balance due on the project. A few days went by and they attempted to reinstall the door and the same issues occurred! This time after consulting with a different contractor, he stated that the main reason why the frame was so out of square was because they used the wrong frame! They kept using the original frame for a left opening door!! Instead of a right opening door frame. This meant that the frame was installed backwards! I once again contacted and emailed Andy with pictures and proof, to which he replied that they would be immediately ordering and supplying the correct replacement frame after our final and agreed upon payment. I immediately made the payment, and told him that I needed the frame immediately and would have another more competent contractor install it. Meanwhile I had a huge hole in the side of my house until the replacement frame arrived. After numerous back/forth emails reassuring me that it was ordered, NOTHING! It’s been over 1 year! Fortunately after waiting around for 10 weeks (yes I did not have a door installed for that long), I sourced the correct frame on my own and finally installed it. With the correct frame the door fit easily and beautifully with no issues. Not only did this is project cost me more time but more money in the end!!

My experience has been the worst I have ever underwent with a company and trust me when I say this, I will never. EVER. deal with this company again. It started out with ordering just one single iron door through lowes. The only minor mishap was a delivery delay (door was ordered in November of 2020 and expected delivery was January 11,2021.) When the door finally arrived on January 28th I reached out to the shipping carrier Saia (feel free to fact check me. Their info is 1-800-765-7242) to know where my door was and they told me that Milan iron door owed them money so they held my door. I ended up calling Milan iron doors to figure out what was going on and spoke to Jim Hoseini and he told me that everything would be fixed. He made a replacement in 2 days(that seemed suspiciously quick) to be sent out. I told him that was fine. A week and half goes by and the shipment arrives only to find out that they were the wrong doors. I called Jim to tell him the problem and he told me that we could keep the doors, not to worry about it, and if the correct door arrived that I could keep that one also. He Later ended up changing his mind and demanded that we send them back. That was fine by me, all I asked for him to do was to pay for the handling fees. He wanted me to pull my contractors off of my project to repackage said doors. With the promise to reimburse me for the labor. After being told by saia they were owed money and him not keeping his word I honestly did not trust him or this company enough to willingly be scammed out of labor fees. I let him know the doors were here. He kept requesting my contractors information and when I refused to give him the information, he began acting hostile. Then the original door arrived and it was still not the correct door we ordered. I called jim and asked him to stop sending me doors, he proceeded to hang up on me. I then called and spoke to a rep named Andy and explained everything that has happened. I understand these doors are not mine. I told Andy they could come and get the doors, but I would not be making myself responsible for any packaging, labor, or shipping fees as it was not my mistake or responsibility. Later that night I got a threatening text from jim stating that I am a scammer and that he would be sending me an invoice of $10850. I paid 2,000 for the door I originally ordered, so I don’t understand where that amount comes from for the 4 incorrect doors that were sent out. I proceeded to let him know that I don’t want the doors and that the doors need to be picked up and uninstalled out of my building. He responded by threatening legal action which is fine, as I have plenty of proof of how badly this entire process has been handled. I don’t want the doors they are ALL the wrong doors. They need to be picked up and I the customer should be held responsible to pay the fees to fix the mistakes made over and over again by Milan iron doors. BUYERS BEWARE of this “company”.
