I wanted to share my recent experience with Simpson doors for other potential customers who are considering Simpson for custom doors for their homes. We are going through a major home renovation and a major focal point of our design included the entryway door. After evaluating multiple options, we selected Simpson doors to build our Nantucket entryway door.
We entered this process with full awareness of the current state of the supply chain and a slower process. Even with adjusted expectations, our experience was challenging from the onset. Simpson seemingly makes a quality product, but currently has one custom door design associate for the entire United States customer base. As a result, we regularly waited 1-2 weeks for the design associate to turn around a single CAD design. It took a few design iterations to finalize the door design and we were then presented with a 12 week lead time for the door. To make matters worse, when the door arrived it had a major mistake in the design.
Spending 4+ months designing and waiting on our Nantucket entryway door was challenging enough, but the main reason I write this review is to describe the customer service experience afterward. While Simpson took accountability for the mistake, Simpson’s only offer to remedy the situation was to have us send the door back, and delay the completion of our project by months as we wait for them to fix the door or a build a new door from scratch. We had significant associated costs tied to this door arriving correct and in the delivery schedule promised by Simpson. We explained this to Simpson, but Simpson refused to compromise and offer any form of door rebate
to help compensate us as a customer for the financial burden their mistake imposed upon us. We were left with two options: keep a door with a design error that we paid $8K for or send the door back and delay our project for months while we wait for a new door. This was an extremely disappointing experience from start to finish with Simpson. The process was slow, the product was flawed and the customer experience was beyond underwhelming. I write this review to express my deep dissatisfaction with the Simpson brand as a customer and I would strongly caution anyone doing a home renovation from considering using Simpson doors in their project.

Horrible customer service from Simpson Door Company - stay far away from this company!!
Our designer assured us Simpson made quality doors, so we purchased four custom Douglas fir doors in July 2021. We were given a 6-week delivery time but the doors didn't arrive until late September. When we finally received our doors, one had an obvious bubble in the veneer. We also received a splintered door stop.
Our salesperson was surprised that Simpson shipped an obviously defective door. Simpson agreed to replace the defective door, but refuses to expedite our order. The estimated ETA for our door is late February 2022!
We now have to find another contractor to install our doors because our contractor has to move on to other projects. We're dreading trying to find someone to install our doors next spring.
I realize every company is facing supply chain issues/constraints. That said, the right thing for Simpson to do would be to expedite our order given it was their manufacturing mistake. I don't think it's fair that the customer has to deal with additional costs/delays through no fault on their part!
Simpson should have never shipped an obviously defective door! Avoid this company and save yourself endless aggravation and frustration!!

Very disappointed. Bought an exterior dutch door less than 1year ago. It’s only been hanging for 4 months. We painted black since it’s well shielded from sun and rain. Direct sun does not hit this door due to the way it’s facing and how the house shields it. The bottom panel has separated from its joint and can no longer close. I was informed today that the company, Simpson will not honor the warranty because it’s black.
The door cost me $2000. How can a company in good conscious not honor a warranty that’s less than a year old.
Their warranty says do not use dark colors if your door is exposed to direct sunlight. That is not the case here.

For the amount of money this door cost I was expecting better quality control. The top corner was chipped as well as a couple of gashes on the bottom. Worst of all is that the door has a warp. I could not return it as these things weren’t visible until we were installing it. I couldn’t wait months with no front door on my house.

Simpson Door Company has been TERRIBLE to deal with. The glass in our french and front doors showed up the first time with a seal failure and then the replacement had a yellow haze in the glass that made the windows look like you were looking through smoke! Had a different supplier out who noted this was also a glass seal failure. Simpson has not been easy to deal with on the warranty to fix this for the second time.....in fact they have told me it is not their problem and to take it up with their glass supplier!! Really?? It is their product!!!
Caution....The SIMPSON WARRANTY will only get you so far. The real cost is in the install and painting / staining that they don't cover so if you have a problem, expect to be out of pocket some significant $'s ($1000's!) because the warranty doesn't extend to that.
There are many other good door suppliers out there.....steer clear of Simpson if you have glass in your doors.

I am absolutely obsessed with the doors from Simpson. Our front door is a jaw dropper. We get so many compliments on it. They are so beautiful and well-made. All of our interior doors (including a barn door) are Simpson as well. 9 ft. interior doors really set the tone for the interior space. They go so well with our lodge style home. We were able to send a picture of what we wanted and Simspon delivered it in spades. This is the 2nd house that we've had Simpson Doors and we would highly recommend them to anyone.

I would give our new front door less than a star if possible. The sidelight came broken (and it took forever to get repaired) and the wood frame around other one is damaged. There is glue mushed out with blobs all around the glass in the door and sidelights and there are visible nails showing between the glass panes. Utterly horrible craftsmanship for such an extremely expensive door. DO NOT BUY!!

I'm specifically trying to remodel my house with products as local as possible, and especially am trying to avoid products from China. I contacted Simpson Doors and was assured their doors are made in Washington state, actually just 100 miles from my house. I was really excited about this. When I got the doors they are VERY clearly marked ON THE DOOR "made in China" When I called the company, the woman I spoke with said "Some of our interior doors are made in China" I expressed my extreme displeasure that I was lied to by the company. The woman apologized - empty words to me.
The store where I bought the doors wouldn't take them back, since they are a special order item.
I hate being lied to, hate that I could have found other doors for less money but went with Simson because they are local, and I especially, really, truly hate that I can't find local or US made products for my house at any price.

Comment from Simpson Door Company:
Hi there. Thanks so much for letting us know. We sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding. While most of our doors are here made here in the United States, there is a specific set of interior door lines that are manufactured outside the country. However, they do still carry with them the quality and promise of excellence you can expect from Simpson.

Simpson Door Company provides wonderful door designs and options for consumers to get excited about and design a door of their dreams for their home. The problem comes from the variation of what is shown online as a sample of what you can expect your door to look like. They have a wonderful online tool that will mockup how your door design should appear both by design style selected and glass options. However please be warned that what you see at least when it comes to their glass option of Seedy Baroque is misleading. Please do not make the mistake we did. I can not speak to their other glass offerings but in our case the Seedy Baroque glass was a tremendous failure in quality and appearance. It looks nothing like what you will see online. The manufacturing execution is one of the poorest examples I have ever seen of this type of glass.
Unfortunately photos do not adequately capture the complete picture of the poor quality of the esthetic of the glass and how it should appear. Wish I could load a video. Their online description of the glass is appropriate to how Seedy Baroque glass should appear however what we received in our door does not fall into that category. I will not elaborate this issue but rather I will warn you that you will be stuck with your choice regardless of your position as a displeased customer and taking the proper steps to state your unhappiness with the product. Do not order a door with Seedy Baroque glass it will be a mistake you will regret.

Purchased Douglas Fir double doors with ultra lock technology. The warranty says this is supposed to be like rain boots for the bottom of the doors. After approximately 4 weeks after doors were stained and sealed by professionals the bottom of both doors began to absorb water. They are completely water damaged... and Simpson rep, John Q. Out of Alabama is refusing to honor the warranty.

We used Simpson doors in our home. Our front door, specifically, is a custom 8’ tall Bungalow Series door with molding. We stained it walnut. It is absolutely beautiful and everyone who walks through it comments on it. Great company to work with!

Double exterior door with multiple horizontal windows.
Super regretful I purchased this door. I thought I was buying a quality door. It was very expensive. However, it does not look expensive, feel expensive or perform like it’s expensive. Even the carpenter who came out to fix it said it’s a cheap door. Response from the local rep is nonexistent.
I can not recommend Simpson doors.

We just finished building a custom house. And, honestly the doors make the house. We have a beautiful 10ft front door that is unbelievably beautiful that people always comment on. We selected Simpson for both interior and exterior and we couldn't be happier. Solid beautiful, well-made doors. The doors arrived on the job site on time and well protected. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY!

Doors are awesome, But communication and timely delivery are a Zero.
They have changed delivery time 3 times and have cost me a 10 million dollar job.
They do not care about helping you at all about the problem. Stay away

Shared the other day my dissatisfaction with the door from Simpson and still haven’t heard back. Got a custom door that was delivered with quality issues. The replacement was a mistake due to the company door was ordered through. Now won’t have a door till Feb? And the current door is splitting. Very disappointed in quality and service.

We ordered five interior doors from Simpson through a local hardware company. These were supposed to be ready for paint. However the finishing was very disappointing. There were cracks where the various wood pieces were not aligned properly, nail holes had not been filled, rough edges had not been sanded, and the glue had not been wiped off. In short, our contractor had to spend several hours filling up the holes and sanding down to a smooth finish before being able to paint the doors. Very disappointed, and would have expected better quality.

The french doors we got are quite disappointing. The metal strips are extremely visible and ugly, making the door look like part of an erector set instead of a high quality door. The caulk had not been cleaned off around the glass. Very disappointed in Simpson Door.

We purchased this solid fir door unit for just under $3,000 unfinished. After painting on side showed a slight bulge, but assumed it was just not sanded. Since it was at the bottom of the door it was not worth the cost to refinish the door. After a little more that a year the bottom rail were each side joins the stiles started to de-laminate or separate. Contacted the distributor who stated we might be eligible for a "discount" and could repurchase the door but Simpson would not stand behind the product. What is that saying "once shame on you, twice shame on me." Why would a customer do repeat business for a faulty product with a company who will not stand behind their product? Beware.
