We had Mid-Atlantic to install our original cedar fence in 1996 and then had them back out to replace boards and extend the fence in 2012 at our Severna Park home. Bruce Beauchamp, the owner, came out personally to answer our questions with both installs. In April, I needed a new fence installed in a new townhouse development located in Arnold. Bruce came out himself to measure and finalize the drawing for the H.O.A. When the H.O.A. required the fence sketch to be re-done on a new boundary survey, Bruce re-did the drawing with a smile and a great attitude. Finally, our home in Severna Park just settled in July. A prospective buyer had bent the latch of the gate during a showing of our home. I emailed Bruce and he sent his son out the next day to install a brand-new latch the day before settlement. “Work: Groff did both the design and build work for the following: total backyard landscape plan including multiple 3D renderings, ~450 sq ft hardscape / paver patio (Techobloc Blu style), ~36 linear ft (@ 2 ft high) paver seat wall, drainage system, lighting, pea gravel installation under deck, complete lawn/landscape "makeover" including hauling away all the old brush, roots, piles of logs, etc., leveling/grading the yard, installing 21 new trees and numerous other boxwoods and shrubs/plants, and seeding the lawn. Total job = ~$30K. Experience: Outstanding. We were extremely pleased with the work of Groff throughout the duration of the project- this is the first big ticket home improvement project we've undertaken with a contractor and we're so glad it was with Groff. I suspect there may have been cheaper ways to get this project done, but any premium we paid was worth it for knowing that we were working with pro's who will stand by their work. We had our first meeting with the Groff team (designer Sean Ryan) in late summer 2012- we walked around the backyard, talked about what we disliked about the existing backyard and thought we might want and potential options. At that point, we did not have a strong vision and were really looking for some vision and ideas from them. Sean did some measurements either on that visit or a follow-up, then pretty quickly delivered the first design along with 3D pictures from different views of what it would look like, including a video that sort of clipped together the different views. The 3D drawings were amazing- really the only way we could have grasped what the plan would really look like. The vision was fantastic, very close to what we wanted, but well outside what we wanted to spend. From there, we spent a number of months and ~5-6 iterations on the design and proposal (with no additional cost) to eventually arrive at what we would do. We pulled out a couple pieces of the proposal and contracted them out separately- the tree removal work and deck- which saved a lot of money, and Groff was very accommodating with that. By the time we finally committed to the job, they were booked for about a month, but we got the work scheduled for May. We met with owner Rob Groff, and knew right off that he was on top of things. He kept us updated on weather related schedule shifts, but work started right around our original scheduled date, maybe a little sooner. All of the work was/is top quality and looks magnificent! They had a team of 2-3 guys working for about 2 weeks (Groff employees, not subs) and they did great. At one point, Rob didn't like the amount of space between the seat wall and edge of patio, and he had the team spend about a day re-working that section. We were in regular contact with Rob about any questions or issues via email and/or his near-daily site visits, and he was always responsive. Even after the work was completed, we have exchanged numerous emails about questions we've had, he's come back to inspect how the trees and plants were doing, and it's clear that he wants to be sure that we love our new space- and we do! Would recommend to anyone without hesitation!!!”
