“I had 2 contractors come and do a quote on a 3 color lattice Stone paver pad measuring 16' x 20' to tie in our 2 opposing decks. One was a friend's recommendation, and then other was Creative Concepts (CCL) whose card I received by chance by a 3rd party. I had never met them before and had no recommendations so was really just using him for comparison. Here were the differences: Friends Recommendation - was fairly negative about our plans, didn't like the curved areas - tried to simplify our plans, change to simple, large 4' pavers in 2 colors - wanted us to change the rounded deck to make the pavers easier - gave us a few names of places to go to look at stones - wrote their quote on a piece of paper CCL - instantly got the look we were trying to go for, very supportive - made numerous great suggestions around color matching - made smart suggestions around putting in 2 runners around the outside - suggested digging a trench with gravel at the back for power washing into - provided key insight into preparations we needed on our decks - gave us 6 large design books with examples and pavers (left them with us) - provided a detailed sheet showing inventory costs and his profit While CCL's quote was a bit higher, it was complete and we felt far more confident there wouldn't be surprises. There wasn't, and the cost was exactly what he quoted. Other notes: - arrived on the date he said, completed on the date he said - stayed until the job was done - his team was happy, loved working with him. Really enjoyed their company - his confidence in execution was reassuring, never concerned about the most complicated parts - the job was extremely precise - his team, without asking, spread extra gravel and leveled it over a walkway area. We were ecstatic as it was much needed and looked so much better. Kevin, owner of CCL, is a very Type A, big picture, detail oriented and friendly person. He's not in it to get as much as he can out of you. He wants to make an honest days work and not only be proud of what he does, but have people be blown away at the amazing work that he does.
