UNPROFESSIONAL!!!! Do not even deserve the one star. We were doing a major $170k renovation and had an indoor/outdoor (exposed to screened porch) fireplace as our design. We worked with Chritina Richmond who was not friendly at all from the start. We shared our plans with her and informed her that we are looking for an indoor/outdoor fireplace . We were on a mission to find a fireplace so, we accepted her recommendations of getting a L1 two sided fireplace (confirmed via management via phone that the fireplace would work for our project). We picked up the fireplace and had our contractor install. And we definitely noticed a major flaw. The fireplace was completely exposed to the outdoors. Like a cracked opened window that was letting air come in all the time. This was definitely troubling to deal with during the middle of winter months when this fireplace was installed. Upon looking at more details online about the fireplace, we found out that the model L1 fireplace is not intended for indoor /outdoor. And, can only be used for indoor or outdoor and not both. We contacted Valor to get confirmation and we were informed that L1 is not an indoor/outdoor fireplace. So, we sent emails to Christina who kept insisting the fireplace does work for an indoor/outdoor space and that it can be used with an outdoor conversion kit.. When we provided proof that outdoor conversion kit does not allow indoor and outdoor functionality, she said in order for someone to come out and look it will cost us $333. And, she stated that any indoor /outdoor fireplace let's the air in. Which is definitely incorrect as confirmed by other resellers. Via emall, we asked to speak with the manager and owner to which she said she bccd her manager and that we cannot proceed until we send installation picture. We forwarded an email from Valor as a proof stating that the L1 fireplace cannot be used for indoor/outdoor. And we asked to be contacted via management. The next day, I followed up with a phone call, during which Christina was very rude and defensive. She stated she has forwarded my contact info to her manager and since she is not in the office she will get back to me. I asked her when she will be back in the office since we have our project schedule and want to resolve this as soon as possible and need to speak with someone since I cannot wait without knowing when we will be contacted back via management. She started to raise her voice and said that's all I can do and hung up on me. I called and left a voicemail with accounting since she was not sharing the manager and owners names. In my experience dealing with any company in the past, I cannot believe such unprofessional and incompetent company exists and are getting good reviews as chosen as one of the best. We will have to guy out our fireplace and replace with another and the labor cost associated with the whole issue could add up to thousands. We shall see how they resolve this and I will update the review then

Liz is very professional, efficient and knowledgable. She went out of her way to help us choose a new wood stove insert while they were right in the middle of moving to their new location. She also worked diligently with the manufacturer to resolve an issue/request we had. I'd say, if anyone has had trouble dealing with this company, then they may not have been patient, understanding and respectful. We all expect good customer service these days, and common courtesy works both ways. Kudos to Liz for her excellent customer service.

I have used Day or Night Home and Hearth on several client projects where I have specified gas fireplaces, each one different and custom suited to the client's needs, and am in the middle of another project with them right now. They have a great showroom with some of the best fireplace products on the market and wonderful customer service.

Excellent installs and friendly service. They extremely educated in the Hearth business and it shows in the work they have done. We love working with Day or Night and can't wait to see what other projects they have in store!

Professional service and quality work from the beginning to the end. Liz accessed our wants and needs to help pick the right fireplace for us and Jerry led the removal of the old fireplace and the installation of the new. Superior service - we liked the one stop shopping from design to installation. All plumbing and permits were part of the cost of the installation and their follow up yearly service has been great. Highly recommend that you give them a look when considering a gas fireplace installation.

Mr. Seaton, the owner of Day or Night, made a terrible, dangerous mistake in installing my pellet stove and associated flue liner. He put my family in jeopardy and cost me $4,000 to rectify. He refused my suggestion that he split the $4,000 cost and didn't have the decency even to admit his mistake and apologize. I ended up having to take him to small claims court, where I won the case on its merits. Determined to get out of taking any financial or other responsibilitwy, Mr. Seaton appealed the ruling and the case was dismissed in the circuit court ON A TECHNICALITY....that the statute of limitations had run out on the contract. Mr. Seaton's company had vented the pellet stove through the same space as the preexisting boiler and hot water heater were vented. What his company did effectively blocked the venting of the boiler and hot water heater. The mistake was discovered when a new boiler and hot water heater were installed five years later. The only way I could have found the problem earlier is if my family and I had suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning. Even the appeals court judge noted to Mr. Seaton that he had essentially lucked out and that he (the judge) wasn't very happy about having to dismiss the case. This man and his company made a horrible mistake that could easily have ended in tragedy, and he lacked the integrity to make it right or even to apologize. Contracting with him is a risky proposition.

Day or Night Hearth and Home refaced our "vintage" brick fireplace and put in a wood burning since for us. They were prompt, polite, and professional. It was definitely not a small job given the age of our home and some quirks in the design of our fireplace, but the finished product looks fantastic and has really changed the feel of the whole room. I'm very pleased with this company and have recommended them several times already to friends and family.
