“I commissioned Fines Gallery to fabricate a fine, marble fireplace mantel. I provided photos of what I was interested in - there were no single photo that captured what we wanted. The shelf was fashioned after a mantel I had seen in Dallas - parts of the works on the two legs were after a couple of mantels we had seen in New Orleans and the mantel from was a combination of a photo in a design book and photos of mantle fronts shown by Fines Gallery. I was concerned about the "depth" of the cut into the marble. I specified it to be similar to one of the shell's on one of their mantle fronts. They are located in Florida and I am in Texas. I never visited their gallery (but was tempted) and handled all design and transactions via email. After being satisfied with the final design and their shop drawings, we approved the work order and anxiously awaited as the carving was done in China. The mantel arrived professionally packed in a sturdy, custom wood container suitable to be moved by 4 people. A assembly sketch was provided and I did have some questions which were answered by phone on the day the mantel was assembled in our living room (which was a Saturday). We are extremely pleased with the quality of the workmanship and are very pleased with our mantle piece. I would highly recommend Fine's Gallery for the quality of their product, ease of working with us with a few iterations before arriving at the final design and support during delivery - albeit remotely.”
