Site sanded wood flooring is a solid and durable value as it is the only flooring product that can be refinished for a completely different look! Our highly skilled and experienced craftsmen use only the best quality sanding machines and dust collection equipment to assure a perfectly beautiful result every time. We are experts in the custom application of stains and finishes featuring Dura Seal oil based stains, Poloplaz oil based polyurethanes, and "hard wax oil" products like Rubio Monocoat (and others) for a timeless designer look. Hardwood Floor Repair and Restoration We offer complete restoration of historic wood floors. If your floors require small or large repairs, our craftsmen are experienced with "lacing in" reclaimed wood flooring from our own vast reserves allowing for seamless, "age-matched" repairs as well as room additions or complete remodeling projects. There is nothing better than seeing a floor that looks like it should be torn out due to previous damage be brought back to life using 100 year old reclaimed flooring for a perfect match. One of our crews recently restored a 5500 square foot 1920's maple office floor after lacing in over 400 square feet of our reclaimed 2 1/4" wide maple flooring. The floor looks seamless and is completely restored in its natural polyurethane finish thanks to our dedicated team of craftsmen and the use of reclaimed flooring in the numerous repair areas! The owners and our staff were thrilled with the results!!!

We used Abeln Floor Systems twice in the last few years. They are professional, courteous and hardworking. We refinish our hardwood floors in the Living Room and Dining Room in 2019. And then in 2021 Abeln Floor Systems install new wood throughout our Den and hallway and refinished the wood in the bedrooms. It all looks absolutely beautiful! Jim and his team of master craftsman are wonderful to work with and we would highly recommend them! Thank you Abeln Floor Systems!

My husband and I had a great experience working with Abeln to have hardwood installed in our living and dining rooms as well as having our wood stairs refinished. Jim Abeln and his crew were courteous, professional, friendly, and communicative through the entire process. They wore masks the entire time they were in our house which I really appreciated and kept us informed every step of the way. The crew showed up on time every day, worked hard to minimize any dust or other mess, and did great work. The project completed on time and on budget. Our floors and steps look great; I would definitely recommend Abeln!

Abeln Floor Systems finished our project yesterday and we are thrilled with the results. We took up the carpet upstairs on a whim and saw that the old floors was damaged in places, covered inexpertly with old brown stain, and spattered everywhere with paint and chewing gum. We called Jim and he told me that the old pine floors were completely salvageable. Indeed, they were--they are gorgeous. Jim used reclaimed old pine for patching several areas, sanded and put three coats of oil-based varnish on the floors, and the color is spectacular and just what I'd hoped for. I just never thought that those ugly floors could be so completely changed in a week. He installed kitchen-shoe molding as an addition to the existing molding which finished the project nicely. The crew was hardworking and they are perfectionists. They are coming back in a few weeks to do another area of the house. This is the kind of company you want working in your house.

In September 2016, I went through a home renovation. Jim Abeln and Abeln Floor Systems came highly recommended by a contractor friend I trust to handle the renovation of the floors for the entire first floor of my home. Jim first came by to discuss the project, take measurements and also give ideas and make recommendations on the different types of wood species that would work well in my space. About a week later, he personally met me at a flooring warehouse to look at samples, and he walked me through the entire process, letting me know what to expect from the project, including demolition, timing for wood delivery, installation, etc. His team showed up at the scheduled time each day of the project. They were trustworthy and meticulous in their work, and cleaned up each day they were in my home. Jim was on site to check on his team each day and stayed in consistent communication with me throughout the project. From the time they started, the project was finished within one week -- on time, on budget and beautifully performed. I've learned that Jim is not only a specialist when it comes to wood flooring, but he is thorough and conscientious to make sure the best materials for the dollar are being used. On a side note, I also learned that Jim is a caring person (he uses personal time and talents to tend to things that matter) and a great boss (I witnessed that his team genuinely enjoys working with and for him!). I know if I ever have an issue, I'll be able to call and Jim will follow through. In short, working with Jim was the smoothest and best part of my first floor renovation, and given the chance, I would hire Abeln Floor Systems again and again.

I had Jim Abeln with Abeln Floor Systems give me a bid on refinishing all of our oak floors. They were very worn and there was a pretty large dark brown pet stain in the living room about 4 or 5 feet long and 3 feet wide. The original oak floors (about 60 years old) include the living room, dining room, hall and two bedrooms including three closets. When the crew arrived they were very courteous, arrived on time and within five days I had all my wood floors carefully sanded and refinished with three coats of urethane! They managed to treat the dark stains and get them completely out (using a special technique) without replacing any wood! They left minimal dust behind and the entire floor looks brand new again. Mr. Abeln was very prompt in his communications during the job and totally clear on what needed to be done. The final bill was exactly as quoted with no hidden fees. Mr. Abeln is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about all aspects of wood floor services. I would highly recommend his company for any wood flooring needs you might have. We were going to be out of town for several day and they worked us in and completed the project before our return. They were very respectful of our property and left the job site clean and neat. We recently updated our kitchen and needed the floors refinished. After looking online for floor companies and looking at the BBB ratings, we decided on Abeln Floor Systems. I could not be happier with the job Jim and his crew did. I called Jim on Monday afternoon, and he came over the very same evening to talk to us. They were able to start the following Wednesday and were done Friday. The floor in the kitchen is oak, so I knew it would refinish well. The entry hall, which is a parquet that neither one of us was very fond of, was the big surprise. I never thought we would like parquet, but after Nick worked his magic, I can honestly say we are loving it. As a member of the St. Louis Symphony for over 30 years, attention to detail is critical. Abeln Floor Systems met the challenge, and then some. I would recommend them with no hesitation.

When Morris first called to set up an appointment for a bid, I could tell by his enthusiastic tone and the fact that they lived in University City, it would be a very fun exchange whether I was awarded the job or not! My hunch was accurate as I later discovered both he and his wife Ann are long-term musicians in the world renowned St. Louis Symphony Orchestra! Their home is a charming 1930’s brick Tudor style beauty.
