Ann Arbor Hardwoods

May 6, 2021 We recently hired Ann Arbor Hardwoods to refinish our Read Oak Hardwood Kitchen Floor. It had been several years since we had done any work on the floor. There were scratches from kitchen chairs, water stains from a leaking skylight, and overall wear and tear all over the floor. It was in bad shape. From the very beginning of the process, Ann Arbor Hardwoods was professional, experienced, reliable, and competent. Michael took his time to explain their process and lay a foundation for what to expect. The craftsmen were personable, courteous, and exceptionally clean. There was minimal dust and they used plastic to protect the rest of the house. Most of all, they were thorough with close attention to detail. They went above and beyond to make sure all our final concerns, which were few, were taken care of to our expectations. We enjoyed having them in our home. We would give them a 12 out of 10, with 10 being the highest degree of satisfaction with their work. We are considering putting hardwood flooring in the rest of our house and wouldn’t hesitate to have them do the work. Thanks to the entire team. Kathy and David Hunscher

Disappointing experience. Floors are actually ok. But they overpromise and under deliver. Don't be fooled by the owner. He over promises and has no control of his crew. His crew leave the house a mess. Also a few racist comments made. Disappointed in this company and generally felt icky about the whole experience. Feeling uneasy about leaving this review as I am concerned about retaliation, but want to spare others from dealing with them... will update here if they threaten or harass.

I would rate this company higher if I could (6 out of 5 stars :)). From start to finish, the level of professionalism is unmatched. The owner, Michael, came to personally do the measurements and quotes. Every detail was itemized and displayed in drawings given to us. Start of Project was on-time. The knowledge and capability of the foreman and crew were exceptional. Most days, they let us know where they were at in the project and what is upcoming. We ran into one hiccup but was simply a communication break-down some place. But, like a great professional, they handled the situation with flexibility and understanding and we were able to come to a compromise. Compared to other places, they gave us a cheaper project quote but gave us at least with the same level of care and quality as you would expect from the higher priced quotes if not better! Put it simply, if I have another flooring job, I will look to them first!

My wife and I had Ann Arbor Hardwoods refinish the floors in our home, and we simply cannot explain in words how amazing they are (but I'll try). We combined a full-house floor refinish (sand, stain, clear) with a kitchen remodel, and Michael was great about working with us on timing, which was important because after the floors were done, there was still some more work to do in the kitchen. He also did a good job sitting down with us and explaining the process, the materials they use (and why/how they differ from what many other hardwood refinishing companies use), and the timing (how long the project would take, when we can start moving furniture, when we can put down rugs, etc...). We also had some new hardwood installed in the kitchen to go with the rest of the hardwood in the house (from the 1950's). Michael was really helpful, and even took time out of his day to come measure the moisture levels in the new hardwood before they got installed (installed by our kitchen contractor). Both Michael and our kitchen contractor explained that due to different sourcing of lumber between 1955 and now, the new floor may not 100% match the old floors, even after a full refinish. We agreed that it would be OK, and Michael said they would do their best. Long story short, AAH did a PHENOMENAL job, and the floors do match very, very well! We cannot tell at all where the new floor was blended in to the old one. The rest of the AAH team were great, very nice and helpful, and we never had an issue with them at all. I would 100% recommend Ann Arbor Hardwoods to anyone looking to refinish their floors.
