My husband and I built a 4,000 sq. Ft. Home in 2021 and after tons of searching, decided on Carlisle wide plank flooring throughout. Our sales rep Gary and his team were so helpful throughout the decision and buying process which included numerous rounds of samples, discussions and shifting of delivery dates. We went with a solid hickory floor from their Earthen Collection with a brushed finished and couldn’t be happier. The floors are just so beautiful. We especially love the long lengths and the quality finish. Customer service and communication from all team members was proactive and responsive which really stands out these days.

Avoid at all costs. Dishonest from start to finish. The colors in the sample didn't match the floors we received, the floors didn't match the risers, and Carlisle said it's not their responsibility. Not only were the colors off, but the entire undertone of the wood didn't match. They said "the sample we saw was weathered from the sun" and suggested our floors would eventually turn that color, even though 90% of the floors will never see sunlight. Additionally, we ordered "heirloom" grade, described on their website as "hand selected by Carlisle craftsmen to create a custom wood floor with a truly luxurious and refined look. Planks are graded for less variation with smaller and fewer knots for a more formal look", and the floor came with so many knots it looks like a barn. They told us "it's natural wood". Finally, although our contractor ordered extra, and Carlisle claims they even shipped more than the contractor ordered, it was obvious we didn't receive everything we ordered because we just barely had enough to finish the job. Our designer, GC and installer all said they've never seen a flooring company screw something up so badly, and the designer and GC will be actively referring clients away from Carlisle. The installer can't make too much of a fuss as Carlisle refers business to him, but he can't believe what they left us with. Worst customer experience I've had.

Carlisle Flooring referred Royal Oaks Flooring from Maryland to install their very expensive floors, they said they would do an amazing job and we would be very happy with their work.
Nothing could be farther from the truth. We have huge gaps in the flooring, mismatched boards, unfinished flooring and squeaky flooring throughout the house.
Carlisle said it requires a professional installation team for their wideplank flooring one that they recommend.
As you can see from the few photos below we have a AWFUL project that Carlisle will not stand by.
Further the floors were unfinished because Roland the owner of Royal Oaks Flooring stated that Carlisle shorted us 100 sq feet of flooring, the project was 950 sq feet 1200 were ordered and we were short 100. Unsure how this happened Roland claims Carlisle shorted us 100+ square feet of flooring.
The project was stopped until new flooring could be delivered. Royal Oaks Flooring kept find excuses for not returning to finish the project. Royal Oaks Flooring was highly recommend by Carlisle and stated on numerous occasions how happy we would be with them.
Roland was on site for 1 hour max every other day the other foreman Otto was off site more then on, leaving this very expensive flooring to be installed by inexperienced labors.
We are looking into an liability insurance claim for negligent referral. As of today 2/12 Carlisle Flooring still supports Roland Arjukese and Royal Oaks Flooring

Comment from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors:
We’re very sorry that you’ve experienced these issues. At Carlisle, we pride ourselves on providing products of the highest standards and feel strongly about our customer satisfaction. As a manufacturer we stand behind the quality of our flooring which in this case has not been brought into question. While we regret that there remains installation concerns, these would need to be address directly with the installation company.

I used carlisle floors for an installation at my home in NYC. Within a month, the floors started cracking and splitting. After another month, approximately 1/3 of the floors had cracks. I contacted the company to complain and they told me that I probably used my heater too much, drying out the wood. I replied that I had been using a nest thermostat that records usage and I was running the heater less than 4 hours a day. Then they said that a humidifier was necessary. I replied back that actually I had been running a humidifier in my bedroom throughout the winter and the cracks were occurring there as well. They then came on an especially cold day in winter and took a reading that the relative humidity in a different room without humidifier was 25% that day, outside of the 30-50% recommended range and that they wouldn’t honor the warranty.

Comment from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors:
Carlisle has been providing Luxury Wood Flooring for over 50 years and we feel strongly about our customer satisfaction. We follow best practices regarding environmental conditions as provided by the National Wood Flooring Association guidelines. The guidelines provided are not unique to Carlisle but instead were developed by industry leaders and serve as the touchstone for the vast majority of manufacturers of engineered flooring. The conditions experienced in this case are not at all pervasive in Carlisle products, nor has a product defect ever been identified as the cause of this condition. We regret any issue with one of our floors but we cannot be held responsible for maintaining the proper environmental conditions as outlined by the industries governing body.

Our firm works with clients who expect the best in both workmanship and quality of product. The client we purchased Carlisle Wide Plank Floors was looking for something unique for an upscale barn home they were having Martin Bros. Contracting, Inc. build for them. While I was at the Chicago Merchandise Mart I spotted a sample of a Hickory floor that had a lot of character, by Carlisle Wide Plank Floors, that I knew would be a perfect fit for this project. We asked the client to view the sample at the Merchandise Mart, and they too, fell in love with the sample. When speaking to the account manager, Evan Kennel, we were very clear (as was the designer of the project), that we wanted the flooring to match the sample in EVERY detail. A quote was provided to us, but nowhere on the quote did it say the details did not match the sample. The quote said “Signature” on it but Evan did not explain what the Signature blend was until AFTER we received the order. In the link that Evan gave me it showed the Original blend and Heirloom blend. The Original blend was full of character and the Heirloom blend is clear. The Signature blend is a 50/50 mix. If this would have been explained to me up front there is no doubt that the Original blend is what the client would want. Unfortunately this was not communicated to us. When we received the order I could immediately tell there was going to be a problem. All the pieces I was unloading were clear and had very little character. I called Evan right away and expressed concern. It was during this conversation, that I was first told about a 50/50 blend. The sample we looked at in the showroom had 5 boards, 4 of them had character and 1 was fairly clear. What we received was the exact opposite. 1 in 5 boards had character to the level of the sample and 4 out of 5 were totally clear. At this point, because they had my signature on the proposal for the “Signature” blend, it was obvious they weren’t going to help me even though they had not explained what Signature was. All I knew was, that what I thought I ordered was going to match the sample in the showroom. I had to spend nearly $10k out of my own pocket to buy more material with character in it to make my client happy. The replacement material came and wasn’t much better. There still was not much character in the boards. The other issue was that flooring didn’t have the same depth and richness in the stain. When I complained about that as well, I was told that the sample in the showroom was hand stained and the flooring we received was machine finished. Isn’t that a detail we should have been told? It looked totally different. What really upset me is that they have a sample in their showroom that apparently they cannot produce. This put me in a very bad position with my customer. Be careful of the Carlisle bait and switch. If it is up to me, I will never use them again.

Our firm, Haver & Skolnick Architects, has come to rely on Carlisle for their vast array of wide board flooring. For 17 years we've enjoyed their wide eastern white pine flooring in our own office. For a current pool house project, they've been so accomodating, providing beautiful samples making it so easy for our clients to make a selection. We look forward to collaborating on many more projects.

We purchased Carlisle's heartwood pine for our dining room. It took us months to make the decision and order it. Throughout this drawn out process both the showroom in New York and the local salesman, Gary DeGloria were accommodating and attentive. Gary followed up periodically without pressuring us and that was particularly helpful. When ordering, the mill was precise with their questions and outreach. We have a problematic road and driveway. The mill worked with us arranging for a special truck style for delivery. They kept us posted each step of the way even following up after the delivery and installation. We love the product and the service. Almost wish I had more rooms to renovate so I could work with them again.!

Alot of our clients love the look of hardwood flooring, but want something unique and different. Carlisle Wide Plank Floors has been our go to for that uniqueness. They have the most beautiful hardwood flooring in extra wide planks. They deliver on time and are always just a phone call away with questions or to help with orders. We would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a good hardwood flooring distributor.

Quite frustrated with the quality of wood flooring supplied and how this company has not honored it's own warranty. When the newly installed floor (by the installer recommended by them) showed extreme damage, they put it down to "environmental conditions" which means they did not have to honor their warranty of replacing their high-end floors. Of course, this opinion and feelings are my own but it has resulted in unnecessary frustration, a huge amount of unnecessary cost and realizing that customer satisfaction means little to this company, despite paying them top-market prices.

Comment from Carlisle Wide Plank Floors:
Carlisle has been providing Luxury Wood Flooring for over 45 years and has tens of thousands of satisfied customers all over the world. It is an extremely rare occurrence when we have a situation where a customer is dissatisfied with either our product or our exceptional customer service. Carlisle makes it very clear to customers that certain environmental conditions need to be maintained in order for a natural product like wood to perform as expected. If environmental conditions are compromised they will have a negative effect on product performance as they did in this case. We regret any inconvenience this homeowner may have endured, but we cannot be held responsible for heating and cooling conditions outside of our specific recommendations or control.

We have worked with Carlisle Wide Plank on a number of high end residential projects. The quality of their product and their customer service have met our expectations at every turn. We like Carlisle Floors enough to have specified Carlisle Eastern White Pine for Daniel Frisch's (Architect and Owner of Daniel Frisch Architecture) own home in Northwestern Connecticut.
