We are Chestnut Woodworking & Antique Flooring Co. in West Cornwall, CT. We also specialize in antique lumber & beams for over 25 years. Come visit our new Showroom at Kent Barns, 5 Fulling Lane Kent CT Thur-Sat 10-5 Sun 11-4 or by appointment All of our products are recycled. We hand pick each and every board and beam we purchase unlike other companies who buy in bulk. Chestnut Woodworking offers superior antique flooring and beyond recycled from barns 100 to 200 years old. Our wood products are about quality – we don't mass-produce our lumber. We use only the best antique, reclaimed chestnut, oak, pumpkin pine, heart pine, hemlock and other antique woods. Wide board plank flooring is our specialty. We take great pride in our high standards of excellence. Each board has been individually hand-picked. Our boards are hand worked and hand crafted.

Bobby and his team were the most professional contractors on our home renovation project. Some other trades were not easy, but the flooring went down exactly as planned and slightly ahead of schedule. Well worth the money spent. Our beautiful oak floors are always the first thing guests to our home comment on.

I was looking for a hardwood floor installation in a new dwelling that we built above the garage, and saw an image of these stunningly beautiful floors on the website of Chestnut Woodworking. It turned out the wood was 100 year old or so oak wood and now they are actually installed in our home and make it a showpiece in our city of Hudson, New York. They are that stunningly beautiful. Just look at the image attached. The service was outstanding, the owner a pleasure to deal with, the installation superb, and the cost for what you got reasonable. And guess what? I am expanding our home to add a bedroom, and redoing a brick house down the street built in, 1870, and want more. I will settle for nothing less. Thank you Chestnut Woodworking for all that you do; I am looking forward now to doing business with you again. You are the absolute best.

I used Chestnut for my bedroom floors and they came out beautifully! We live in a 200+ year old converted barn and Bob was able to match our floors. I also had them install the floors - great decision - quality craftsmanship and attention to detail! Would recommend them to everyone!

As Architects we have used Chestnut Woodworking multiple times for unique and hard to find wood flooring. Bob is articulate when discussing the aesthetic qualities of the wood and he is also very knowledgable when it comes to the practical application of different species and finishes. He is a responsive communicator and I have relied on him for many important projects, both large and small.

I had Bob select and mill a mix of recycled and new oak into 1X6 T&G boards. The order was for 2000 board feet and was delivered in two 1000ft shipments so it would have time to acclimate to my northern CA location. I selected Chestnut after a detailed search of options and a visit to Chestnut. I couldn't be happier with my decision. My floors are gorgeous and the mix is not at all apparent. I went with a mix because the recycled wood is so expensive, but now I have great difficulty determining which installed boards are which. The lengths were as promised with only a few boards at 6' and the rest 8' or better. I don't recall any broken tongues (and thus waste) in either shipment.

I was so lucky to find Chestnut Woodworking and Bob Friedman when I was trying to find old barn wood to line the walls of a room in my new home. I went to his studio and was so impressed with his work and the wood he had there. What he found for me was exactly what I had been looking for. My own contractor did the installation, but Bob was a delight for him to work with as well. He's such a kind person and fine craftsman. Am including pictures of this beautiful wood!

Many places claim to sell "old wood", however there is a huge difference between "premium" old wood and "grade D old wood. Chestnut woodworking is the only company that understands that difference.... and consistently delivers. Their knowledge, experience, old world craftsmanship, eye for detail, and hand selection/inspection of every board creates a finished product that is stunning.
