We recently had our hardwood floors refinished by a different contractor and right after refinishing we saw the white halo or a picture frame type of effect on the perimeter of the rooms. My contractor initially told that it will blend in time which I was not convinced with. I called chicagohardwood as they are NWFA certified inspectors for their expert opinion on the matter. I talked to Derek and he asked me to email the pictures of the issue and told me that he will call me back once he looks at the pictures. Derek called me and explained that the situation he sees in the pictures will not blend in over time. The white halo we are seeing was due to how the pigmented sealer was applied and since the sealer was covered under two coats of finish there is no chance of it blending in. He also talked regarding this to his colleague and he had the same opinion. He gave me great advice how to talk with the contractor regarding this and how to make things work. He also advised me to find a NWFA certified Bona certified contractor as they are experts in the products we used and may have some suggestions. I truly appreciate the time Derek took to speak with me and his advice. He even told me to send the pictures once the issue was fixed as he is very interested in all things hardwood. I greatly appreciate Derek's time and advice in this matter and now I know who to call for any future hardwood needs.

However, even more important, Darek Zukowski gave me practical tips about fixing floors without complete removal. We recently remodeled our apartment and decided to match and blend colors of all hardwood floors together. The project manager Eric was very friendly but at the same time professional. The entire process took five days, and Chicagoland crew was very clean. I was concerned about dust but they kept it under control. The stain color came out great. We are very happy with how our floors turned out and would definitely hire Chicagoland Flooring again.

I was at once impressed by professional knowledge of their flooring inspector and I scheduled site consultation visit. (If your problem is really serious they can also provide certified flooring reports) It was money well spent as I got explanation of my flooring issues and recommended remediation solutions without complete flooring replacement.
