Magnus Anderson Hardwood Flooring in Boulder, Colorado has been locally owned and operated since January 2006. The company’s President and Master Craftsman, Bob Hagen, was born and raised in Boulder. Bob is a Fairview High School and University of Colorado graduate, a National Wood Flooring Association member, and a certified wood flooring craftsman from the Magnus Anderson Institute. Bob and his wife chose to raise their two children and start their wood flooring business in Boulder, the town they love and know so well. Bob’s wife Kathy was also born and raised in Boulder and graduated from Fairview and CU. She received her Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. Kathy’s father owned McDonald Carpet One in Boulder for over 25 years, so the flooring business has been part of her life for a long time.
Magnus Anderson’s hardwood flooring craftsmen have many years of experience in hardwood installation, repair, and refinishing. All our craftsmen are highly trained experts in their craft and stay up to date on all the latest technology and techniques in hardwood flooring.

Are you uneasy about starting a big wood-flooring project? Historically, wood floor refinishing was messy and inconvenient—just think dust, dust, and more dust! It doesn’t have to be that way though. The dust is collected in a trailer parked outside your home, providing you with beautiful hardwood floors without the mess. I highly recommend Magnus Anderson! Our experience with our project, which included “feathering in” new floors and refinishing the old floors, was completely positive. From our initial consultation to the final coat of finish, we found everyone one we dealt with to be courteous, knowledgeable, and hard working. Magnus Anderson was terrific to work with and did a fantastic job from start to finish. Any time I had questions Eric or Bob were quick to respond and helpful. When I had concerns about finding the right color they quickly got me an appointment in their showroom to go over the options. When I continued to have trouble deciding on a color they referred me to a great designer. When we needed to schedule and accommodate other remodeling work going on in our house, Magnus Anderson was very accommodating and easy to work with. When the floors were installed, the employees were hard working, highly skilled and courteous. The installation happened on time and finished early. Our experience with Magnus Anderson with everything from their customer service to the finished project, was top notch. Our floors look great! We will recommend them to everyone.

Magness Anderson installed beautiful hickory floors on our main level, stairway and second-floor landing, and recently repaired a small area damaged when our dishwasher leaked. In both cases, the quality of workmanship was top-notch. In addition, the owner was very clear about scheduling and the crews performed the work when he said they would. Everyone who came to our house was professional and pleasant. I highly recommend the company and would use them again without hesitation.

These guys are STELLAR! We replaced our master bedroom carpet with hardwood and needed to match our existing prefinished oak floor which was no longer available. Bob sent Eric to assess the situation and then they each set about staining sample boards to come to the most perfect match possible. Their "design eyes" are spot on. The color blends seamlessly with the hallway. Eric also suggested a redo on the transition piece from the bedroom to the bathroom to match the other areas of the house. This attention to detail made a huge difference in the outcome. Their work far exceeded my expectations. Every employee who came to our house was professional, kind, and generous with their time regarding my endless questions. Our floor is beautiful. I will recommend them to everyone...already have. THANK YOU Magnus Anderson...Definitely 5 stars.

Our floors are beautiful! Everyone involved was friendly and responsive. More of our floor needed to be replaced than predicted and they changed the work plan and now you cant tell where those spots were! We had some tiny issues (as you do with a big difficult job) that the company immediately responded to and rectified.

I am thrilled to recommend Magnus Anderson for hardwood floors. We loved working with Eric Demille and his team. They went above and beyond for my home and our family this past month. We just lost our home in the Boulder Marshall fire and this company stepped up and supported us in the most meaningful way. For our hardwood project with Magnus, we needed to add a large area of hardwood to existing hardwood and Eric took time to come sand and identify the wood before he pushed ahead. He was transparent with costs and provided a sound budget. He was willing to work with us on our timeframe and all the other contractors in the project. In all our years of remodeling, we have learned it is more about the type of person you hire to do work in your house than just cost or timing. In this case, I would say that Eric and Magnus Hardwood is by far the best choice because of not only who they are but also their attention to budget, quality promise and timing. We would 100% hire them again.

We have been extremely impressed with Magnus. They not only did a terrific job putting in our new oak floor, but they connected it to existing oak flooring in a seamless manner. Recently we had them repair a ding in the floor that we accidentally generated, and again they did a great job. We feel they do exceptional work and are very easy to work with. The Magnus Anderson does terrific flooring work. Their team and their equipment set them apart. The dust-free system is truly amazing. We had our floors site finished and it didn't require the cleaning of our house...not even our piano needed to be cleaned to remove dust. They are the best.

Magnus Anderson put in new hardwood floors in the bedrooms, hallways and staircases of our house. They did an excellent job and the house is transformed. Our house was built in 1960 so some of the original flooring was tricky to build on but the hardwood is completely even throughout. Solid work and finished within the time frame that they had predicted. The project manager was easy to reach at all times and always answered any questions we had throughout the project. Highly recommend.

We have had 2 major wood projects done by Magnus Anderson at our home - the entire downstairs, and then several years later, the entire upstairs (each about 1400 sqft). Both times we did wide plank hickory, Magnus Anderson did a wonderful job both times. They stuck to their schedule EXACTLY, stuck to their budget (actually subtracting pieces they didn't end up needing to use), and left the house each evening clean and tidy. Their crew was professional and true craftsman. Highly recommend, would use again!

Magnus Anderson just completed a big floor project in our new house. They replaced a lot of carpet and refinished the existing hardwood floors to match the new ones. We called Magnus Anderson after another company made several attempts at getting our hardwood floors properly refinished. I am so happy we found Magnus Anderson because they saved the day for us. They were able to correct the prior work and gave us a stunningly beautiful finished hardwood floor. We should have used them from the beginning. Eric figured out what was happening and made recommendations to fix the problem. He and Bob were on time or early every time, did what they said they would do, charged us a reasonable price, and gave us the floor we were hoping to get. Magnus Anderson did a fantastic job from start to finish. We love our floors! They literally saved our project as our previous contractor wasn't fairing well. After I stopped into their office and met Bob and Eric I knew they would be able to deliver. They stepped in to our project, bumped us up in their schedule, worked on the weekend, listened to our vision and delivered what we wanted! I had seen whitewash floors on Houzz and wanted to copy! We have just completed our second project with Magnus Anderson and they are fantastic! The first project was two years ago when we had two rooms of slate tile replaced with oak hardwood to match existing hardwood. The new is indistinguishable from the old and we did not have to refinish the old. You absolutely cannot tell where the old and new meet. The second project we just completed was (at a different property) replacing carpet with ash hardwood to match existing flooring that was in bad shape. The existing floor had not been well cared for, was scarred, and was filthy (dirt had worked its way between the boards). The crew also tied in new wood in two areas that were exposed by removing walls. After sanding, restaining, and finishing, you would never know that the floors had been in such terrible shape and once again, you cannot tell the new from the old. The crew was on time, on budget, and with a minimum of dust after all that sanding! We are extremely happy with how both projects turned out and would recommend Magnus Anderson very highly.

We hired Magnus Anderson Hardwood to install new and refinish existing walnut floors. We are extremely pleased with the outcome, appearance and the ease of working with the company. The floor is beautiful! We consider it a piece of art in the house. We were initially struck with the professionalism of each of the installers. All were skilled at all aspects of the installation. In addition, we were impressed with the thoroughness of the decisions about design, stain and finish. And to top off the great experience, when they said they were coming, they would come on time and ready. All around a great and easy experience. MA did a terrific job installing a new floor in our living room and refinishing the rest of our floors. They delivered the materials and did the work exactly when they said they would, and they did a great job. The floors all look beautiful, and the new floor perfectly matches the existing ones. They were very responsive and came back to fix a couple of minor flaws. Great combination of reasonable prices and excellent work.

We had nothing short of an excellent experience with Magnus Anderson. The floors are absolutely stunning with beautiful craftmanship, the work was timely, thorough and tidy, and the overall process from estimate to close was easy and smooth. Best of all, Eric and the crew were approachable, responsive and super helpful as this was our first time going through the process of a new hardwood floor install. I picked Magnus based off other reviews and recommendations and I would pass on the same recommendation without question.

We didn't have to look far before deciding to hire Magnus Anderson to purchase and install our hardwood floor. The store inventory, selection and sales service were excellent. George, our sales associate, was prompt and responsive throughout the process.
We were dealing with several special considerations such as a diagonal floor layout, uneven room transitions and board alignment across multiple rooms (living area, office and hallway). The crew led by Eric did a fantastic job bringing the plan to fruition. They solved problems proactively, had great suggestions and were very attentive to detail. The result is a magnificent, rustic hardwood floor that we absolutely love. Thanks to Eric and his team.

Simply the best around! From their lead estimator to the crew that came to the house, Magnus Anderson is by far superior than any other flooring company. We were trying to match an existing old wood type in the house and Eric was able to look at it and find the same mill and wood type. They feathered it in and you cant tell any difference from the old floor to the new floor. The dustless sanding they have is amazing. How nice not to have a layer of dust all over the house! Hats off to Bob, Kathy, Eric and crew!

I interviewed three different hardwood floor installing companies and decided to hire Magus Anderson. And I am glad I did! I am picky about hardwood floors and it took me quite a long time to decide what type of wood and finish I wanted and whether I wanted to put wood floor in the kitchen and hallway. I also changed my mind several times but every time Eric was patient and very helpful. He stopped by several times to do different measurements and answer my questions as I changed my remodeling plan, gave me at least seven different quotes and made at least five samples to help me find the floor I like. The whole installation process went smoothly. The installers were on time, professional and worked hard. Bob and his team were able to respond quickly and squeeze in an extra coat for me on short notice despite their very busy schedule in July. Now my floor is done, I am absolutely happy with it! I would highly recommend Magnus Anderson for its quality of work, customer focus and competitive price. Will definitely hire them again in my future projects.

I own a design/ build remodeling company in Boulder, CO and I have worked with Magnus Anderson Hardwood Floors for many years on multiple projects. They are always the first ones who I turn to for either new flooring projects or for refinishing. They are very professional during every step of the process, from the original design and estimating process, all the way through to the finished product. If there are any issues or less than perfect details they are very prompt on the followup resolution.
I use Magnus Anderson on my remodeling projects and never hesitate to recommend them to others when asked for a reliable hardwood floor finisher. One of the reasons homeowners like them so much is that they use a huge trailer mounted vacuum system that removes almost 100% of the dust from a home during the process.
Consummate professional and a pleasure to work with.

Hired Magnus Anderson to replace the carpet the great room with wood and to match our existing wood floor. They provided good options, were very professional, and were always on time. Asked them to outline the hearth around the fireplace but did not give them the exact dimensions; only stated I wanted it to be 3 tiles wide. While they were placing the old carpet in the basement, they spotted the fireplace tiles at the base of the stairs and took the initiative to used them to measure out the hearth so that we would have a precise measurement. I can also attest that their process is virtually dust free!

Lots of hardwood floor, and some which needed "fixing". For instance, damage from a kitchen flood. We got three bids, and those numbers were hard to compare because of my difficulty in really defining the project (even though I wrote that up rather clearly). Magnus Anderson seemed totally committed to doing a great job. And their bid was actually the lowest. Their promise of "dustless" was pretty true, although 2% can still be a lot. However the dust problem really no problem. The Magnus Anderson team was really good, and even with modern machines there was lots of hand sanding and scraping. We had some scheduling problems and they were totally flexible, meeting our needs. Our floors look great. They employ a stable of outstanding woodworkers, and that is their strength. Craftsman type of people.

Magnus Anderson is one of the most professional companies I have hired. They did very high quality work on my water-damaged hardwood floor and their craftsmanship shows throughout.
They went out of their way to provide the best customer service at every level, in giving estimates,
budgeting, working with insurance and spending hours helping us choose the right stain color. Their employees were very courteous, knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend them

Magnus Anderson did a great job from start to finish. They provided samples of wood plank that we could ponder at our own home, placed a few colors of stain on the plank we finally chose and was patient in letting us observe all different lighting conditions in our home before choosing. The installation and finishing was painless. Even though we had our entire first floor done, we were able to stay at home due to their timeliness, efficiency and dustless options. Left our home very clean at the end of each day.

I would highly recommend Magnus Anderson. They were professional, on time, true to budget, and patient in helping me choose the right stain for our floors. They were particularly artful in grooving in new flooring where we replaced the carpet. You can't even tell that we had half the floor as wood and half as carpet before. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't LOVE my new floors. It's just beautiful.

Absolute masters of wood floor installation/refinishing and professionals in every respect. They came highly recommended by several of our neighbors and they did not disappoint! My interior design company has worked with Magnus Anderson exclusively for many years. We trust them with all of our clients hardwood floors - installing new floors, re-finishing, and trouble shooting. All of our clients are always ecstatic about their work, and rave to us about their attention to detail, beautiful work, and professionalism. They go out of their way to assist us and our clients and are super nice as well. My company is only as good as our vendors so our reputation hinges on the companies that we select and refer as an interior design firm, therefore we would not recommend any other hardwood company - they are the best.

Our wood floors desperately needed to be refinished. Also, we decided it was finally time to replace the carpeting on the stairs with hardwood. Magnus Anderson did and excellent job with both. Bob was fantastic to work with and the end product exceeded our expectations. Our house was transformed and we couldn't be happier. Magnus Anderson installed hickory floors in our house 4 years ago. We still love the our floors. They were very attentive to the details and gave us a great price on replacing our particle board subfloor.

Our wooden floors were installed a few years back and I still love them, and think they changed the look of our kitchen and living room area. Magnus Anderson did a wonderful job for us, they were very skilled, professional, courteous and finished the job in a timely manner.
One year after the job was finished we did another small home project that required a minor repair of our wooden floor. Although this was really a minor repair job for them, Magnus Anderson came back and did the repair for us in a very timely manner. We could not be happier with the company!

We chose Magnus Anderson Hardwood to install our new floors because of their excellent reputation and we were not disappointed. Bob, Eric and their team did an excellent job from start to finish. We wanted to have our new floors feathered in to our old floors for a seamless look but we found we had some leveling issues. Magnus Anderson was able to help us solve the problem without costing us extra and the floors look great! They were there when they said they would be, were courteous and neat (the dust free sanding is great), and we are very pleased. I highly recommend them.

Magnus Anderson Hardwood Floors have installed, refinished, and added custom trim, stains and details to both of our Boulder, CO homes. Bob and his crew did a fantastic job at advising and working with our specific requests, and out-of-the-box creative solutions for matching and adding onto the existing hardware floors. The dustless finishing (sanding) process is truly a bonus and keeps the debris to a minimum, especially when it comes to working on partial areas in an already finished home. Both jobs were completed in a timely, but, when needed by our requests, flexible schedule. MA aims to please and are sure to make your floors and praises shine.

Magnus Anderson installed 600 square feet of hickory flooring in my house. They were flexible with the schedule, showed up when they said they would and had good suggestions for improving the look of details. You might find someone cheaper, but it won't be by much and they probably won't do the kind of quality work that Bob and his crew turn out.
