Mountain Craft Wide Plank

Our design + build company contracts with Mountain Craft, and has for two years. Mountain Craft sources local timber — red and white oak, hickory, cherry, maple and poplar — and mills, dries and finishes its lumber on site in Bruceton Mills. This allows for a fully custom product with a wide variety of custom options. Matt Thorn (owner) is super knowledgable and hard working. We especially love that his company’s eco footprint is quite low! For this review, we're highlighting our work together on the Bruceton Mills Hybrid Timber Frame project (also featured in Morgantown Magazine's write-up about Matt, too!) In this home, Matt’s company provided hardwood flooring: 4” & 5” wire brushed base/acid treated white oak planks with a satin lacquer finish. In the master bedroom, Mountain Craft Wide Plank's distressed shiplap maple makes a stunning accent wall. The planks were painted white, then spot sanded to create this rustic appearance. All wood was harvested within the greater Appalachian area. We highly recommend this local company for all your wood flooring, trim, stair treads, paneling or molding needs. Mountain Craft Wide Plank is the best! In love with my new floor!! Can’t say enough good things about Matt Thorne (owner)!! He is such a great guy to work with, knowledgeable, professional, and produces a quality product! He custom made an antiqued distressed red/white oak in 3”, 4”, 5”, and few 6” widths and random lengths. Also had circular saw marks. Well beyond a 5 star rating!!

The quality of the flooring is excellent. I needed the new flooring to match the existing flooring and the match perfect in color, thickness and width. I highly recommend Mountain Craft Wide Plank for any flooring need. The staff is friendly to work with and what ever I needed was completed in a timely manner. Also the price of the flooring was far less compared to the big box stores.

Ordered Hickory flooring to redo a bedroom. The product was beautiful and had the right mix of sizes to give it the perfect look. I did the installation myself and had no issues with the quality of the machining or finish. I will purchase more for other rooms. They offer a wide variety of species and finishes, all of them beautiful. The hard part is choosing one!

We ordered about 700 square feet of finished hickory flooring with “character “ in 3, 4, and 5 in widths. The product was ready in a reasonable time period. We replaced carpeting in our dining area , living room, a bedroom and hallway with this product. We were very pleased with the result and ordered more to finish our bedroom and another hallway. Matt Thorne was very knowledgeable about the wood, easy to work with and sold us a great product.

I met Matt Thorn (owner) and was given a warm welcome and a complete tour of his facilities. I was very impressed with his manufacturing facility and his employees are very professional and hard working. He was very helpful in answering any questions I had about his wood products. He provides several lines of flooring, trim, stair parts, I purchased 900 square feet of natural hickory in random widths. I have no problem referring Matt’s products to anyone.
