State of the Art Wood Floors began in 1999 as a 2nd generation flooring company and rapidly grew to become one of Manhattan and Eastern Long Island's premiere installation and finishing firms. We opened our Manhattan Design Showroom in 2005 and continue to expand our running lines and custom capabilities every day. State of the Art Flooring Gallery has helped us with floor repairs and restoration several times and have provided excellent service every time, going above and beyond to make sure we were happy with the results. They respond promptly to questions and other communications and their staff is very courteous, friendly and tidy, taking exceptional care with protection and cleanup. As an interior designer, I know how essential craftsmanship, quality, and communication are in any project. During the gut renovation of my own home, I wanted to make sure I partnered with the right wood flooring company. We chose SOTA Floors, and they exceeded our expectations in every way. Eric, the owner, was incredibly patient and collaborative. He spent countless hours with me to ensure we achieved the perfect color and finish for our floors. The team also hand-cut a stunning mosaic chevron pattern for our powder room, which has received endless compliments from everyone who visits. Even our general contractor, who had never worked with SOTA before, was so impressed by their professionalism and results that he now plans to use them for all of his future projects. The crew was hardworking, respectful of our home, and coordinated seamlessly with the other subcontractors on site. I cannot recommend SOTA Floors highly enough and truly look forward to working with them again on future projects.

I cannot say enough good things about SOTA and Eric. The quality of their work was exceptional. They put in two new floors in our Manhattan apartment to match other floors in the apartment and stained and refinished the other floors. The floors look incredible! On top of the fantastic job done by SOTA floors they were great to work with. Eric was responsive to our every request, going above and beyond what was asked of him, and always responding quickly to all calls. We were working under a very short timeline and, as promised, Eric met every deadline. I would without queston use SOTA floors again and would enthusiastically recommend SOTA floors for your next flooring project.

Eric and his team at SOTA have been fantastic. They installed new engineered rift and quartered white oak flooring over radiant heating (Warm Board) and maneuvered around tiled surfaces as well as steel railings. Then, they re-finished and stained existing red oak flooring to match the new white oak. No matter the challenge, Eric had a solution. And, he was flexible, communicative and very friendly throughout. He and his guys are great -- we recommend them highly.

Eric and his team came into our historic house and did a beautiful job with our wonderful--but very challenging--heart of pine floors. He was super-attentive to getting the stain color just right, doing multiple test patches with different finishes. He worked to match colors on the random planks that were a different wood type, sanded carefully to take off a little of the floor as possible, and re-did the stairs when the work from another contractor caused problems. He was also very fair about his charges for the extra work caused by problems that were not of his making. He's also a good communicator, who stayed in touch with me as the work progressed. I would hire him again, and have already recommended him to friends.

Stop your flooring research here. Eric saved my project. He is an expert, one of a kind in this business and he genuinely cares about finding the ideal solution for his clients. I will preface this review by mentioning that we did not have the pleasure of having Eric install or finish our floors, however, he helped immeasurably by both supplying our wood and consulting with me, my husband and our own floor installer/finisher (chosen through our contractor) to find the ideal floor finish for our new home. We are in the midst of new construction in a home out on the North Shore of Long Island. We had a major setback with our floor installation - twice(!) between the months Dec '16 - Mar '17 - due to a bad crop of solid American White Oak (6" floorboards) installed under proper conditions. My husband and I thought our home was cursed with all the bad luck we were having with flooring. We were fortunate to get introduced to Eric through a work colleague. Eric ran through options with us and gave us an immediate solution to what was a very tricky situation at the time. Within a week he was able to supply and deliver to our home 8.5" European oak floorboards. Installed they looked magnificent - even unfinished! This takes me to the next step - floor finish. I was stuck on a white wash/light/beachy look. However the floor finisher that my contractor was using were not able to recommend anything to help guide us. We were stuck again! I immediately called Eric back - as I'd come to learn that floor finishing is another speciality/passion of his. He talked with me on the phone through various options over the course of a month. Note, he was not being paid to do so. He put a lot of time in to help brainstorm floor finishes with me and ensure we would love the look. He even took time out to visit our home and show us various samples which we loved. I could not believe the kindness, selfless and genuine concern he showed toward my family and my home. We emphatically recommend Eric and SOTA floors without hesitation.

Overall, I had a terrific experience working with State of the Art Wood Floors. I found them at the Architectural Digest Show in Manhattan last year and reached out to them when it was time for me to purchase my wood floors. Although I was considered a very small order for them (just 500 square feet of wood), the owner, Eric, still came by my studio apartment to measure and helped me decide on the plank width, color, etc. Eric also made himself available for questions (via text!) that popped up right before installation and in the weeks that followed. The stellar customer service and access I had to having my questions answered made it a great experience for me.
