True Craftsmanship. From the moment I talked to Robert on the phone, I was extremely impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. Prior to our phone call I sent him a few pictures of what I would like built, a media cabinet where vinyl records can be stored. We discussed different options, and he sent me a few pictures of a project he had recently completed. I placed an order with Robert, he gave me a timeline that was bang on. Robert sent me updated pictures and videos as the cabinet was being built, this was a part my wife and I really enjoyed. Robert delivered and set the cabinet up and thoroughly explained how to care for the cabinet. He was in no rush to leave and answered all our questions. The craftsmanship is second to none, if you are looking for a generational piece of furniture, I highly recommend Robert.

Robert had created a beautiful cherry platform bed for me years ago, so when I was renovating my townhouse I thought of him again to do some custom work ... to my surprise, he informed me he now also undertook kitchen projects. Robert is a thoughtful designer, whose craftsmanship, professionalism, attention to the smallest details (which end up being the most important ones!), and ability to incorporate multiple ideas into a solid solution set him well apart from other contractors I have worked with. He communicates extremely well, meets (and even exceeds) deadlines. I could not be happier with the end result - my kitchen is the envy of all my friends. Absolutely beautiful! Akroyd Furniture created a solid walnut platform bed complete with drawers for me. It is by far the most well-made piece of furniture I have ever owned, or seen for that matter. The craftsmanship is flawless, the wood is wonderful and the service was second-to-none. I highly recommend their skill-set and expertise. This bed is so solid, absolutely quiet and structurally sound, that it's hard to believe I have not been sleeping on something like this my whole life - I was missing out until now. You will not be disappointed.

I couldn't be happier with the king-sized platform bed (with drawers) I ordered from Akroyd Furniture. It is downright gorgeous and extremely functional. The soft-close lower drawers on both sides of the bed provide considerable storage. The floating side tables, also equipped with soft-close drawers, occupy less space than traditional nightstands and contribute to the bed's clean and contemporary look. The overall appearance of this bed exudes quality and luxury. The grain of the wood (I chose the cherry wood) is beautiful and the bed could not be sturdier. It is truly a work of art, and Robert Akroyd is a master craftsman. He was a pleasure to work with and he was incredibly accommodating. For example, he had no problem altering the dimensions of the floating side tables to suit my needs. He also kept me apprised every step of the way. Finally, the shipment was accompanied by straight-forward assembly instructions which included photographs. This was a great experience culminating in an exceptional piece of furniture.

We ordered a king sized platform bed with side drawers from Akroyd Furniture this summer. We initially had struggled to find a bed that met our expectations of quality and creativity and stumbled upon Akroyd with a lucky google search. As soon as we saw the photographs we knew we had found exactly what we had been searching for. Robert was easy to contact to arrange an appointment. In our initial meeting he showed us both examples of final products and detailed breakdown of the creation process. He was kind and patient and clearly devoted to making beautiful, well made items. We received delivery on our bed last month. Set up time was prompt (even despite a surprise snow) and courteous. Robert again, is clearly very committed to quality and wanted to make sure we were clear on cleaning and care before moving on. We will definitely being turning to Akroyd for our wood furniture creations in the future and strongly recommend them.

I purchased a coffee table (maple) and storage bed (walnut) from Akroyd Furniture who are located in the beautiful Distillery District in Toronto's East end. When I went into their shop to inquire about their products they were very helpful and spent time with me explaining the detail of each piece. Their work is what you'd expect from a master carpenter. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. I found that many other retail stores in Toronto selling storage beds just didn't have the same quality, attention to detail and love for the product. Robert, who is the the owner, is a real class act and true professional. I could tell right away that he loved his job and it shows in his work. If you chose Akroyd Furniture you will not be disappointed. It's was so refreshing to have dealt with a custom small shop instead of dealing with the large box stores on King Street in Toronto.
