Would give negative stars if I could. Please do not purchase from this company unless you like giving away money. I have been requesting a refund for an order placed in September, with no updates on status, since November. I have not heard a word from them despite multiple attempts to contact the company. Their phone line always says “Busy”. No one answers my emails or customer service chats.

I had a previous order a few years ago that arrived within 2 weeks as ordered, so that was great. But, my order this year took months and months, and then I received curtains without the blackout lining that I ordered. After weeks of emails, customer service has provided no resolution. They say: we “absolutely remake every order that has any kind of defect due to an error on our end” So, Barn and Willow, why can’t you commit to remaking my curtains? I guess I will have to try to get the money back through my credit card company.

Horrible customer service, not sure if this company is fulfilling orders although they'll take orders.
I ordered roman shades from Barn and Willow on March 21, 2021. After they charged my credit card, I heard nothing back from them for a week and was curious as I expected shipment updates (they advertise shipping within 10 days). So I reached out to them on March 29, at which time the response was they had severe delays, but expected my order to ship within 1-2 weeks. After 2 more weeks, all attempts to contact the company were met with no response (email, phone calls, online chat, etc.).
So, I had to contact my credit card company and initiate a dispute, and they started to process by contacting Barn and Willow. In an amazing coincidence, right after the dispute process started I finally received an email on May 6, supposedly from Trisha Roy (the founder) who asked if I'd like a refund and I said YES I would.
But, after 2 months since placing my order still no refund, still no roman shades. Just vague promises of a refund that never materialize.

Awful customer service. Pray when you order your shades that you do not have an issue because they are not eager to resolve anything or help. I ordered a single blackout Roman shade that was $500. At first glance it looks nice, but where the plastic loops are attached to the back blackout panel that allows the shade to close, the panel was punctured in areas where large stitches are, allowing spots of light to come through at those points. I emailed two days after receiving the shade and I got a quick response apologizing for the defect and offering a new replacement. I did not hear anything back for 9 days, and at that point they then turned around and said there was nothing wrong with the shade (according to the factory, what??). So for $500 you can expect flaws in the products and apparently this is their standard. I am still waiting to hear back from “management” about a replacement as this seems completely unacceptable. At this point I’ve disputed the charge with my credit card company because I do not trust that they will actually get back to me or make things right. Also their phone number never connects you to a live person and they will not call you back. AVOID!!

I had custom Roman shades made by Barn & Willow. They are the relaxed style. They look absolutely horrific and it looks like I have a dirty baby diaper hanging in my windows. These look absolutely nothing like the photos on the website. I did use a designer on my project and the company was her source. After submitting pictures to the company the rep did admit that they have had several issues with this style and are supposed to be discontinuing the style. They did offer to remake them in a different style but I personally did not want a different style. I wanted the style that I purchased and do not feel like I should be forced to try something different. These defects are their issue, not my issue. I requested a refund since they cannot provide what I purchased. The best they offered me in the form of a refund is a 30% restocking fee and I have to pay to send back the defective shades. I have about $4000 worth of defective shades. I don’t mind sending the defective shades back but a 30% restocking fee on something they cannot resell and they sent to me defective is not a fair deal.

I always get overwhelmed when trying to buy things for my home. I'm indecisive and I get stressed out just trying to pick a color for a throw pillow. I love that everything about Barn & Willow is focused on simplicity. And thank god for their measurement tool. I was so overwhelmed trying to figure out my shade dimensions until i used the quiz and it took me through all the steps of measuring my windows. Felt like they were virtually holding my hand the whole way. 12/10.

Ordered almost $4,000 in merchandise and had major issues with incomplete products, wrong sizes, etc. I called every number I could find with them for TWO MONTHS. Nobody ever answered or called back. I think the company has gone under.

Over the past year, I have purchased curtains and hardware for my kitchen and dining room from Barn & Willow. I have had a fantastic experience from beginning to end. I have had several phone calls with their designers to confirm my measurements and fabric/style choices. Each designer has been incredibly helpful and has given me great advice. Both the curtains and hardware are top quality fabrics and construction. I couldn't be happier. I wanted to write this review for anyone considering buying from Barn & Willow - I have never had any issues with phone calls or emails being returned quickly and their customer service has been top-notch.

Comment from Barn & Willow:
Thank you so much Mark. It was great working with you!!
Customer service is not good. They are painfully slow at responding. Also, I wanted confirmation on dimensions for outside mounting a roman shade to a door with window panes. The designer actually suggested I mount the shade on the WALL ABOVE THE DOOR. That was unbelievably TERRIBLE advice because mounting a door shade to the wall above the door means I can't ever have the shade covering the window if I want to open and close the door. I ordered a shade with the string cord but received a very chunky continuous loop metal cord. Then when I reach out to them about the error, they then tell me that the shortest string cord is for windows 5 ft. tall. I find it hard to believe that a window treatment company can't provide a string cord that would be appropriately sized. When they send me a new string cord, it is the one that is too long for my window, plus it's this BULKY rope cord that is also continuous loop, not at all like what they picture on their website when you're selecting options. It was the ugliest, rope (not string) I've seen and not at all how a string cord for roman shades should look. Lastly, the shade didn't come with instructions on how to assemble the mounting hardware. I couldn't even find it on their website. I had to Google it to find a YouTube video. Based on my order, it seems like they want to appear to be a company based out of California, but it seems like Trisha is the only person in the US (since it takes so long for a response) and all she does is take orders and give bad advice. The actual production is done in India. The fabric was nice and the sewing was good, but I felt duped and didn't actually get what I was expecting to get.

Comment from Barn & Willow:
Hi Smith, We're so sorry you are disappointed with the shades you received. I would like to state here that we hire very well trained designers who have spent 5+ years at the minimum dealing with window coverings and have worked with other window coverings companies. Our designers are based out of California, NY and few other locations who are constantly staying in touch with customers who need design recommendations for their window coverings. For outside mount roman shades yes it can absolutely be mounted above the window or door on the wall. That's something a lot of people would do. You can also mount it on the door frame (the wooden part of the door above the glass). Now whether you mount your shades on the door or wall does to depend on whether you have enough of a frame on the door or is it all glass with a very thin frame or some door or metal doors in which case the shade cannot be mounted on metal. It also depends on the kind of look you want and functionality - some people prefer the look when shades are mounted on the wall but if they think they would open and close the door quite often mounting on the wall may restrict the motion of the door a bit (unless you mount the shade quite above the door. So there are a few different factors to consider and we tend to walk through some of these when making any recommendations. Ultimately it is up to our customer to select the style they like.
Regarding the cord option, yes we do provide 3-4 different lengths of cord for the shades and it is best practice to have your cord be slightly shorter than the shade length and that's what we suggested to you. Thanks a lot for suggesting you liked our fabrics and stitch. We do take utmost care in selecting our fabric mills and source some of the finest linens and cottons from Europe and India.

We ordered Roman blinds expecting them to be as they were pictured (cordless). They came with big, ugly cords. Barn & Willow refuses to correct.

Comment from Barn & Willow:
Hi, I believe we corresponded with you over email where you said you mistakenly thought the shades were motorized. We immediately replied saying we do not offer any motorized shades yet and that while ordering you had even selected a specific cord style which is what you received with your order. However we did immediately suggest we can offer you a 20% discount on your new order to help with the situation. We cannot take back pieces which are wrongly ordered since everything is custom made and we truly would appreciate if certain business policies can be respected. Thanks.
Stay away!!!!!! There is ZERO customer service. It is impossible to get anyone on the phone/email/messenger. Total nightmare

I was overwhelmed just thinking about all the window treatment options and I didn't know where to start. Trisha came to the rescue! She asked me a couple of questions about what we were looking for and gave me the pros and cons of each type of window covering. She really helped me think through the functionality and aesthetics for each room. I'm excited to place my order and see the end result!
