About Us

I design and build furniture, drawing my main influence from Japanese sashimono and carpentry as well as furniture of the Chinese Ming dynasty. My focus is on cabinetry and tables, as well as small boxes and framing. In constructing my furniture, I use primarily hand tools and traditional methods of work. I feel that hand tools connect the maker to the work while allowing freedom of form, encouraging the maker to constantly push to reveal new facets of the material and continuously hone personal ability and skill. A hallmark of my furniture is the use of interlocking joinery to minimize reliance upon glue and mechanical fasteners. The methods of joinery are both traditionally-used in furniture and adapted from timber framing.
