Keefrider Custom Furniture is a boutique woodworking shop that specializes in handcrafted custom-designed heirloom-quality furniture, hardwood cabinetry and other fine woodcraft. Keefrider was founded in 2001 on one simple notion: custom furniture must be born from top quality craftsmanship and be as unique as its owner. We make all kinds of furniture, and have a particular soft spot for building beautifully designed hardwood beds and dining tables. We do all our own finishing and have expertise in a broad range of techniques, from natural finishes that showcase the grain and color of our carefully chosen hardwoods, to special effects finishes such as distressing, crackling or stain blending. We also have a wide range of more off-the beaten path expertise after working with folks in the arts and film industry in LA for so long - everything from renovating a burned out bus into the lobby for an advertising firm, to building set pieces for Jane's Addiction's latest tour - we're always up for a new challenge. You can learn more about us and see some of our recent work at www.keefridersb.com.

We bridge the gap between a design firm and a furniture store. Like a design firm, we value the creative process, make house calls, collaborate with clients, and coordinate many of the little details you never thought existed. Like a furniture store, you can also come in and select anything from our floor, order it in the fabric you want, and call it a day. In 1996, we opened our first furniture store with a business partner in Venice Beach, calling it Philip Paul Designs. I had a degree from UCLA but I didn’t know a thing about design or furniture. I was an “actor” which meant I actually was a waiter. Soon I earned a degree in business from the “University of Life”, learned a thing or two about furniture and design and bought out the partner. Where did we get the goofy name? From the original store in Venice Beach, we changed our name to "Welcome Home Interiors" (which we still use for large interior design and commercial projects). We liked the idea of helping our clients create welcoming environments in their homes. Still, when we described what we do people would say “Oh the Sofa Guy! My neighbor just bought a sectional from you guys.” - or something similar. Paul got that so often he finally gave in. We figured it’s simple, memorable, and a little goofy; but then again so is he. We embraced the moniker and today we are The Sofa Guy Inc. We moved our business to Thousand Oaks in 2003. We started by keeping things simple: no showroom, no employees - just us: Paul and his catalogues and fabric swatches working from home and going on lots of house calls. During the last 10 years we have moved the business out of the house and into the Westlake Design Center, and in 2013 we made our BIG move to Thousand Oaks Boulevard. We hope to be able to add more stores in the future and appreciate the fact that the Conejo Valley has kept us in business when the economy has been so tough these last few years. We are proud to be a local, family owned business. We live and raise our family here; and participate in church, school and other community based activities throughout the Conejo Valley. We appreciate your business and hope you will value knowing when you do business with us you are supporting a local family, who in turn supports other local family owned businesses.

Brett Jordan spent a few formidable years in England learning a bit more than the queen's English, followed by two more years at UCSD in LA Jolla Ca, finally transferring to UofA in Tucson Az where he began the true Artist's journey. Initially creating structural forms in clay/ceramics, it soon became apparent that his medium would have to change in order to fulfill his visions... Functional interior designs... Furniture and accessories. He spent half a dozen years working as an assistant art director for a furniture showroom in Los Angeles California... giving him valuable insight into the market, history and influences necessary to refine his own palate. Today, he works from a secluded, unassuming tin structure nestled amongst the Oil fields of Ventura California. BWilliam's furniture designs are constructed from solid wood pieces selected from resources that are dedicated to sustainable forestry practices...also using reclaimed woods, recycled pulp papers for "wicker" applications and vinyl constructed from recycled plastics that look and feel of supple leathers. Most of his work is dedicated to one of a kind, unique, custom pieces for discerning clientele...but a limited production line of work is available via his on-line store, focusing primarily on beds, pivoting and sliding doors as well as some very functional table bases… From Exquisite, timeless construction techniques which honor the material’s integrity.

Our selection from the finest manufacturers spans a full two-story showroom, and a second showroom dedicated to casual furnishings, entertainment centers, pool tables and game rooms. Want to change a delivery or discuss a problem?– we will do our best to give you a personal response. When Ilon Specht was a creative director in NYC she authored many ad campaigns, the most famous of which was “Because I’m Worth it” for L’Oreal. She mitigated the stress of her high powered business life by collecting antiques - constantly. “If it was beautiful, and I had a place for it, I bought it. And, if I didn’t have a place for it, I bought it.” Over the years, she used her finds to decorate a pair of houses in Bridgehampton, a 10 room apartment in the famed Dakota and, most recently, in the two houses she renovated in Ojai, California. But, as much as she did, she couldn’t decorate as fast as she could hunt and gather. So, in 2000, Hacienda was born: dedicated to the diversity of beauty, run by Martin Sierra, and filled by Ilon.
