    “In July of 2024 I approached Jonathan with a custom, pantry cabinet, project. I needed a large, tall,, all wood cabinet with doors inside and outside and lots of shelves. I did the best I could to describe the pantry and Jonathan took care of everything else. I was kept up to date on it's development routinely and it was completed within a mutually agreeable period of time. Delivery was not easy; up hill and with steps, but the young men that carried it into my house did an excellent job. When they removed the outer protection, WOW was I pleased. The cabinet is beautiful and just what I needed. I returned to Under The Roof to look for a bookcase but instead found an incredibly comfortable reclining Bassett chair. The chair was good to go, but I needed more time to make room for it. Leaving the chair at the store for an additional week + was acceptable. This chair was going into a small room with an unusual entrance at the end of a narrow hallway. The delivery staff actually measured the hall and the entry to the room before attempting to put the chair in the room. Once again, Jonathan was a pleasure to work with. Thank you all for your wonderful service.”

    “We entrusted Albemarle Woodworks with slabs of wood from a beloved weeping cherry tree that had to be cut down. We cured the wood for several years and then began looking for artisans who could give the wood new life as furniture for our home. Eric and Shawn surpassed our expectations -- the table and coat racks for our foyer are beautiful. We love the clean and elegant lines combined with solid construction, the care they took to bring out the gorgeous grain, and the incredible attention to detail. They came out to the house, took measurements, helped us determine how the wood could be used, and listened to us throughout the process, all the way down to the type of coat hooks we preferred (bronze with a hint of copper). We plan on another commission soon to have furniture made for our children.”

    “They custom built an entryway bench, two bookshelves and a dresser from reclaimed wood. The heart pine was the most special park of the entryway bench. While it tools a while after we ordered it, it was more than worth the wait!”

    “We worked with Caroline and other members of the Artful Lodger team. Initially, Caroline came over to our home, asked about what we wanted to do, and took measurements and photo's. Caroline is an excellent listener and she has a keen sense of design. She is very talented creative designer and very patient. She will offer many choices and is never in a rush for a response. She does not try to shortchange any part of the process. She truly wants the client to choose what they like and have the final decision at the time they choose. We absolutely love everything we purchased. It is exactly what we wanted. We would never have been able to do it ourself. Caroline goes the extra mile by being on hand when the area rugs and furniture is actually delivered to work with us on the actual placement. She is a perfectionist and wants everything to be excellent and for the client to be pleased and happy with their purchase. We highly recommend Caroline and the Artful Lodger.”
