We met Phil at the Philadelphia Art Show and loved the intricacy and craftsmanship of his work. The piece we wanted had already been reserved, so we decided to commission our own. Phil was exceptionally easy to work and collaborate with. He designed to our specifications exactly what we had envisioned. The piece is exquisite, and has become a talking point at our dinners. We highly recommend Phil for his creative workmanship and execution.

Recently, a wooden serving board made by Phil was stained with fresh strawberries. Phil agreed to correct the problem by refinishing the board at no cost. It's not very often that a remedy to a problem yields a result that is as good or better as before the problem occurred. Specifically, the serving board was re-sanded and then re-coated with a food safe oil. The results were as good if not better than the condition of the original serving board. Try refinishing a plastic board!!

I've ordered several serving boards, as gifts, from Phil Gautreau Wood Design and I think each has been just beautiful. I chose boards with a somewhat subtle gradation of color that I think looks rather elegant and different from anything else that I've seen. One recipient told me that she felt she had to up per game as a hostess, since nothing she served on the board drew as much acclaim as the board itself. Over the years I've had much pleasure in interacting with Phil himself. He's a talented, interesting and delightful man and has been so accommodating. I'm so happy to know him.

What is not to like with this artisan's work? Not only is his work beautifully executed, it is a joy to see and feel in the hand. I bought a small maple burl wood bowl at the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show to give as a gift. The recipient was very happy to receive this. I think that the price was fair and affordable.. Phil fulfilled all that I look for in craft shows: beauty of the object, affordability, size of the object and overall fine craftsmanship. I expect to buy from him again at other shows.

I love my cutting board!! it is as functional as it is beautiful. I would buy more if I had a bigger kitchen .
