Vann and his team were great to work with! I needed a custom bench to fit an elevated table and his end result was amazing. Giving him a basic idea, he made a few modifications to ensure safety for our toddler. Vann also had us back to his shop to show us samples to ensure we liked the custom finish. I was shopping for a new platform bed and nightstands for a long time. I specifically wanted one that was unique and could be cherished for many years. After searching for sometime, I decided that a custom bed made of reclaimed wood was the perfect solution. I am in the solar energy business, so sustainability is huge part of my core values, and utilizing materials, such as reclaimed wood, that were once a part of something offered a history and story that would forever be engrained in my custom project. Now that I decided on what I wanted there was a new criteria, "keeping it local." So the search begins.... I stumbled upon the Houzz website and Salt Wood Company. Upon my first initial phone call with Vann, he was extremely excited about the project, but his specialty was not beds. So I went to see him at his shop (a few miles from my house) and noticed the level of detail and care he and his team used in their artisanal work. At this point I was sold and knew he would be the one to make my new bed. The process begins.... We started to kick around some ideas from a couple pictures I provided and some specifics that I wanted incorporated, like the "steampunk" look with cast iron wheels. Vann came back to me with a very reasonable quote and timeline for the California King platform bed and two nightstands. Being an artisan, Vann requested some latitude on the design as part of his artistic process. I was more than happy to comply and I'm happy that I did. Vann and his team created and delivered magnificent pieces of furniture on time and within the allotted budget. Furthermore, he delivered and assembled the bed to my house and left behind that piece of history and story that I wanted in my new furniture. Throughout the whole process Vann provided outstanding communication and proved to be extremely skilled and talented at his profession. Salt Wood Co did an amazing job making our dinning table, bench and a barn door. The finishing and overall quality of the pieces are incredible. Very professional and time-efficient. It is clear that Vann knows and loves what he does.

Vann Cochran of Salt Wood Company created a wooden box made from reclaimed oak from a Virginia barn. This box is a Christmas gift for my daughter and will be used to hold quilting supplies. It is exactly what I had hoped it would be! The size is perfect, the finish is smooth so nothing will catch on it, the color is a rich medium brown, and it has an aged, rustic look. It measures approximately 12 1/2 " high, 14" wide, and 12" deep. It has a 2 1/2 " deep drawer at the bottom, a 2 1/2 " deep lift out tray at the top, a 4" deep storage compartment inside, and a cover that fits over the top. All in all, this is a highly functional, attractive, well made (entirely by hand) oak box. I am thrilled with the results; Vann did a professional job. I enthusiastically recommend Salt Wood company to you!

Salt Wood Company was able to create a kitchen table and bench for me using 300 year old reclaimed wood and an old family Singer Sewing machine that has been my family for five generations. Salt Wood made a gorgeous flower box for our silent auction fundraiser. We had it on display for a week and just received too many compliments. The construction was solid and the finish of the wood was really cool and rustic. We really liked their engraved logo too! The sales and marketing girl was extremely helpful, very knowledgeable about the woods and finishes and was so easy and fun to work with. I would love to have them make me a table or porch swing as I have no doubt their work is incredible!! Great local company!
