From Isabel’s Daughter: Isabel Gamino, is the founder of Gamino Décor, she always had a passion for quality and an eye for detail. Truly a perfectionist. As a young adult she developed a love for quality furniture and antiques, opening her own antique shop. As with most antique dealers, the merchandise that was acquired, needed work, but the workmanship of hired refinishers and upholsterers did not meet Isabel’s meticulous standards. Isabel decided the only way to achieve the quality she required was to do the work herself. At this time, she had a very rebellious daughter that most definitely “pushed her buttons”. What transpired? Every time her daughter would act out, Isabel would lock herself in her garage and focus her attention on her projects. Whether sanding down a 100 year old outdoor bench with detailed engravings to stain the wood or shopping for fabric to transform the outdated ottoman into a beautiful piece of art that would transform a room to have feng shui- she felt like she accomplished something. Yes, Isabel’s daughter was a real hand full… through the years her daughter would catch Isabel talking very gently to the furniture as she was working on it. Her daughter was a bit jealous of the furniture’s treatment. After a while Isabel became so well known that both mother and daughter felt it was the opportunity to show off Isabel’s craftmanship, Thus, during the recession, Gamino Décor was born. Starting in 2008 Isabel completed work out of a small warehouse in Burbank, CA near Down Town Burbank. In 2010 Gamino Décor’s Showroom off of Magnolia Park was opened. Through the years Isabel has become somewhat of a magician. Many customers come to her from all over, with ideas of what they want and 95% of the time she is able to make their ideas come into reality. As her daughter, I followed in my mother’s footsteps. I fell in love with fabrics and color matching which led me into the design world. My Sister, Ruby was also born in 2010 a week prior to opening Gamino Décor. She has now assumed the lead role of manager, making sure that everything is on schedule reminding everyone at Gamino Décor of upcoming pick up, deliveries, and shipments. We have welcomed exceptional people into the Gamino Décor family that have talents beyond basic custom upholstery.
