"We've tried any number of companies for landscaping and routine property maintenance over the decades and have settled on Overcoming Obstacles as our permanent choice for everything that needs doing at our place. We have a long wish-list that we'll be discussing with Grady soon.
OOL is thorough and reliable. Their prices are better than many we've been quoted for similar work. Sorry to relate, we've often paid other individuals and companies much more for work that was shoddy at best, a disaster at worst.
We're strictly organic here, pesticide- and herbicide-free; Grady and his colleagues respect that, which in turn earns our respect. I hate having to argue with landscapers who want to just drench us in Roundup and call it a day."

"Serena Fossi is a true artist ! She has an amazing ability to see a space, imagine what it could look like, and planning and implementing the transformation. She has totally redone my front and backyards - from removing trees, to adding stone paths and borders, and lighting, to designing a fence, and most importantly planting beautiful plants, both perennial and annual, that work together in time and space. She is a pleasure to work with, has terrific recommendations for workmen, and delivers even better than she promises. I am so happy every time I come home to see my front yard, and have spent wonderful happy hours in my back yard. She will do as much or as little as you want - allowing me to do my own mowing and pruning when I can, having her wonderful workers do it for me when I can't. "The Potomac Garden Center and their designer Emily, updated my front yard and transformed my backyard just in time for the Kentlands House and Garden Show. The plantings were well researched and carefully placed to assure they would do well in the lighting and soil conditions. I loved working with Emily! She took careful notes about what would go where but also considered how we used the space and how much work we would be willing to put into our garden on a daily basis. David was generous with providing the homes on the tour with just about anything they need to accessorize (flowers, plants, and shrubs).

"I'm the Condo Board president of a small building in Washington, DC. I found Mid Atlantic Mailbox, Inc. through an internet search, b/c we were looking to replace our aging mailboxes. I stopped my search once I started dealing with this company, b/c their customer representative was so knowledgeable (as I'm not) and helpful, sending a couple options very quickly, and providing a proposal very soon after I sent them the measurements.
Between the time I signed the proposal and had our mgt co send half the cost as a deposit and the time of installation we switched management companies. The new mgt co was expecting to have to coordinate with the Post Office, but Mid Atlantic handled all that seamlessly for the day of installation. We're extremely pleased with our new mailboxes. We did have to hire a contractor to frame them. Mid Atlantic would've provided a contractor to handle that portion, but we had already planned to have some significant work done elsewhere in the building.
The only sour part of our experience was when Mid Atlantic tried to get us to cover the cost of a parking ticket the installer received. They said they do a significant amount of business in DC, and given how smoothly things went with the USPS, I believe them. Anyone with any knowledge of the Dupont Circle neighborhood is well aware that parking is a challenge. We had never promised a parking space, b/c in fact we do not have any to offer. Their installer's story differed entirely from what our management company representative told me, and it was just unfortunate that Mid Atlantic sought to be compensated in the first place.
It was a learning experience for us, however, and in the future we will be sure not schedule something like this on a "street cleaning day" when you can't park at all on one side of the street."

"MD Landscape Supply did an amazing job for me. I had a serious water problem in my basement and flagstone pavers in poor shape. They trenched and buried drain pipes around the yard perimeter, emptying water into woods. They repaired old masonry, completed a significant deck repair, replaced a sidewalk, front porch and 2 patios. They re-seeded the entire yard and the new grass looks great. CJ Busch, the company President, is dedicated entirely to customer support and satisfaction."
