“We hired North Bay Construction (NBC) for a full condominium remodel that began in November 2023 and was completed in May 2024. Our general contractor was John Fox, whom we were introduced to through our interior designer, Carly Rose of Rose Design. The scope included a complete renovation of two bathrooms and the kitchen, along with additional touch-ups throughout our high-rise condo in San Francisco. Our primary points of contact were John Fox and Judit Sanchez Fernandez. John oversaw the project as the lead contractor, while Judit supported communication and coordination alongside our designer’s project management. We chose NBC because of their transparency and detailed cost breakdowns. That level of clarity was important to us, as both my husband and I value organization and financial visibility. What NBC did particularly well: * They are experienced working in dense urban environments like San Francisco, where logistics—parking, access, and limited workspace—can be challenging, especially in high-rise buildings. * They maintained a high standard of cleanliness throughout the project. This mattered a great deal to us, as our building has very well-kept common areas. Their team kept the worksite inside our unit orderly and handled all material transport with care, without impacting shared spaces. * They have strong relationships with skilled and reliable tradespeople, which was reflected in the quality of the work and coordination across the project. * They stand behind their work. “We have had Cano Eixo Construction renovate all 3 of our bathrooms. We are very happy with the results! Cano Eixo Construction worked with the Bath Studio (San Ramon) for all of them. The Bath Studio worked with us on the bathroom design- we selected all the materials necessary through them. The materials were delivered a couple of days before construction began. We also ordered stained glass windows for each bathroom from a third party. Of course you run into unanticipated problems as you tear apart 25+ year old bathrooms! We were impressed with how Aleixo (Cano’s owner) managed to make aesthetically appealing solutions on the spot. For example, a ceiling with some rot (due to a past skylight leak) was recreated as a vaulted ceiling. An awkward set of sliding doors was replaced with a very attractive barn door design. He also added in touches we hadn’t thought about, like instant hot water and lighting under the vanities. The installation of our stained glass windows was seamless. Cano Eixo Construction has very skilled workers who paid attention to detail. The tile looks great and the painting looks first class. There were some additional charges, but nothing excessive. We felt the cost was fair. The time to completion ran over by about 30%, but the scope had been changed so we were not surprised. We recommend Cano Eixo Construction, they do quality work!”
