Blok Builders, Inc.
Battle Creek, MI General Contractors

“We had Blok Builders finish our basement. Bruce was able to incorporate our planning ideas, relocate utilities, maximize the space available, and provide a quality finished product that we are proud of! We were even on a shortened timeline due to entertaining needs. They finished a week early, and were even under budget!!! Based on this experience, other quality custom builds we had seen from them, and many satisfied client testimonials, we also used them for a full custom build in 2016”
Falcon Custom Homes
Battle Creek, MI General Contractors
Mar 6, 2013
“We hired Falcon Custom Homes to build a home for us in 2010. There was a great coordination of efforts between Falcon, the bank, the architect, and the interior designer which made the process much easier for us. All of the sub contractors were polite and courteous. We would certainly recommend Falcon to any potential client and would use them again in the future.”
Scott Christopher Homes
Battle Creek, MI General Contractors

“Scott Christopher, or more specifically his renovation company Surpass, did a spectacular job completely remodeling our 1946 Cape Cod lake house. Previously it had very limited views of the lake but today, with the addition of a new kitchen space and elimination of numerous walls, the lake is visible from virtually every room. While the house has clearly been modernized his cabinet makers and workmen preserved the traditional feel of our old house. In addition, we signed on with a specific finish date in mind, December 24, giving them barely 4 months to complete. Although it frequently required weekend construction, which we lived through, they were done on the 20th.”

“Jon with Paradigm has been great to work with. He went out of his way several times for me and my client making sure all our questions were answered, and giving us peace of mind about moving forward with the transaction. Jon was professional, honest, polite, and extremely patient and I would hire him without a doubt the next time I need a job well done. Keep up the good work Jon and Paradigm! Luke Bouman”

“We had all of our windows replaced and a new garage built. Derek replaced all of our windows and wrapped the outside of the windows, they look wonderful. Amber Valley also built a new garage for us, it was a good experience. If we had any questions or concerns it was addressed right away. After each day he followed up with us to see if we had any questions. Great job.”
Dyksen and Sons, Inc
Battle Creek, MI General Contractors
Mar 24, 2019
“From the beginning of the project we were impressed with the amount of time Bruce spent planning, estimating, and measuring for all the work that needed to be done before the project was even started. We had a large project that included damage from flooding and continued renovation of our home. During the renovation process Bruce and his staff kept to their committed schedule consistently. They managed their subcontractors (which is minimal) on a daily basis. All subcontractors were very polite and organized while treating our family and property with the utmost respect. Over the course of the project not only was the end result a wonderful job but we also developed friendships with Glenn, Bruce and staff.”
VanderMeulen Builders

“I hired VanderMeulen Builders to build a home for our family on Lake Michigan. They were recommended by our architect and I am very happy that we followed up on that referral. They were professional in every aspect. They helped us work through a budget, they provided firm and detailed estimates, and they met all deadlines. The craftsmanship and overall work quality was exceptional. I would hire them again and, in fact, I have.”
Savick Construction

“Savick Construction has worked on multiple projects for me over the last decade. During the largest project, I feel Savick was taking care of business as I expected and making sure the subcontractors stayed on schedule as well as got them to do their highest quality work. The construction of my new building in 2016 was completed closely within the time that was agreed upon, even with the changes I had made during the process. Keeping communications open was the key. Savick was willing to discuss anything that I found to be important, while giving me his input with his expertise even if I decided to go a different route. He is a custom builder with the customers wants and needs the focus. If the message is clear Savick will accomplish it.”

“We had several decking and stairs projects that needed to be redone or repaired. We live on a very difficult hilly site with limited parking, neighbors that do not like noise, and my husband and I are very particular when it comes to quality craftsmanship. We had been searching for years for a company to either repair or rebuild our stairs and decking that we use to get to the lake from our house. The stairs are situated on a steep slope and change directions as they are intermingled with landings and decks and landscaping. We wanted a company that would assist us in choosing the best materials and had the expertise to discuss design possibilities. The company also needed to comply with local ordinances as well as strict neighborhood guidelines regarding road load limits, work hours, noise limits, parking, etc. In addition, we wanted a company that would not damage other structures or landscaping on our property or others. After interviewing several companies, it was clear that the owner of Gatz Construction was knowledgeable with fresh ideas relating to both material selection and design, and had similar ideas to ours regarding how to proceed in an orderly fashion that would limit neighborhood complaints, damage to our property, etc. My husband and I both had careers in the home improvement industry and had a considerable amount of knowledge so therefore we needed a company that would meet or exceed our expectations. Because we are "hands on" type clients, knowledgeable and expert craftsmanship were essential. In addition, the location of the project was difficult, to say the least, as it was located on the side of a steep hill. We had decided for the old stairs and decks to be disassembled (starting at the bottom with one section at a time) and then reassembled on the same footprint, for the most part, using new material when needed. Unfortunately, most of the 4x4 posts (approx.80), all of the steps, decking, railing, risers, toe kicks and some of the stringers had to be replaced. The substructure seemed to be useable, but since the posts had rotted, each section had to be re- squared which was problematic since the rotten posts caused most of the landings and flights of stairs to move. We also asked that everything that was disassembled be removed from our property at the end of each day. Since they started at the bottom, the crew needed to carry up the old lumber by walking up approximately 100 steps! Of course, the number of steps decreased as the crew made their way to the top of the hill. However, this was very labor intensive. The Gatz crew did a good job of keeping the work site tidy, There were no loud radios, no cigarette butts, no long lunches, and best of all, they showed up on time. Gatz's best quality lies in the area of communication. They returned phone calls and emails in a timely manner; crews were on site on time; quotes, invoices, etc. were professionally submitted; samples and prototypes were supplied when needed; and in addition to weekly meetings, management was readily available upon request to solve problems and issues in order to help eliminate interruptions and downtime. We underestimated the complexity/scope of the project which unfortunately effected the time it took to complete. Lumber availability (used some exotic hardwood), weather conditions, uniqueness of site, our critical eyes, etc. all contributed to an extremely lengthy project. My husband and I are totally satisfied with the beach stair project. We have since used Gatz for other projects. They are professional, dependable, trustworthy, and a pleasure to work with. We can provide photos to Houzz if requested.”
