“Mike did a home addition for me; converted a garage into living space and then added a new, attached garage. The work began September 2022 and finished March 2023. So almost 2 years out from completion, I’m very happy with Cardillo Construction overall. Quality of work and materials is good and the prices were competitive (he was neither the lowest or highest bid I received.) Mike was very flexible on the work plan; we modified the contract a few times to add items upon my request (ie, additional attic storage, change a door configuration, add a light fixture, etc.) The final cost was about 5-10% higher than the initial quote. Overage explanations seemed reasonable and were typically related to additional materials or labor being higher than expected (ie, additional demo because of hidden concrete below a floor, or raising the garage floor a few inches higher than was designed & quoted to avoid flooding from to water run-off from the street). The work did take longer than initially expected; 3 month project plan took 7 months, but it was 95% complete and usable after probably 5-6 months. The delays in the first 5 months were due to waiting on materials to arrive (doors and window supply chains were still a little slow at this time) or coordination with subcontractors. The last month or so was finishing details, and since it was useable and 95% done, I didn’t feel a lot of urgency at that point. Mike is great to work with - I grew to trust his opinion and he was willing to listen and understand my concern before giving his advice. I would use him again for this or other projects.
