“We used Chi Renovation & Design for our basement remodel (after a pretty bad flood), and am thrilled with how things came out. After we worked through the design aspects, it was time to get started on the build. When it comes down to it, the most important piece from my experience is working with a general contractor that cares, takes ownership of the project, and is fast to rectify issues that inevitably arise when renovating. I can safely say that Ron, who was the GC that managed our project embodied all of those qualities. I never had to prove to Ron why we may have needed something changed, fixed, or reworked; not only was he often already aware of it, he always took responsibility and got it done. He was always fair. Beyond that ownership, the subcontractors that work with Chi Reno & Design were excellent, especially the drywall and painter folks. Honestly, by far the best paint work that has been done on our house. To that end, the value of the work done was well worth the (reasonable) price. I am thrilled with how it came out, and my kids love playing down there everyday!”

“Chester and the crew at Above & Beyond Construction are great! They completed our home addition and we look forward to working with them again on any future construction or home projects. Project - home addition above existing garage (bedroom and full bath) Budget - the stated budget was the final cost. Any additional costs associated with the project were well communicated (before the work was done) so we were not shocked or surprised. Craftsmanship/Work - the crews arrived on time and ready to work. The showed great respect to our house and neighbors. If they saw something that they were concerned about, it was addressed and discussed. The go out of their way to do it right, the first time. Chester was also able to find subcontractors that performed quality work that were budget friendly and timely (for example, we didn't have to wait days/weeks for an electrician/plumber to show up). We felt like we were their top priority even though they had other projects they were working on. Permits - Chester and crew handled the permits and communicated the project with our architect. His crew would also meet with the City for the permit inspections, which were approved on the first inspection because he and his crew do things the right way. They were very knowledgeable about what the City wants/prefers so inspection/permit process was easy. Communication - Chester was our main contact but we also felt comfortable talking with any crew members about our concerns. Chester was always available and just a phone call away to help resolve any problem or also answer any questions we might have about the process and next steps as the addition was being completed. It was great working with Chester and his team at Above & Beyond Construction and we would recommend him and his team.”

“I write this review to unconditionally recommend Marek Jajcay and A&M General Contracting for Chicago-area construction projects. If you’re a reader who’s short on time but considering a construction project, allow me to be brief and clear: you cannot go wrong by trusting your project to A&M. The company will do outstanding work for you. In April 2021, my spouse and I began searching for a contractor for a major outdoor construction project. We sought bids from a host of contractors on Houzz. A&M General Contracting was the winning bidder, not only because Marek was responsive and transparent, but also because he took the time to understand our vision and budget. (Frankly, several other contractors on Houzz were either unresponsive or unwilling to even consider our project given their oddly inflated sense of their own work and—in some cases—ridiculous pricing.) In contrast, Marek took the time to meet and talk with us, manage our expectations, and align on a plan that ultimately left us completely comfortable and confident that the work could be done to our satisfaction. The project included: tear-down and rebuild of our garage, full tear out of existing driveway, build of green space to replace existing driveway, construction of new 24x24 garage with full rooftop deck, tear-down of existing full-yard fence, construction of new fence, front walkway and porch replacement with stamped concrete, demolition of back brick patio and replacement with new stamped concrete patio, preparation of back yard area for new Heartland Shed installation, new second floor window replacements (six windows), James Hardie siding of new garage and house, rebuild of back sun porch, replacement of sun porch door, and installation of new Domadeco aluminum front door. In short, this was a huge project—a project we added onto during the process and which A&M General Contracting fully accommodated our changing needs/requests. I would also note that we live in Skokie, Illinois, and the permitting process in the Village of Skokie is, to put it mildly, both complicated and difficult. Marek expertly managed this entire process. It is no exaggeration to say we could not have done this without him. Marek’s employees and sub-contractors were careful, helpful, thoughtful, and respectful of our time and our property. Marek himself was frequently (weekly, if not daily as needed) on site to ensure that work was done properly and on time. Marek is a careful listener; he also has a keen sense of design. Often, we weren’t exactly sure what we wanted or what was possible, but at every turn Marek made suggestions that fit our design aesthetic and budget. In several cases he made suggestions that we had never considered, and that I know will in several instance save us time, money, and headaches down the line.
