Josh and his team are a absolute dream to work with. From start to finish you can expect a level of professionalism that is hard to find. He finishes on time (or early) and communicates every step of the way. His work is impeccable and all of his subcontractors exceeded my expectations. I have hired them repeatedly and have no intention of stopping. Josh and I went over a list of things that my previous contractor had convinced me were necessary, and he declared most of them were not and gave me cheaper alternatives to fixing issues. As he worked, he was able to call out things that would need fixed and give me timelines on what might happen and when so I could prioritize when to do which projects. (Don't worry previous, horrible contractor is out of business.) I am disabled and wanted my bathroom to be safe, but not to look institutional. Josh had me work on the aesthetics with Alissa, who I now call the color whisperer, and she helped me achieve something far better than my imagination could ever dream. BUT THEN... once the bathroom was framed out, Josh, Brandon, the funniest plumber on the planet, and I met in the space and they literally had me sit on the shower bench and marked the reach of my tiny t-rex arms so that every grab bar and the hand held shower head would be in easy reach and give me the SAFEST bathroom in existence. Additional special shout outs to Clint, Josh's right hand man, and Kirby, the cabinet maker who is responsible for the vanity and my beautiful built in closet.

From start to finish Josh's personal attention made all the difference in the world. He carefully considered the project scope and provided a very reasonable price. During the construction he was communicative and punctual regarding progress. He was considerate of our pets and working situation. He and his partner Clint are knowledgeable, courteous, diligent and very professional. We definitely made the right choice. The house looks great! When it was time to renovate our master bath, we only considered one contractor. Josh and his team at 8 Inch Nails did a major kitchen/family room remodel for us in 2016 and did a wonderful job then and they did not disappoint this time. The project was a complete gut and replacement of the existing bathroom, including windows and skylight, all existing lighting and plumbing, a relocated soaking tub, and a huge walk-in shower. His designer did a great job helping us with layout and finishes and everything turned out just the way we invisioned. Josh gave reasonable expectations on schedule and budget and followed through. He’s a great communicator, always responding to e-mails, text messages, and phone calls. His subs were always easy to work with and showed up when scheduled. Our project turned out great!! We'll definitely use him on future projects.

8 Inch Nails worked on our 1905 Craftsman house replacing windows and some extensive word work including barge rafters and finials after a century of wear and tear. This kind of work requires craftsmanship and extensive knowledge of construction techniques. They also were able to get their roofer fix a leaking torch down roof on short notice. They preformed excellent work on some difficult jobs and addressed any other issues they found along the way like fixing siding. I highly recommend them for any kind of job which needs a highly knowledgeable and skilled carpenter, which can be difficult to find. They are well versed in all aspects of home construction and very trustworthy.

I could write several paragraphs about what a great experience we had, but I’ll try to be concise. We added a bathroom upstairs where there was no plumbing, and removed a closet and load bearing wall downstairs to open it up. The team was incredibly communicative. The quality of their work was better than I could have imagined, and when we hit complex problems they found creative solutions. If you have a vision for something and don’t even know where to start, this is the crew you want. I never felt like I was being ghosted, and the final results are incredible! Also I’ve taken a luxurious bath multiple times per week since the job got done. They nailed it.

This contractor was did professional works for my kitchen remodel and hallway floor refinished. For example, they carefully selected and introduced materials, and led me to the factory to see the materials. I got the countertop I like very much. They also listened to my ideas and made changes and did a great job. I am satisfied for their work.

I have had Josh work for me on several occasions over the last few years. He clearly states solutions to the task needed to fix things in his proposals and bids. He is direct in addressing issues that need to be fixed and communicates the way he will fix them. He sets a deadline to finish the contracted work and meets the deadline. I have hired three other contractors this past year. None of them demonstrated the professional approach to solving the construction issues which Josh does. In fact, he had to straighten out the work one of them did and redo it to finish it correctly. He completed two different jobs for me this summer.

Josh and Clint were both professional and easy to work with. Fortunately, we didn't have to live through this major remodel, but they kept the house secure and clean. We would use them again.

8 Inch Nails created my dream kitchen. What was an outdated, broken and non-functional space is now a modern, updated, and functional place I love cooking in. They also transformed a basement storage space into a beautiful bathroom. They were great at keeping up with their timetable and communication with me. The electricians, plumbers and all those associated with 8 Inch Nails were those that I would trust to have in my house, around my kids... they became like family and I am so sad that their work to my house is over, it went by too fast. I miss them! Though they are no longer working at my house, their exceptional craftsmenship will stay in my 1930s house forever! I highly recommend them to all of my friends.

8 Inch Nails (Josh) replaced the siding on the front of my house that had some rot around the Windows. The estimate came in middle of the road, my feeling is cheapest isn’t always the best, sometimes it just cheapest. I was willing to spend a little more for a contractor that took his time and paid attention to the details. This was a larger job for me, 14k plus. I picked Josh because of the overall good feeling I had about him as a person and his quality of work. I met with a few contractors that I didn’t get a good feeling from, proposal lacked details, meetings felt rushed, etc. I got the complete opposite from Josh. The proposal was detailed, spent time explaining the work, what materials he was using and why. He even put up with me adding or changing my mind on a few things and didn’t nickel and dime me over small changes. I’m a very picky person and I can’t say enough about the high quality of workmanship that I saw from Josh and his partner. Everything was caulked, primed, flashing was perfect to limit possibility of future water issues. The siding job was perfect and the neighbors think the house should be in a fancier neighborhood. Stop meeting with contractors and just hire Josh, you won’t be disappointed. I’m using Josh for anything I need done from here on out.

The quality of the work, timeliness and communication we had with Josh was great. We had a small closet remodel and a fireplace surround designed and built for our 1930's cottage that reflected the wood detail of the existing structure. Josh was patient and helpful with the woodwork samples and fine details until we could decide exactly what would work best. I really appreciated this aspect of our work together as I am very picky!
