Bayer Builders

I very highly recommend John Bayer for any home renovations. Winter 2018, every pipe in our Chicago condo froze and burst, and unfortunately, the condo had to be completely gutted and renovated. I live out-of-state, and John coordinated every step of the process, from the demolition to the finishing and preparing it for sale (and even working with our realtor). The work was beautiful, and the condo sold the first day it was on the market - I credit John's expertise and craftsmanship. Despite living in another state, I always felt like I was connected to the project as John was always available, kept me up-to-date on everything and was wonderful to work with. I couldn't be happier!

Aaron, John, and their crew are a dedicated bunch. The paint in all over our (newly purchased) house was peeling, flaking, tested, and deemed a hazard. Bayer Builders took care of the kitchen renovation, which required careful removal of lead-painted cabinets, and they also performed a VERY detailed paint job throughout our house on the trim and original built in cabinets. They also laid a new subfloor and eco-friendly linoleum in the kitchen. PROS Aaron and John took care of the permit process in a timely manner John and Aaron understood our concerns as new parents with a baby in the home and were very thoughtful and meticulous when taking care to clean up and cover up the old paint. When issues came up (and trust me, if you do a kitchen reno, they will come up!) Aaron personally explained our options. For example, called the flooring vendor when they were delayed on the flooring shipment and ensured that we get a discount on the materials since it delayed the rest of the project. Aaron took care of other small projects around the home, such as installing a safety railing on our basement stairs. Aaron was loyal and honest throughout the process. This was hands down the best thing about the project with Bayer Builders. We didn’t have to check up on him or question his motives….he has a GREAT attitude and was very respectful of our home. The project was totally on budget according to their estimate! Not only do we have a safe kitchen we have a BEAUTIFUL kitchen. Everyone who comes to our home “wows” when they see it. CONS Because of several issues with the reno that were beyond control of Bayer, it took longer than expected. But what renovation doesn’t? Overall, they made our home safer for our baby...and anyone else who enters it! We feel confident living in our home for years to come.

Wow! Bayer Builders just finished building a new porch, repairing siding on the back of our house and installing a window. We are so impressed with the owners and the work of Seth and Marco, the carpenters, was outstanding! John Bayer gave us a detailed estimate, worked hard with the city to get our permits (even with changing a few things), and was honest with us about what could be expected. This is definitely the company to hire! We will be using them again and again!

John and his team at Bayer Builders are the best. We hired them to replace our old rotting wooden deck that was not built to code. During the project they encountered several issues that were hidden by previous owners of our home, not a surprise to anyone who has bought an older home. They quickly brought them to our attention and provided us with budget friendly solutions. Now we have a beautiful deck (Seth is an incredible craftsman), and a safer home that is all up to code. John and his team take pride in their work and are very professional. We’ll be hiring them again for future projects, that is for sure.

They were extremely professional and open to new ideas my wife had for the project. We hired them for our front porch and they delivered. As important, if not more, they fought with our city to ensure we didn't need extra permits or to hire extra people. It saved us a lot of money.

My wife and I had John repair wall damage in shower/tub and do a complete tile job including installing new shower doors. John is honest, dependable, fair, and a super nice guy to boot. His quote was very detailed and clear, which really eased our anxieties as we moved through the process of working through the project. John promised to bring in an expert tile man, and he certainly delivered with Chris. Chris turned out to be quite the craftsman and artist with the tile. Chris, as John was, turned out to be very clear and transparent with what he was doing throughout. He was also a very friendly and pleasant person to have in your home working. The results look great and, get this, we somehow managed to come in nearly $500 under budget due to John's diligence and transparency. My wife and I really feel lucky to have found a contractor of such quality as Bayer Builders to work with on our home projects in the coming years. Highly Recommended! Barry B. -- Berwyn,IL
