Behr Construction and Kurt Knechtel are true professionals, and I would highly recommend them for any home construction or remodel project. Two of our neighbors had used Behr before us and both raved about their customer service and work product. We received bids from Behr and two other contractors for a home addition and bathroom remodel in our craftsman home. Behr's bid was fair and well-prepared, and given the neighbors' reviews, we hired them for our project. Everything they did was on time or early, they kept the work area clean, their crew was wonderful, they stayed within budget, and we could not be more pleased with the final product. I think it's also important to note that they did all of this just after COVID hit. The demolition on our back deck started March 10, 2020, and a week later the state was closed down (with construction being an exception). Kurt and the folks at Behr took some time off to think critically about what they could and couldn't do safely, and came up with a good working plan and safety protocols, which allowed them to continue working. Even with COVID, they were able to have us moved in earlier than expected. Behr is an exceptional construction company and I highly recommend them.

Bathroom remodel: High quality work done in a professional manner, on schedule, with little mess or disruption to the household. John Mills is always available, always responsive and a pleasure to work with. This is clearly my best experience with a contractor.

We could not have been happier with the professionalism, knowledge and care that was used while working with the Behr Construction. We truly felt that John Mills oversaw our remodel as though it was his own home. All of the subs were knowledgable and courteous and importantly helped to keep our home as orderly and usable as possible under the circumstances. All deadlines were met as closely as possible and if ever an error was made Behr took responsibility and made it correct. The Behr Construction Company has recently completed its second remodeling/restoration task in the past two years for me. The first job was the total remodel of my 1960’s vintage ranch style home. Working to my designs, the building was stripped to the open studs, interior walls removed and relocated, all the windows and doors were replaced, the electrical wiring was completely replaced, lots of concrete work was accomplished and the roof replaced. I was very pleased with all of the work, with the quality and craftsmanship of Behr’s in-house personnel and their subs. The job was well managed and completed on schedule at the agreed to cost. The finished work was so good that the house was chosen to be featured in the ASID Pasadena Chapter 2014 Kitchen and Home Tour. Based upon their excellent performance on the house remodel, I engaged Behr for the restoration of my beach condo following significant water damage. The drywall and electrical systems were replaced in half of the building. All the plumbing fixtures were replaced, all the flooring replaced and everything was painted. Again, the job was completed on schedule and on the agreed to cost. Many of the same subs and in-house personnel from the first job were used which was very satisfying. While parking is at a real premium in the beach community, the neighbor across the street remarked that all the workers were extremely considerate and caused no concerns to the neighborhood or local traffic. I chose Behr again because their great job management, efficient scheduling, great communication with their project managers, and their fine business practices. In both cases, I worked closely with the project managers and totally enjoyed the interactions. The quality of work met or exceeded all my expectations and is guaranteed for a year.

2000 - 2014 Behr Construction Company has remodeled or repaired almost our entire home beginning in 2000 and continuing until 2014. We began with the master bedroom in 2000. In 2004, Behr did a complete kitchen remodel, including rewiring and re-plumbing the entire kitchen and laundry room/pantry. In 2009, the company made all the structural changes required to install a large elevator from the garage to an inside hallway. This involved remodeling the guest room to provide some of the space needed for the elevator shaft. In 2010, Behr remodeled the master bath and in 2011 the hall bath to improve accessibility; update tile, fixtures, and décor; and install radiant heat under the floors. These major jobs were all done while we were in residence. How was that possible? Behr is known for its excellent job supervision, careful protection, and meticulous daily site cleanups. For most of our projects, our job supervisor was Matt Vuyovich, who works wonders with scheduling, requires excellent work of the subcontractors, is responsive to the client's/architect's requirements and instructions, and handles interactions with city planning and building departments. In addition to major projects, Behr has done countless repairs and upgrades, including indirect lighting, windows, doors, decks, porches, and others over the past 14 years. The company provides an unusually complete range of services to its regular clients because customer service and satisfaction are its highest priorities. Clients are treated with respect. Jeff Baker, the Chief Operating Officer, develops the project proposal and cost estimates, and goes over everything with the customers. Once determined, costs are fixed unless the customer needs changes or additions. The company is licensed, bonded, and insured. Work is done on time; in fact, one project was finished early to coincide with a holiday dinner party we had planned.

They did a great job. They made sure things were done right. We had the bathrooms remodeled, windows replaced and plumbing replaced. Fred was excellent to work with. He was very helpful and professional. I would use them again.

Behr Construction recently completed an area drain project on my entire property. All of the area drains were invaded by tree roots. They dug up old drains and replaced them all with higher grade pipes. The existing sprinkler system was also damaged and this was upgraded and replaced as well. Several gutters were replaced. The sidewalks that were removed for construction purposes were replaced to match existing ones. All of this work was completed to our satisfaction and on time. Gregg Valdez was the project manager who was excellent at pointing out issues that needed to be addressed and then arranging for all the work to be done by reliable contractors. Thank you Behr for another successful project Have been using this company since 1992!!

I bought a 1958 mid-century modern home in the late 1990's. Although it was architecturally unmodified, it had been rented for many years and was in dire need of work. After doing much rehabilitation outside, I was ready to begin the interior and, at the suggestion of a neighbor, contacted Behr Construction. Behr began work on the interior in 2004, and I have worked with them since that time on numerous projects, both interior and exterior. It has been the greatest gift possible to have had their services during all the intervening years. My most recent work with Behr was in 2012 when there was a water leak under the kitchen floor, and in the fall of 2013 when they worked with me on a project involving the problems of a steep hillside. Of great importance to me, Behr has understood and been respectful of the home's architecture. Among other projects, they have gutted and totally rebuilt the kitchen, as well as the master and guest bathrooms, installed stone tile in the hallway and other rooms, and repaired and upgraded other areas of the house. Outside they have built a garage door and worked with patio and landscaping problems. Still to be done are outside cupboards and brick and cement work. There is no project that they have been unable or unwilling to do. In addition to the beautiful work they do, and equally important, is the fact that the estimate they provide at the beginning of a project is what it will actually cost. They always have ideas, suggestions and options to make the work less expensive and /or better. Finally, they want the client to be satisfied and will go to great lengths to see that the client is happy with the final result. I am delighted with my home and owe much of my satisfaction with it to Behr Construction. I recommend them wholeheartedly.

I recently used Behr for a kitchen / living room additional / remodel and bathroom remodel. Behr provided a detailed estimate and standard AIA contract that gave me confidence in the scope of the contracted for work. While the project had some unexpected change orders, Behr generally handled these well and provided explanation for cost increases. The quality of the work appears to be very good and the project finished ahead of schedule.

Behr Construction renovated our entire home. We added 110 sq ft to the master bedroom and totally remodeled our bathrooms, kitchen and family room. Actually there was not a room in the house that did not have something done to it. The project lasted 8 months. Behr's subcontractors were excellent especially the painters, electricians and plumbers. We are really happy with the results and would recommend Behr Construction for your remodeling projects. They stand behind their work.

Behr Construction did a terrific job with our home addition in Sherman Oaks. Behr was the most professional of the four contractors we got bids from. Everything from the contract form to the supervision and the quality of the subcontractors was top notch. Even when there was a major mistake made by the original job supervisor, Kurt Knechtel from Behr took control of the job site, fixed the problems and immediately got us back on schedule. We would absolutely consider hiring Behr again and we have actually recommended them to many of our friends.

Behr Construction has just recently finished our family room and kitchen remodel. We were so impressed with the craftsmanshipp and project management! They came in under budget as well. I would highly recommend them and look forward to working with them again on Phase II of our project, the Master Bath!!!
