Calais Custom Homes

Calais just finished our beautiful new home. From the initial design meeting it has been smooth sailing. Todd and Christine were amazing to work with, kept us informed, and were founts of knowledge regarding custom items we wanted to include. We would definitely use them again.

In the past 12 years, Calais Custom Homes has built two homes for us. In each project, Mr. Handwerk assisted with lot selection; architect selection and designer selection. From that point, the process was handed off to a professional project manager who handled the daily tasks all while communicating with us on a daily basis. There are quite a number of decisions in building a custom home and the Calais Custom Home team made sure that the process was smooth and as "stress free" as possible. I cant say that a 3rd home is in our future, but if that situation presents itself, the construction sign for Calais Custom Homes will again be on display.

They actually come back and fix their problems. They built a wonderful house for us. Their workers were very courteous. I would recommend.

Todd Handwerk, Michael Reeder and Todd Stone worked with us to build our home in Colleyville in 2005. It was such a great experience. The whole team is extremely professional, the project ran on time, and they always went the extra mile to make sure things were done right. Would definitely use them again! In addition to all that I still consider them a resource after nearly 12 years!

Calais did some prior renovation at another house and was impressed with quality of sub-contractors and follow-up. As we designed/built a new house, in hindsight I would not use the suggested local architectures: never really established a good rapport with them. Calais guided us through the contracts and were professional, personable. The building process is very labored, having a good/knowledgeable and consistent Calais representative is a MUST. Their sub-contractors were for the most part good--understanding that quality work is pricey and Calais on more than one occasion had the work re-done to meet drawings/code/quality standards. They always gave the "feeling" they were on your side. At completion, --construction took a year in part due to initial unusual weather in 2014/15 (snow/ice), the continued follow-up of latent punch-list items has been thorough--perhaps slow due to scheduling, availability of talented workers. But the job gets done!! We were on budget, except for when we chose to "up" the quality i.e. book cases/cabinets/fixtures. Our relationship with Calais continues today....and would be pleased to recommend.

Calais Custom Homes is one of the best builders that we have had the privilege to work with over the last 15 years, and their finished product is second to none. We have completed both traditional and more modern homes with Calais, and in each case the home is thoughtfully finished and incredibly well organized. I would be excited to have Calais build my personal home, I am that impressed with the product I have seen them build.
