A few years ago my wife and I hired Capital City Builders to build our new home. We had never built before and were very apprehensive about the process. We met with Tony and he took it from there. It was the easiest and most cost effective process. We had so much fun building our home with the help of Capital City Builders. Getting to pick out and build your own home from scratch is really a great experience . Its now been two years and we are still enjoying every day in out new home. I can't thank Tony and his crew enough! Thanks Again, Jon and Patricia

Capital City Builders of SC did a great job building my home in the Pintail Point subdivision in Gilbert, SC. We passed every inspection on the very first try every time. Tony did a great job getting low prices from subcontractors and fought hard on my behalf against additional charges. We were very pleased with our building experience.

We hired Tony Behles to repair our kitchen damage after a small leak under the dishwasher turned into a disaster. The insurance company quickly offered us a $4000 check, but Tony went to bat for us and met with the insurance adjuster to point out all the damage they failed to see. The damage under the dishwasher and sink spread halfway across the kitchen under most of the cabinets, up two of the walls where black mold had spread into the family room under the paneling and carpeting. The damage extended into the dining room and hallway as well since they were all connected by the same section of carpeting that was being replaced because of mold.
The kitchen and family room had to be completely gutted down to the crawl space and all mold removed or treated. We got a completely redesigned kitchen with beautiful cabinets, solid surface counter tops, a custom tile back splash, can lighting, an updated family room with bead board paneling and custom lighting, new carpeting and even resurfaced the ceilings. Since the adjacent rooms were being re-carpeted we chose to paint the dining room and hallway, too. I can honestly say that thanks to Tony, what would have been a patch job on damage turned into a beautiful remodel of the entire downstairs of my house (except living room and foyer).
Tony and his crew finished all the work in six weeks as promised. They were very professional, very thorough, very friendly, and actually made the 6 weeks of living without a kitchen a fun adventure. I don’t know how, but they managed to clean up all the mess (and there was a lot) every night before they left so that we could use as much of the house as possible in between. We did come in slightly over budget, because every time I said to the crew, I wish that doorway was wider, or I wish that opening was higher, or I need to get that fixed someday, etc., they found a way to do whatever I wanted them to do. We were so blessed to have had Tony and his crew working on our home and we still comment on how much we love all the changes we made. Thank you Tony and Capital City Builders.

I first hired Tony Behles in 1997 to build a 400 square foot addition on the back of my house. I found Tony to be helpful and accommodating as well as honest and dependable. Since then I have hired Tony for many projects at my home as well as two rental houses. These projects include a total renovation of a master bathroom suite, roofs installed on 2 different houses, a front porch remodel with new columns and wrought iron railings, a 20 x 30 wooden deck, a house renovation that consisted of tearing out a brick faced fireplace and replacing with tile, as well as some kitchen remodeling. The most recent and largest project I hired Tony for was last year. I had just purchased a 1966 foreclosed home that was very dated and in major need of an overhaul. Tony and his crew completely gutted the house and rebuilt it. Projects included all new electricity, new plumbing, wooden paneling removed and replaced with sheetrock, brick fireplace removed, closet built, 2 bathrooms with ceramic tile gutted and totally renovated, a screen in porch that was torn down to the studs and rebuilt into a proper heated/cooled room and the list goes on and on.
Through all of these projects I have always found Tony to be honest. While the jobs did not always run without hiccups, and at times things cost more than planned (that will happen occasionally) I always felt Tony had my best interest at heart and was trying to do right by me. On more than one occasion he made the additional effort to suggest little things that I hadn’t thought about that ultimately made the end result more than I could have imagined.
All of these projects were completed in a timely manner and with great communication from Tony as far as how the project was going and how and where the money was being spent. I would not hesitate to recommend Tony and Capital City Builders to any of my friends and family nor would I hesitate to hire him again for myself.

Great honest and respectable company and very family oriented! I was recommended Tony for some emergency repairs to a home we had tenants in. We were 8 hours away. He got in the house fast and contacted us with repair estimates. Within no time he had his crew in there completing the job. And also sending us pictures along the way. He did an amazing job matching up old paint. We have used him several times since and would recommend him for all you building needs. Its hard to find honest hard working people now but he's the one to go to. He treated us like we were his only client at that time.

This builder went about 25% over budget on framing and roofing causing us to cut everywhere we could to make up for poor budgeting skills. The experience was especially stressful because the builder did not take responsibilty for anything, from budgeting to quality control. He was not a man of his word and was either "forgetful" or dishonest. Scheduling subcontractors was constantly a problem. The house went for several weeks with no work completed many times throughout the year. He considers himself a custom builder, but most of his subcontractors are only familiar with tract building. They are both unwilling and unskilled to do any work outside their normal tract building experience. We have been living in our house two months and we continue to wait for the builder to complete some areas or repair areas where they did not follow manufacturer installation instructions. The construction site was not cleaned up so we had to pay to have the material removed.

Comment from Capital City Builders of SC, Inc:
We work diligently to run a good/honest business, to stand behind our work, and to protect the interests of our clients. As a result, we have been blessed with a steady flow of work since 2007 strictly from word-of mouth. This review was a difficult read, more so because we're just seeing it months after the fact and because we feel it's misleading and inaccurate. Rather than engage in defense on this public forum, we simply hope the homeowner, in time, develops a more balanced perception of the events and an appreciation for the thoroughness, the competence, and the unwavering nature with which her custom home was built in 10 months with only a 12-item punch list. Between punch, a 60-day warranty and an upcoming one-year warranty period, we have worked with the homeowner to address any questions or concerns and will continue to do so. Our website, our previous project sites, and any number of professional references will speak to the custom builder we are and the integrity with which we handle ourselves.

Delighted for this opportunity. Tony is the most detailed professional contractor I have had the pleasure to work with. Mine was a simple open covered deck add on and backyard fence. This man builds 6,000 sq ft and up homes but tackled these comparatively small projects as if it was a major house construction. He brought in job specific work crews explained specifically to them what materials were to be used, how the job was to be completed, and by when. These crews would work diligently all day here never leaving to "finish up another project". Tony took the time to come by my house everyday to inspect the work performed by his crews. He actually would look at nail spacing on the fence and deck porch. If I had any questions during the process I could call him; he would politely take all the time needed to satisfy my concerns. If he was unsure over the phone about what I was attempting to ask he would jump in his truck and come over to inspect first hand. Additionally, Tony would take time to just talk about things other that the job at hand. I've never had this comfort level with any construction work no matter the size of the project. Many neighbors even commented how quickly my project was completed and the integrity of the work. Finally, to my amazement, his quote for the work was less than others who were not using like quality materials or craftsmanship Tony quoted. It just does not get any better.
