Design & Build Remodelers

We had sustained water damage to our kitchen wood floor due to a leaky dishwasher. We decided that since we had to get the wood floors repaired, we would get some extra work done at the same time. We hired Design & Build Remodelers to (i) pull up carpet in the family room that was attached to the kitchen and replace it with wood; (ii) sand and stain the newly installed wood floor in addition to the repaired kitchen floor; (iii) and do some repair to the drywall and backsplash in both the family room and kitchen. The kitchen floor ties into both the living room and den wood floors but these floors were in good shape and did not need to be sanded or stained. Therefore, it was very important the newly stained kitchen floor had to match and tie into the living room and den floors since they literally all flowed together. We had used Design & Build Remodelers on two prior occasions, once for a complete kitchen remodel and the other time to convert a deck into a screened in porch. So, there was no hesitation in having Gary (Sensitive Information Hidden) (owner) do this job. As usual Gary and his crew did an outstanding job! The newly stained kitchen floor is beautiful; you could never tell there was any water damage and Gary’s “wood guy” was able to match and tie into perfectly the kitchen floor with the living room and den floors. Gary’s team also did a great job on fixing (i) several dry wall cracks in the kitchen and family room ceiling, along with repairing some other drywall issues; and (ii) replacing several cracked backsplash blocks with new blocks. This is the third time we have used Design & Build Remodelers, (and this was admittedly a smaller job than the prior jobs) and the reason we keep using Design & Build Remodelers is: (1) quality of work; (2) the ease to work with Gary; (3) the professionalism and attention to detail of Gary and his subcontractors; (4) how Gary ensures the customer is happy and satisfied and knowing that he stands behind his work; and (5) maybe the most important, knowing the end result will looking amazing. Usually, when someone decides to remodel there is a fair (or maybe great) amount of stress of working with the contractor and wondering how the job is going to turn out. The fantastic thing that we have learned that when we have Design and Build Remodelers do a job for us, there is no stress of working with Design & Build Remodelers or fear of what the final result will look like . That is worth a lot!

We have used Design & Build Remodelers many times over the last 20 years for large and small projects. The projects have included new windows and siding, finishing a basement and garage, and adding a deck to our house. Gary has been outstanding to work with on these projects. Our project included every room in our four bedroom home plus exterior design, new siding, roof repairs, gutters, and demolishing and rebuilding a large deck. The project included new tongue and groove hardwood flooring throughout, all new cabinets and countertops in kitchen and bathrooms, new tubs, showers, and toilets, complete interior painting, rebuilding an interior staircase, upgrading our low-voltage electrical system, replacing all doors and woodwork, rebuilding fireplace mantle, adding recessed lighting, rerouting some plumbing, and a host of small things too numerous to mention. This project had been begun and mishandled by others so some work had to redeemed and completed to professional standards. We selected Design & Build Remodelers (D&BR) from a list of candidates that ranged from smallest to the largest construction and remodeling companies. D&BR was the only bidder to submit a comprehensive, phased bid that took our special needs into consideration. They had taken the time and effort to understand our needs in detail, make suggestions, and price out a plan that was exactly tailored to our situation. D&BR’s work was really first rate, very high quality, and timely. They began and completed each phase right on schedule and never exceeded their bid. We’d never seen it done that well. If we decided we wanted extra things done or opted for higher grade material than was bid, they worked with us to adjust their bid to our satisfaction. We were never overcharged for anything. In fact they added some quality touches we hadn’t discussed without additional charge. They work with top subcontractors as needed and never attempt something better left to a sub. D&BR was delightful to work with. They helped us with color and design choices and found polite, friendly ways to suggest that some of our choices might be improved upon. They work quickly and neatly never leaving an unsightly mess behind. We are completely pleased with Design & Build Remodelers, LLC. We know that, should any problems arise, they will be right there to help. I honestly had no idea that such a company existed. We would recommend them to anyone needing remodeling work and would not hesitate to call on them in the future.

I hired Gary two times recently. The first was a kitchen remodel in September 2016 the second was an attic in February 2017. Gary was very professional, honest and fair from the beginning to the end of each project. He completed both projects quickly with little disruption to my daily life. He is talented, detail oriented and provided wonderful suggestions to make each remodel better and was always conscience to maintain the dignity and character of my home. I am very pleased with everything Gary did to my home and he exceeded my expectations both times.

We have found Design & Rebuild Remodelers (D&BR) to be an excellent choice for our various home remodeling projects. The owner, Gary Philipp, has performed most of the work on our home, so specific feedback relates to his work for us. Our opinion is based on a number of factors, of which the most important include the following: 1. Skilled workmanship: Gary possesses multiple artisan skill sets of excellent quality. His diverse range of skills include tiling, construction, finishing, plumbing, and cabinetry. His work has been of very high quality. We were pleased to find one professional who could accomplish the range of projects we wanted completed for our home. 2. Work Ethic: Gary jumped on our set of projects and works with a clear sense of urgency focused on the customer. He understood our project goals and executed work based upon those goals. The work has been extremely functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. 3. Flexibility: We had several factors that impacted how quickly the work could be completed, all of which were our responsibility. Gary and D&BR worked around our obstacles given his multiple jobs and more than met our schedule goals. Also, we asked for several modifications of projects in the process of completion and Gary took them in stride. Any changes in cost were clearly outlined for us and extremely reasonable. Finally, our home was built over 50 years ago and contained characteristics that were hard to work with in completing the projects. Gary's diverse skill set enabled him to overcome these challenges and perform all of the work. 4. Communication: Gary was a pleasure to work with due to his strong communication skills. He asked great questions at the initial meeting to understand the nature of the projects and how they were expected to enhance the enjoyment of our home. Periodically, he raised questions when he faced challenges in project completion in order to ensure our wishes were reflected in his work. One especially strong communication trait Gary exhibited was a talent for resourcefulness. He was quick to identify potential issues of varying importance while offering reasonable options to solving the problems - all within our overall goal for the projects. We found his suggestions to be on point and helpful in extracting maximum value from his work. We adopted more than one of his ideas since they were of high value add. This characteristic was extremely helpful since we did not possess much expertise in remodeling beyond painting. Finally, Gary was quick to recommend contractors who could complete major projects involving skills he was not specifically qualified for (carpeting and cement work). We found them to be similar to Gary in professionalism. Overall, we were relieved to find D&BR and hire them to complete our projects. We found high value add for a more than reasonable cost.

We have been using Gary for over ten years. He has finished our basement, done a remodel on our family room and master bath, and designed and built a beautiful deck and porch. He does excellent work. I would also like to add when we had some flooding in our basement, he dropped what he was doing to come help us out. Could not recommend Gary more highly.

Gary remodeled our screened in porch. He wrapped the old cedar supports in vinyl, replaced the screens with Ezy- breeze screens and windows, built a deck and stairs. He completed the project in a timely manner and kept the site clean. I plan on using Design & Build Remodelers in our future projects. Gary is precise, exacting and takes pride in his work. I have recommended him to friends.
