It was 1963, I was 15 years old and I had a summer job working on a paint crew, so I guess you could say I have been involved in the remodeling industry for over 50 years. I thought then that this was not the life for me. I re-entered the industry in 1975 at time when the prevailing perception was that remodelers were either at worst a bunch of thieves or at best second class citizens in the world of builders. I have spent nearly all of my professional career working both within the industry and in the community to change that perception. I have tried to create the most professional remodeling company that is possible in order to continually produce great remodeling projects. I believe that it takes a team of quality people working well together to complete those projects and it is my job to nurture that team. To that end I have developed a simple business philosophy. I try to treat my employees, sub-contractors, vendors, suppliers, clients and competitors with respect as hard-working adults who deserve my best every day. As a result I hope to get their best every day in return. I like to tell my clients that they are about to make a new temporary best friend and as in any relationship there will be a few bad days mixed in with the good days. That we need to work together to overcome the problems so that we can enjoy the project. In other words I want my clients to be on the team Over the years I earned a designations as a Certified Remodeler and Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler from NARI and recently qualified as the first Master Certified Remodeler in Indiana. It is now 2015 and as I look back at my 50-year involvement in the remodeling industry and I realize that I was mistaken back in 1963. This is the life for me.
