As someone who had purchased a home 8 hours away from where we were currently living, I needed someone reliable, that I could trust to do great work on our home and carry out the vision we had wanted for a remodel and upgrades. Brandon Duinkerken was exactly the person we had hoped for. We had plans for a kitchen remodel, three bathroom remodel, and several internal home upgrades. Between COVID and being so far away, Brandon kept a seamless line of communication between us and everyone involved with the project. He is an extremely personable guy, and I would not have wanted to work with someone who was purely focused on work, money, deadlines, etc. He was extremely realistic with us along the entire process, making recommendations, providing us with valuable information as far as costs and value, and had a great "what would he do" attitude along the whole project. He made us feel extremely comfortable with the work being done. Our remodel came out beautiful, turning our home into our mountain dream home. Everything is extremely high quality from the work done, to the fixtures and small details. Prior to moving in, we also met two other member's of his team, and can tell he really has a great group working for him. Duinkerken Homes have been exceptionally accommodating to work with from a design perspective. They take a direct approach to every challenge and produce a great final product. I would recommend working with Duinkerken Homes to both peers in the design profession as well as homeowners.

We hired Duinkerken Homes after we had a devastating house fire caused by arson. The home burned 50%, which left us in a difficult situation. I interviewed 6 contractors and Brandon was the only one with a positive attitude to take the project on. Brandon built us a new home and addition on the old foundation and floor joists. Brandon and his team did a great job during the complicated demolition phase. Several of the walls we able to be salvaged, Dunkirken Homes put all that parts back together again seamlessly. The other element that made this challenging was dealing with the insurance company. We had good insurance but the process is always messy. Duinkirken Homes created estimates and detailed invoices along the way so that I was able to submit for reimbursement. The insurance sent independent inspectors and Brandon’s crew passed with flying colors. Our house is in the city, which means all permitting, had to go through the city inspection process. Because we were in a unique situation Brandon arranged a meeting with the city’s head inspector so that everyone was on the same page. The only hiccup was a last minute rule change from the city. Brandon took this in stride and worked until the problem was fixed so that we could get our occupancy permit. Overall I would say that Brandon’s strength is being able to take complicated projects and make them simple through his experience as a builder. I would hire Brandon again. I really do not know who in Asheville would have been able to complete our project other then Brandon with his renovation experience.

Update: I have attempted to start a project with this contractor for over a year at this point and he has proved difficult to work with at this point, seems too busy. Cannot recommend at this time. I would remove review, but am unable to. Recently purchasing our home, we decided to have a 2nd child, with this we needed additional living space. We hired Brandon and his crew to come in and remodel a basement room into a bedroom, office, relocate the laundry room, and turn a 1/2 bath into a full master bath. After speaking with a few contractors, Brandon was the most personable out of the bunch, and had the additional benefit of being a neighbor of mine, unbeknownst to me prior to selecting him. Speaking with about the details of the project was simple, Brandon was ultimately not a salesman, but knew his customer and gave a true Good/Better/Best scenario for everything, which is a great. Other contractors tried to push me in directions out of my budget, while Brandon was mindful and respectful of these facts, and provided appropriate suggestions for the work we had in mind. The process was excellent, his crew was awesome to have around the house, taught me a bit in the process, and gave me the confidence to not be scared of renovations, and home structures. Since I got to watch the process, I have been more confident in pursuing improvement projects around the house with my newly gained knowledge of interior structure. The crew we're all knowledgeable people, and a pleasure to work with in every aspect. The work was done on time, the clean up was complete, and successfully inspected by appropriate sources. Going a step further, Brandon even followed up a bit after the project to ensure everything was to our liking, and seeing how us as a family we're doing. In the future, I would not hesitate to call on Brandon for any project I'd like to start, my only issue is I wish I had more money to throw his way to continue improving our home.

We sought out Duinkerken Homes to renovate our business entrance and have since used them for several small and large projects around our business as well as our homes. From the painters to the office administrator, I have never met a more professional team. Construction can sometimes be stressful but each member of the Duinkerken team put us at ease and completed each task as promised. I would highly recommend that you have this group check out your projects, you will not be disappointed!

Duinkerken Homes did a beautiful job on totally renovating our mountain home. It was quite a challenging project, but turned out better than we ever imagined that it could. I work from home, so when looking for contractors for our kitchen remodel it was really important that I chose someone that I was comfortable being with all day and having in my home. After interviewing a few contractors I just couldn't find a group that I meshed with enough to feel like hiring. Luckily I found Brandon and his crew! Not only was Brandon's quote the lowest price and the only contractor that actually encouraged me to keep my kitchen cabinets, but he definitely had the best personality. I loved working with Brandon and his team. They were always respectful of the fact that I was working, but always kept me up to date as to what they were doing and the potential cost and time implications. My husband is a very picky perfectionist and Brandon was great about explaining exactly what the plan for the renovation was and what would work best. Brandon even came out to our house one evening because my husband had a question about some of the plumbing that he put in. Even though we had quite a few unexpected set backs (none of which were Brandon's team's fault) they still finished within the agreed upon time frame. The end cost was slightly above the quoted price, but we added in quite a few things once the project got started and everything was very plainly outlined on the final invoice. We are loving our new kitchen and really appreciate all the work that Brandon, John and Graham did for us!

He were very pleased with the work that transformed our small deck to a full-sized screened patio. Because Brandon and his crew are craftsmen, not "construction guys," the patio has wood details that make it a masterpiece of woodwork. We started the project with a few sketches, drawings and photos (not formal architectural plans) and Brandon worked and collaborated with us to optimize the outcome, and the result is a porch that significantly increases the value of our home and the quality of our lifestyle.
