We hired East Ridge Construction for a major renovation project: we replaced all of the doors, casings, and moldings throughout our house, and renovated our kitchen, foyer, and bathrooms. We can’t say enough about the owners, Chris Portante and his son Chris Jr. – their knowledge, work, and craftsmanship are truly unparalleled. Chris and Chris Jr. are the consummate professionals; they are extremely knowledgeable (a quality that is lost on home contractors these days), and they get the job done right, on time, and at budget. These guys are true craftsmen - they know what they are doing and they do it right. They don't cut any corners. They also offer their suggestions every step of the way to ensure that the work is done the right way and the finished product is perfect. In addition, Chris always provided accurate cost estimates with each project - there was never an additional cost or charge unless we wanted to make a change or addition. Home renovations can be stressful, but not with these guys on the job, and it truly meant the world to us to have a peace of mind knowing that everything would be done properly, on time, and at budget. They are also incredibly clean, neat, and organized, and they treat your home as if it was their own – you will never come home to a mess. Our project took several months to complete and these guys showed up on time every day. After some time on the job, we felt completely comfortable giving them the keys to our home, allowing them to come and go as they pleased – something we had never done in the past, nor will likely ever do with anyone else in the future. In addition, given the enormity of our project, there were various subcontractors that needed to be coordinated in order to get the project moving – Chris and Chris Jr. always arranged for each sub to be at our home when they needed to be, thereby avoiding any confusion, frustration, or delays. All of the subcontractors that the Chris’s brought to our home were the utmost professionals, equally talented in their respective fields. In fact, we have kept in touch with some of the subcontractors and continue to call upon them when needed. On top of everything, Chris and Chris Jr. are such a joy and pleasure to be around – their warmth, kindness, and sense of humor are infectious. They become like a part of your family, and are truly missed now that our project is complete. We intend to hire Chris and Chris Jr. for any other projects we may need done in the future. We cannot trust anyone else in our home after experiencing the quality from East Ridge.

East Ridge Construction Co. recently completed an interior renovation of my home (Upgrade wood flooring, widen an interior entry way, crown moldings, upgrade floor & door molding, painting). Chris Sr. & Chris Jr. (a/k/a East Ridge) are expert professionals, above & beyond what is considered the norm in the industry. Their craftsmanship is impeccable, built upon years of experience. My parents & numerous siblings have used East Ridge for over 30 years. They are indeed considered our "Family Contractors"...no small feat considering our high standards. A prospective client would have to search far & wide to find a better construction company to meet their construction & /or renovation desires. Using East Ridge is a smart decision, well worth the investment a home owner places in their home.

East Ridge has been my trusted resource for home improvement for over 20 years. It is a family owned business and the Portantes, Chris and Chris Jr., are gems and rarities in today’s construction world. Besides providing true artisanship in many disciplines, East Ridge provides exceptional contracting and project management skills. You can expect your project to be run smoothly and to be finished in a timely manner. Never have I encountered a problem that East Ridge could not handle efficiently and expertly In my experience over the past years, the Portantes are have completed projects as small as a master bedroom spruce-up with new crown molding, new doors, and hardware to large projects such as a kitchen remodel, multiple bathroom remodels, and an entire sunroom that was taken down to bare studs and rebuilt to amazing results. I trust the subcontractors that East Ridge provides implicitly and have never been disappointed. In fact, the choice of subcontractors is so excellent that I have formed lasting relationships and continue to use their services for painting, plumbing, electrical, etc. For me, I’ve learned that it costs more money to employ “bargain” contractors. They are a waste of time and money and cause more stress than needed. Their inferior job always needs to be re-done correctly, costing more money in the end. East Ridge stands for craftsmanship, integrity, and professionalism in a world where these qualities are hard to find. Construction and remodeling is never easy, but the Portantes take the worry out of the job and the results are well worth the effort.

Just completed a major remodel of our basement, installation of a new roof and other updates to our ranch style home. The finished project is beyond our expectations and all structural issues are resolved due to Chris and Chris Jr.'s knowledge, experience and meticulous attention to detail. Our basement was transformed from a wet, dark, damp and unused space into a welcoming, comfortable addition to our living space. Lastly, these two gentlemen are consummate professionals and genuinely good people.

Chris and Chris Jr. of East Ridge Construction are true professionals. Their craftsmanship, attention to detail,cleanliness, suggestions and contagious warm personalities, are a rare and welcome combination ! They did a total rip out and renovation of our Main Bathroom. They performed the work in a timely fashion and coordinated their other trade professionals ,who were also fantastic , in a seamless harmony. Not only did we get fantastic work at a reasonable price, but we also were entertained and felt as if we truly made new friends who we highly recommend ! Our 1950's pink & black guest bathroom was stripped to the studs,rebuilt and transformed into a classic beauty within the same footprint by the East Ridge team. Chris has been performing renovation work for us since 1982 in our two homes in Bergen County. The numerous jobs ranged in price from $25K to $300K. His attention to detail when quoting prices eliminates any worry of unexpected upcharges as the job progresses unless you, the homeowner, make changes mid-stream. Chris is meticulous and precise and will not tolerate mediocre work from any sub he brings to a job site. Chris's scheduling of subs and jockeying the worksite space for subs to work together is a talent unappreciated by customer's unless you have experience with disorganized contractors. The most recent project East Ridge completed included deconstructing a bathroom with a toilet, tub/shower doors, vanity from the 1950's. He readded electrical feeds into the room, changed placement of and added light fixtures, an exhaust fan, auxiliary heater and removed the old radiator from the wall and installed radiant heat in the floor. He moved the sewer line in the room to meet new codes. The craftsmen he used for the marble work were primo. They cut, on-site, 12X12 marble into 6X6 subway tiles for the job. Every tile was a custom cut to fit the room which has a clipped roof. The custom shower stall had 4X4 marble custom cut on site and set on the diagonal with precision beyond compare. This bath was small but the intricate work performed is evident each time someone looks at the transformation and gasps at the beauty. That job lead to adding some architectural moldings to a staircase and crown moldings to dress up the interior of the house. East Ridge is Chris and Chris Jr. who are old world craftsmen whose talents are endless and these days, underappreciated. They treat your property as if it were there own. They are neat, tidy, and make every attempt to minimize the disruption to your home during the job. We are extremely particular about quality and East Ridge is the only contractor we will allow in our home to perform renovation work.

Job: Remodeled master and childrens' bathrooms and 1 powder room. Remodeled attic expanding existing room: added wood flooring, reconfigured roof line to accommodate new wall of windows, reworked heating /cooling systems to this area and other areas in home, installed bathroom. Created unique door solution for expanded entrance to TV room in main living area and added molding in same. Upgraded sink areas in kitchen and laundry room. Reconfigured & expanded driveway and installed lamp post. Created closet off foyer. I am still in awe at the ease with which this remodeling was accomplished. Chris Portante's East Ridge Construction is truly a professional, creative, highly skilled group. Remodeling is a project that requires a number of people to be in your home for a major period of time. Chris Portante, (the GC who was on site at some point every day if not all day) and his son Chris Jr, treat your home as if it were their own. Chris's team was courteous, unobtrusive, and the neatest crew I have ever had in my home. Their work is of the highest quality. As Chris would say " If you are going to do something, do it right" inferring build it to last. Chris ensured that all permit approvals were received on time so that work could continue uninterrupted. His group of sub-contractors were equally talented as his crew. Chris kept me on schedule too with the choices that I needed to make so as to avoid delay. He made recommendations when he felt something could be done in a better way and his good taste was much appreciated!! Chris was quick to respond to any questions that I had, and also helpful in recommending sources for home maintenance (landscaping, irrigation, exterior painting, etc) All in all, I am so appreciative to Chris, Chris Jr. and the East Ridge Construction team for making the whole experience as easy as it was and for creating the amazing home we now live in.
