Matt is a skilled, thoughtful, and talented homebuilder who built us a beautiful home beyond our best expectations.
Building a house is a complex endeavour evolving from planning & design, to pricing & financing, to actual construction. There are many detailed decisions and iterations which are required when you have full control of the entire finished product. We were extremely fortunate to have Matt guide us through this process. Matt’s steady and friendly approach helped us manage through the variety of decisions with minimal stress and uncertainty. In total, Matt presented a clear vision, a detailed plan, and an upfront cost summary for every element of our house. The result was a perfect home which we intend to enjoy for many years to come.

We started our experience with Matt after finding the opportunity of a lifetime. Matt had purchased an empty lot in the city which rarely comes along . We were hesitant about the project until we met with Matt to discuss all the details of what would be involved in the project .
I had been to the lot many times to try to picture living in an Ellington Home in this spot . Matt was very patient with us as we worked through the process of changing the original plan and creating our dream home. It took awhile to get the building permit in the city but once we did Matt was true to his word and finished the project in the time frame he hesitantly promised . I depended on Matt to help guide me through the whole process and My husband and I are so happy in our new Ellington home . Matt has a team that is professional and talented . I especially connected with his superintendent who was the person responsible for the final stages of the project . We had a deadline to move in before our daughters wedding and everyone worked hard to make this happen . We are settling in to our new home and I cannot be happier with every detail that makes this home a step above your typical new construction. We have a coffered ceiling in our family room , beautiful wainscoting in the dining room , a gorgeous wood front door and very large covered porch on the back . I could go on and on but I think this gives a good picture of what it is like to work with Matt Ellington and his team ..

Ellington Homes does a fantastic job completing all the details you want in a home. From the layout, to the flow, to the moldings, stone, tile and beautiful fixtures. There is no detail that they haven't thought of for you and your family. We have been in our beautiful Ellington Home for over three years. We have been so happy with our dream house. It is perfect in every way.

In December of 2015, my wife and I moved into our new custom-built Ellington Home in Carter’s Ridge. We began the process with Matt about fourteen months earlier, before the land was cleared for the development where there will be nine new homes when completely built out. Our experience included choosing our specific lot and designing the new house according to our needs. These needs included universal design and one floor living, with supplemental space upstairs for guests and exercise.
At every stage of the process, Matt proved to be insightful and creative, always with an eye towards quality and function. We found Matt to be available, attentive, and communicative at all times through our project. Our new home exceeds our expectations in most ways and Matt continues to attend to small issues as they arise.
The most important thing that I can convey in this recommendation is that Matt demonstrated honesty and transparency at every stage of our project. We always felt that he was being honest with us, especially when unforeseen issues arose. He earned our trust.
Ellington Homes was a good match for us, because, we are not lowest cost clients, but rather clients who pursue quality at good value. Ellington Homes provides exactly that. The bottom line is, knowing what we know now, we would do it all over again with Ellington Homes.

My wife and I contracted with Ellington Homes build our home in 2015 and had a fantastic experience. We enjoyed working with his architect who produced an attractive craftsman design (which gets tons of compliments) and we were able to incorporate most everything we wanted into the plans including some out of the box custom items such as an indoor slide. Matt has a strong knowledge base for residential construction and was able to listen well to what we were looking for and make recommendations to meet our needs. In several cases we appreciated what he encouraged us not to do as we had a few ideas that sounded good but would not have worked out well once built. Matt is patient and level-headed and able to work through the unexpected situations that construction undoubtedly brings - for instance, our home was in framing and without a roof when a hurricane was headed towards our area. Ellington Homes went the extra mile to secure and cover materials well. Through the construction process we decided to make several last minute changes to the design and building materials which were handled professionally, accurately and quickly. Matt cares about the quality of what he builds and makes decisions about what materials and contractors to use by taking a long term view of his reputation and customer satisfaction. We would highly recommend Ellington Homes to friends and family and look forward to inviting both into our new home for years to come!

Working with Ellington Homes it's been a great experience.
As subcontractor we can say the quality of houses are excellent , and level of attention to detail surpass the highest standards in the market .
As a professional working with Matt, it has always been a wonderful process. He always look for alternative ways to build better and stronger houses.
From start of Finish he is always on top of the full process, Matt takes care of the costumer daily, even when the house has been finished he continues to bring professional customer service.

Ellington Homes updated two bathrooms in our home last summer. They completely gutted both, and gave each room a fresh beginning. With our master bath, they did a great job of thinking outside of the box to create more space and get the double-vanity and larger shower we wanted. Matt and Carlos were both respectful and attentive to our ideas, while also adding their own professional insight throughout the process. We could not be happier with the final product.

There are lots of things that make a contractor right for a particular project. Most people want to know about the contractor's prior work, his or her ability to meet deadlines and how he or she prices her work. Ellington Homes is top notch on all of these factors, but that's not the main reason why it deserves 5 stars. The reason is Ellington Homes'--and in particular Matt Ellington's--honesty and integrity.
When you hire a contractor for a major job, it is virtually impossible to keep track of all the different ways your contractor is spending your money. If you don't believe me, try following around every one of the 200 sheets of plywood that just got delivered to the job site, and figure out whether 5 or 6 of them were wasted, trucked off to another job site or simply given away to a sub-contractor. Trust me, it's virtually impossible. They only way you know that you didn't waste money on plywood (or the 10,000 other things that must be bought during the process) is to know that you're dealing with a honest contractor.
I'm here to tell you that Matt is as honest as they come (and no, I'm not his dad or wife or somebody who has a stake in the game here). Here's an easy example: Matt Ellington deducted $50 from our final bill because he needed to put some trash from a different job site into the dumpster at our job site. Matt could've easily "borrowed" a little extra dumpster space without anyone noticing. But he didn't. It's a small thing, but it can really add up.
So, of course, make sure that your contractor can meet deadlines, is within your price range and has a good eye for design. But whatever you do, make sure you're dealing with an honest person. Otherwise, you'll end up paying for more than you ever imagined. Ellington Homes is as trustworthy a contractor as I've encountered.
