We hired Enzo Design Build for a condo renovation and would not recommend them. Our experience involved repeated delays in design deliverables, missed deadlines, major budget increases, incomplete handoff, and serious billing transparency issues. Our design agreement estimated 50–70 hours and included a 60-hour cap unless additional time was approved in writing. We did not provide written approval to exceed that cap, yet Enzo billed far beyond it and later indicated supporting time logs would need to be compiled after the fact. That made it difficult to assess the accuracy of the hours they billed. We also disputed multiple invoice issues, including GST overcharges, unsupported management-fee calculations, and excessive plumbing-related billings. The most serious issue was around life safety systems and liability. During demolition, the sprinkler system in our unit was impaired for more than a month. We asked Enzo directly whether fire watch had been arranged and were told it had. Based on our observations and the communications we received, no compliant fire watch appeared to be in place during that period. After we ended the relationship, transition issues continued, including permit-handoff problems and unwillingness to assign a $70,000+ flooring purchase that we had already paid for. In our view, the process was poorly managed, poorly documented, and unnecessarily adversarial.
