Excel General Contractor, LLC

There are worse contractors out there. I am glad to have not met them. Excel (Peter Lange, Mike Reudink, et al) have set the bar low enough, and seemed to have lost any/all interest in this project or returning my calls/emails. I am happy to never see or speak to them again. They did framing, electrical, plumbing, roofing, drywall, tile, paint, and finishes on a major remodel for a home that was built in 1910 and had been renovated last in 1960. We'd just finished replacing a good chunk of the foundation, had plans in hand with an engineer's stamp and signature, and permits already approved by the city for the work. Months later. I have a house with newly framed walls that are not plumb. Doors that are not square to the walls, and that hang up on the carpet. The tile in my master bathroom looks like someone used it to train the "new guy". The bathroom exhaust fan drips water when it's cold outside and someone is showering. The pot lights in the ceiling are not in a straight line, and for some strange reason we still have floor vents for the old HVAC despite redoing all the flooring and installing a mini-split. I have watched Mike Reudink argue with a city building inspector about having to install structural connections specified by the engineer. The inspector won; resulting in the third go-round of attaching the porch to the house. This time not with nails, nor with screws. No, this time it was attached in accord with the engineer's instructions. I'd like to say discussing things with them is fun. It does combine the best parts of a game of telephone and a stand up comedy troupe's ability to creatively not hear what was said. So, it's fun for anyone watching the back and forth on youtube. For those participating, it's just soul-crushingly frustrating. It's been six weeks since I was promised photos that were taken during the work. At this point, I don't care about the photos. I just want to save others the experience we've had. Find someone else. If they're booked 8 weeks out, that's good. That means you can have everything ready to go when the time comes, and still have a good month to celebrate not hiring Excel General Contractor LLC, and being able to avoid Mike Reudink & Peter Lange.
