I had an excellent experience working with Sorin and his team on a complex renovation project. They completed an earthquake retrofit, reinforced key structural areas, rebuilt the garage slab, installed drainage systems, and laid beautiful hardwood floors—all within 4–6 months. The crew was efficient, organized, and kept the workspace clean. They also navigated the city inspection process seamlessly and provided practical solutions whenever unexpected challenges arose. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and willingness to address my concerns made the entire process smooth. I highly recommend them!

I give five stars to Feraru and Associates. Over the last fifteen years we have used Sorin and his guys to upgrade our earthquake retrofit of our foundation and our entire basement (twice over 15 years because of improvements in this area), bathroom remodel, dry rot removal and repair, new roof and downspouts, patio remodel, new windows in kitchen, new foundation, electrical work, plumbing work and more. They are very professional, talented, prompt, and clean up after they are finished. Highest recommendation.

Sorin Feraru and his colleagues just completed a job for us on our 100 year old Berkeley home. This was not a major project--but with a house of this vintage needless to say we've needed a contractor frquently over the past 15 or so years. About that long ago, we met Sorin, and since he has been the only contractor we have called upon when we needed help, or had the desire to upgrade our home. The fact that we have asked for his help so often shows the confidence we have in him and his crew, and the quality of work that is performed. When they do work on a project, their work disrupts our--and our neighbors'--lives as little as possible, and the worksite is always clean and orderly. It has been a delight to work with such a fine professional.

After speaking with several other contractors, I hired Feraru and Associates to remodel an existing bath and convert two small closets in our master bedroom into an additional bathroom. I chose Feraru and Associates after speaking several times with Sorin. Unlike the other contractors I spoke with, he was very easy to connect with, provided clear projections on budget and schedule, and would offer helpful suggestions, especially when things I proposed were unnecessary or needlessly expensive. Sorin also recommended an architect, who he collaborates well with. She completed our plans quickly, cost effectively, and worked seamlessly with Feraru’s crew. Feraru timely commenced the work and completed it both on time and on budget with no surprises. During construction, he was easy to reach and would explain process or answer my questions even when I called after business hours. His workers were very punctual and respectful, and cleaned up each day before leaving. At the end of the project, Sorin was very patient and immediately addressed the small finish details that were important to me (I can, admittedly, be relentlessly fastidious). I am very happy with our completed bathroom project.

Feraru & Associates tackled my large exterior project in the Berkeley hills this summer, which involved: Exterior siding removal & replacement on 3 sides of my 3-story home. Dry rot removal & repair Remove old & replace 6 new construction windows Permit acquisition & approvals, addressing all requirements such as installation of an earthquake emergency gas valve Painting the house As this was my first time embarking on such a big project, and my first time working with Feraru & Associates, I was cautiously optimistic yet nervous when we began. However, throughout the duration of the 8-week project, Sorin Feraru built up a level of trust through his responsiveness & follow-through that I, as a client, felt increasingly reassured that the job would be completed successfully. Construction started on time, and was indeed completed within the expected time frame. I really appreciated Sorin’s good communication throughout; I felt I was informed of what to expect in advance of it happening. He was calm, reassuring, always available to answer questions and was incredibly quick to respond to any concern. On a project of this magnitude, inevitably new problems were discovered: Sorin & crew were able to tackle issues as they arose and offer good solutions. Sorin displayed excellent problem solving abilities and would call in the right personnel when needed to resolve the issue. I also appreciated that they worked smart & safe. Sorin brought in an extensive scaffolding system to keep the work environment safe. The friendly and hard working crew would dedicate themselves each day with energy & commitment. At the end of the project, they cleaned up the area nicely and disposed of all debris. Overall, I’m pleased with the result and feel the price I paid was fair and reasonable for the scope of work required. I’d be happy to call on Feraru & Associates again for any future construction needs!

I completed my home addition and remodel, and I had the pleasure to work with Sorin and Feraru Associates Building and Design. They were recommended by one of my close friends that worked with them a couple of years ago, and he was very happy with the team and final product. My extensive project required planning, engineering, and a design team, and Feraru and Associates excelled at providing this. The project was completed in time and didn’t exceed our budget, and the guys did a tremendous job. Most of the guys from the crew were Europeans, true craftsmen, problem-solvers, and dedicated professionals. I am pleased to recommend Feraru and Associates Building and his design team. Kasia delivered an amazing architectural solution and was very careful in selecting the design elements.

Excellent!!! Sorin and his team did a phenomenal job remodeling our kitchen. Our home was built in the late 1940's and the kitchen had not been remodeled in over 25 years. Sorin's expertise created a sense of calm for our family as we navigated this process. Sorin was responsive from the beginning to the end of the process. This was a complete kitchen overhaul. The outcome? Simply beautiful.

I recommend working with Sorin and his team for your home renovation projects. They're responsive, responsible, and experienced. We had our unfinished shed remodeled into a modern office and bathroom. The labor was done by Vali and Danny who came in working with their bare hands every single day. I have no idea how they did everything they did with a few power tools but I am so glad they know what they're doing. We couldn't be happier with the space and are so glad we chose them. A couple of issues came up and Sorin was an effective communicator and provided reasonable options to work around our existing space's limitations. We have inspired others in our neighborhood and our friends to look into creating a space similar to ours and we have recommended Feraru and Associates to them all.

Feraru & Associates remodeled our guest bathroom originally installed in the 1930s which involved not just new fixtures and tile, but also upgrading the plumbing to meet the latest code, dealing with lathe and plaster, and old electrical remnants. Sorin fully understood what was involved and provide lots of options so we could make informed decisions along the way. He has a friendly and professional team that strived to keep the disruptions and demolition to a minimum. The quality of craftsmanship is high! The style was both an updated look, but also retained some of the charm of the original house style.

Feraru & Associates completed the redesign of our basement to make it a more functional, ergo-friendly laundry room. Sorin (owner) and his team also noticed and fixed a few other problems around the house that other contractors could not. I could not be happier with not only the result, but with working with Feraru & Associates. The communications with Sorin was superb (this is a must for me). We've used quite a few contractors since purchasing our house a few years ago and he is by far someone that I would not only recommend to others, but will use for future projects.
